- I was joined on NBA Countdown by Stephen A. Smith, Michael Wilbon and Bob Myers to discuss if Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander should’ve won the NBA MVP over Nikola Jokic.

The problem is that all these big networks only focus on the big market teams as they have a bigger audience and a bigger voice. They barely give any coverage on the smaller markets, that is why it took everyone by surprise that okc was ready for the playoff and not still in rebuilding mode. Other players in the NBA knew that the OKC players were a threat, except the media and nba fans.
NBCA awarding coach Mark Coach of the year just proves that they have not just been watching the big market teams only. Coach Mark has been developing this team by using the G-league. He did an amazing job in creating a culture and developing them. We knew they were ready for the playoff, but no one in the media talked about them. The media only focuses on the bigger market audience so the bigger market audience only knows about the accomplishments of the bigger market only.
That is why the audience of bigger markets are able to talk about their star players and put a bigger case for their behalf and don't think SGA deserves MVP. That is why many NBA fans think it was just pure luck they got the playoffs and underestimate the Thunder.
If the media had followed and covered the OKC for the last few years since it started rebuilding, no one would question why people think SGA is the MVP this year.
The audience and the media would have seen the fast progression of their development. How after every loss they would adjust their game and you could tell they had adapted on the next match-up with the same team they lost to. They would have noticed how many OKC players were constantly being send to the G-League, something a bit unconventional. A move that many fans hated and thought was degrading. Yet Coach Mark used that as a way of developing their players and gave them the opportunity to get more playing time and experience. They would have known that the bench of the OKC started developing really well and it is thanks to them playing on the OKC Blue.
OKC has shown the NBA how a rebuilt is done properly and effectively. Yet they are barely hearing about it.
Yet the facts are the facts, SGA is the true MVP this year.
Also, I was surprised Luka was given such low votes, I thought it would me more. Yet Joker getting that many is unbelievable.
Jokic ties the series and prove them why he's mvp while embiid can't do that shittt, and Sga is down 2-1 , all SGA did was scoring and that's what shaq reason on why SGA should won MVP, while jokic and luka almost average a Triple double this season

Stephen A Smith didn’t have Luka Doncic on his All-NBA 1st, 2nd, or 3rd team ballot last 2 years. He voted for Jrue Holiday over him. This should be called out, and he should have to address it. This is pure bias, and anyone else would have their vote taken.
