Chicken Ala King was one of my favorites, everybody else hated it so it was easy to trade and get them. My favorite was to heat up the meal on the M-1 tank exhaust and add the cheese spread. Seeing the orange drink made my mouth water - loved it! Mixed cocoa powder with the creamer, sugar and water to make Ranger pudding. Fine dining. Thanks for the memories brother!
YES! I loved this one too. I also loved the omelette with ham which everyone else seemed to hate. It was an easy trade because most were repulsed by it. The absolute most disgusting mre was the BBQ rice and pork. I hated that one.
I liked Chicken Ala Thing (CAT) mixed with crunched up crackers, pepper and some left over tabasco sauce. While taking part in Operation Desert Storm, we picked up a stray dog out in the middle of nowhere in Iraq. We took him along with us as our company mascot. That dog which we named “Scud” ate everything except CAT! I have a picture of him sitting by a freshly opened CAT with a disappointed look on his face. Makes me smile every time I look at it.
Nice video, the spasmodic expulsion of orange drink topped off the nastiness of the chicken ala thing. But going in for another drink... Classic. 😂 Hope you didn't experience any negative side effects from that meal! 🤢
Great video rr awsome it held up so well always looked bad even when it was new those crackers and the freeze dried fruit would be a nice upgrade to the current mres take care man
Nice review. I love how you actually try everything and let us know how it's held up. Much appreciated. I would love to get my hands on the dehydrated fruit mix. I think it's a way better idea than Canadian IMP fresh fruit packs. Aside from MREs does any company make the dehydrated fruit packs?
Chicken Ala King was always one of my favorites! The entree certainly was not that brown color back then; there was more of a cream color to the entree, so it most likely was spoiled. Hope you didn't get sick.
One of my favorites when I was active USMC from 1989-1993. When I was in MCT, we were told to put the main pouch against our skin and tuck into waist of underwear to "heat" for lunch while we humped (walking with full gear and packs many miles), this was January of 1990 in NC. Good times.
Your videos make me less worried to eat the MRE I have that expired in 2015. Any risk that it's been in my car for 5years going through all the heat and cooling cycles?
That fruit mix use to be one of my favorite things in mres. I always had a little camp stove for the main, canteen cup full of water to heat them. Your right they should add the fruit mix back but oh well. When we were in the field for 15 days I would always miss bread products the crackers just didnt hit the spot. I cant remenber what year it was but they came out with shelf stable bread in little retort pouches, but that never came in mres. It was darn good with something like ham slices. About the sametime they also had shelf stable milk which wasnt all that bad either. Have a good day.
On my Navy ship, two weeks out the good milk ran out, and they gave us Aisian-made shelf-stable milk. Yuck! The chocolate flavor was marginal for cereal. The good part was the storebought bread ran out, do the mess cranks baked it fresh. That was heavenly! We had a really good baker.
Yep, one of my faves too. The ones I disliked the most were any of the ones that included any type of tomato base in the main entree. Every single one of them was just too nasty sweet, like in a nasty sweet sort of way. The Frankfurters were not bad. Liked the freeze dried steak. Ham Slices though were widely regarded as the best. Active Army 83-87....
Everyone hated it and called it "Chicken al la Puke". It was one of my favorites, so I got to eat a lot of them as everyone traded them to me. Beef stew was my ultimate favorite, with the "Dead Man Fingers" (wieners) being the worst. Your's is over 30 years old, it should be white and creamy.
The MRE fruitcakes/nutcakes could be used as weapons with how dense they are Don't ever try biting into them you might break some teeth in the process. (That was even when they were new) You actually need to slice them just to eat them. And they were found in the brown bag MRE's.

Involuntarily spits drink out, "let's go in for another taste". You absolute professional, I salute you.
"Ruh Roh!" THAT is your body rejecting something nasty! 😆
I ate that one in 81 when they were new and I loved it! Looked much better before it sat for 30+ years. Love your content keep them coming👍

Awesomely done young man! Everything looked good minus the main and charms. Double yucky main. Orange explosion! Thank you for sharing. Blessings 🙏🏼👍🏼
Dude chowed that main 😆 respect. Thanks for the thorough reviews!
Thanks for Watching!!
Awesome ration reviews👍

I do love a nice Brown Bag and never had a bad one yet, except the cheese never holds up. Great review again 👍
Anything dairy never holds up well. I found that out the hard way with MRE Dairy based caramel chews.

Whooo doggy, that was a ride. Thanks man!

Chicken ala king was one of my favorite MREs! I liked the entree heated or cold. The red in it is pimentos.
love the video and love the shirt :-D

When I was in the Marine Corps in 1990, chicken à la king was my favorite meal
That was my favorite MRE! Not a lot of mushrooms in Army cooking but that one has them!
My dad brought them home when I was young. I loved this one. Non MRE chicken ala king was gross.... but this was 🔥
I have one of these to get too😬. It's visually pretty horrible but glad it tasted semi ok. Welcome to the liquid Charms club. Nice vid, sir.
Back in the 80s this was the meal I hunted down when cases of MREs arrived at the unit. Go CAV!!
Thank you for your service!

Ate this MRE all the time from 1990- 1994 while serving in the Marines.
This was one of my favorites!!!😋😋😋

This was one of the best first mre's when they came out.
Great video
Man that main is making my stomach hurt 😂😂
That FD Fruit looks like OSB board.
1983-85; this was my favorite mre in the corps.
Thank you for your service!!

I ate the last Chicken ala King on Ft. Lewis 1994.
Love ya videos

All the ingredients sounded good but it definitely didn’t look good, I’d probably be one of those guys who’d love it.
I think all of the mre so called Gatorade drinks are bad new or old

I can tell you by experience that chicken a La king was a gross, sticky mess back in 1985.
Coming from that era...this and the dehydrated pork patty were the worst MRE's!
I hated that one. Maybe my least favorite.
Was USMC 87-93.
Was good back in the day? But don't eat it now! Unless you have a death wish?
Chicken Ala king was the worst! I looked like vomit and tasted like it! If you were last in line it was what you got!
You used all my trigger words in this video. Gunk, sloppy, slimy, sludge, gloopy, and the crowning jewel of a phrase "Dirty Sock Kind of Cheese Taste"
