    You know whats funny, I have been jokingly practicing this method for years unknowingly because of my tendency to just mock any sound I hear. When it was explained the way you explained it, I was able to not only figure out how to do it, but learn how to alter it with my throat tension, mouth shape, and tongue placement. My friends are impressed but not sure if they are just saying it to make me feel better. But I have been recording myself on my phone and I can tell the difference in my techniques before I watched your information, and after. Not only does my throat not hurt afterwards now, I actually can do a practice session and feel really really good afterwards about it. Thank you boss, you really are the Wiseman of metal vocal instruction.

    I'm a rap artist with a heavy influence of heavy metal and hardcore music. I drummed in metal bands for years before ever picking up the mic and some how becoming a numetal/rapper. I have been practicing metal vocals since I was a little kid and have been wanting to implement more screaming in my music. I'd always lose my voice or feel an urge to cough immediately after performing a long scream. These 30 second videos have BY FAR been the most helpful. Even though I have been trying for years, I literally watched the first 2 minutes of this video and became a significantly better vocalist. Thank you so much dude! This was SO helpful.

    Thank you sincerely for these videos!!! Been screaming for years and wasn’t sure where to go for harsh vocal training. Someone told me to check this channel out! My vocal coach I was working with was trying to get me away from it, claimed it damages the chords…but I’m just trying to get more out of doing less. Find myself not using diaphragm sometimes and the voice with crackle occasionally out of breathe during certain parts and no time to breathe, trying to solidify my techniques and I feel this video has a lot of the tips and tricks just for that. Thanks man!

      That opinion is really common among more classically trained vocal coaches, however the key is balance! You can injure yourself doing anything with your voice, even just speaking, if not supported properly or practiced in moderation. Glad you found us!

    I'm getting so sad because I can't do any of these sounds, basically not even the ones that I should start with. Been trying to get something out of my throat for years and sure, I've managed to do few songs with a pathetic whine and a throat that's killing me for days. Even trying to do the basics of this video makes my throat hurt. I envy you guys so much, who learn to scream/growl fast 😥

    • @ExtremeVocalInstitute
      @ExtremeVocalInstitute  Год назад +53

      Your frustration is understandable but you may just be overthinking it! If you're getting pain then you're likely working too hard to try to get the sounds because of your perception of what you think screaming is. It doesn't have to be super effort based! Here are some videos that may help you get on the right path:

      Practice. Practice. Practice. Rest. Rest. Rest. Rejuvenate. Listen and record yourself. Take notes. Don't be too hard on yourself. Build the vocal strength and aim for executing the technique to the best of your ability. AND remember, your scream will always be different from almost everyone else's.

No wonder my throat would hurt immediately after and the next day too. I just thought there was no other way around it and had just accepted it as part of the process. I'm gonna start practicing these now and remember to not push so much.

    3:33 can you please describe what triggers that flip in the intensity of the sound? Is it adjusting the placement, more vocal chord closure, more air, less air, more relaxation? When I fry scream it is unreliable sometimes and can never sound as good as others yet, but I know that I am just steps away from unlocking the key.
