    Want to learn the process David goes through to make these videos? Check out our “Emulation with Purpose” video course in EVI Now and try it out with your favorite artist! extremevocalinstitute.com/evi-now
    Thanks for all the love on this series! We have a very long list of artists to work through, please be patient if we haven’t gotten to your favorite yet! David has a very busy schedule and has to prioritize his private students and creating content for our EVI Now program 😁

    Dude you are doing what I've been trying to teach people for years! Every single one of my friends asks me "how do you do that?"the only thing I can tell them was positioning your jaw and your tongue in certain ways and inhaling and exhaling for different sounds but I like even right now I can't even verbally explain how I do it 😂 I've just been doing it since I was 14 and practicing every day and I'm 32 now and I have to say I'm pretty damn good🤣🤣🤣. Kudos to you!

    When I was 17 I had just broken into peak sound (to me). I had been screaming for 4 years at that point and man I was so proud of what I had been able to achieve mostly with my lows and was in the process of feeling like I had reached the precipice of my highs as well. I had molded my lows to match Phil Bozeman (not perfectly I’m sure) but banged out great covers of “Devirgination Studies” “Crewcabanger”
    “Slaves To Substance” etc. I was in the process of molding my highs to match Mitch lucker because I had felt that those 2 were the best at those specific screams.
    One day I had noticed that my jaw kept popping when I would eat and that it would be almost unbearable after a session of screaming. At the time I had been taking a lot of RC’s like 25-I,B and C and idk if that contributed but I ended up with a severe case of TMJ. So I decided that I would take a little break from screaming, just so my jaw could heal, then after that I would see what could be done about it. If I could try a different style or maybe compensate in some way to relieve tension from the areas that were in the most pain. Months went by and I still had just the same amount of pops, pain, but I wasn’t screaming. Idk if the RC’s gave it away or not but I was a severe drug addict that had started shooting heroin at 16. Screaming had become the greatest coping mechanism that I could ask for. If I was angry, I’d scream. If I was depressed, I’d scream. Happy, scream. Wanted to get high, I’d scream. But at that point I couldn’t do any of that, so I just sulked and got high. Throwing myself a pity party every day of the week. After about 2 years my jaw didn’t pop anymore but I had sounded like I had in the beginning when I was 12-13. I wish I could say I overcame that all and now I get to do the thing I loved most with the people I loved most every weekend but that’s just untrue. I gave up. I still pursue music but in a different genre. Moral of the story, don’t give up on your dreams or you’ll regret it for the rest of your life.

    • @ExtremeVocalInstitute
      @ExtremeVocalInstitute  2 года назад +2

      You can but the reason David is teaching it with false cords here is because the false cord scream naturally has more lower overtones than the fry and Phil has a very deep voice even just when he’s talking. For most people trying to replicate his tone the false cord scream is a more natural base for them to get that low without cramming the sound down and health/sustainability is the center of everything we teach here at EVI! That being said play around with the fry scream and see if you can match it yourself 😁

    • @ExtremeVocalInstitute
      @ExtremeVocalInstitute  2 года назад +1

      Not necessarily! David and Phil have very different speaking voices. You’re right that different mouth shapes will effect the sound differently so there may have to be some trial and error however this gives people a good starting point to work with

    • @ExtremeVocalInstitute
      @ExtremeVocalInstitute  2 года назад +1

      Should also add that the shaping David does with his mouth is to mimic the shape of Phil’s given that David has a much larger mouth than Phil. Someone with a smaller mouth may not have to change as much!
