Thousands of Bangladeshi physicians worked in Iran until mid 90s. My parents were among them. I spent my preschool years there and visited a couple more times during my primary school years. I acquiesced Persian or Farsi before I learned my mother tongue Bengali or Bangla. We lived in a small town near Khorramabad. I can still remember the extreme level of friendliness of the Iranian people. So many memories in relatively a small portion of my life! You made me emotion-choked with the video of Khorramabad.

During the wartime, my parents served your people with professionalism and dedication, despite serious life risks. Our home in Iran was bombed, and I can still remember the day. My mom was treating the injured patients even when the Iraqi planes were flying above our heads. At one point we had to move to a nearby village (I remember the name to be Ab-bariki) as the city became impossible to live. Many doctors actually left the country in fear of their life, but my parents stayed back. Your government certified my parents for their service to the Iranian people during the wartime. We still have good friends in Iran, who we consider nothing less than our 'famil' or family members. They still call us often on Skype or Viber. When my parents left Iran, many Iranians followed their car for a long way (I saw the pictures) and cried as if some family members were leaving for good. So many memories!

iran and pakistan have so match in common, both have a lot to offer both have a negative view from outsiders both are so diverse and people are hospitable( definitely Pakistani are more hospitable) and a lot of history in common and of course a lot of cultural similarities
@Twiddle Bee i dont know about pakistan but about iran i should say we have huge problem about womens right but when you say no respect i highly disagree(sixty percent of graduated people from university are women and the the sexuality population is almost fifty fifty) i dont know where does your friend live but i can promise you your thoughts about this stuff is mostly wrong , i will tell you why with couple of examples, everybody even in iran thinks that riding bike is illegal for female riders but there isnt such a law about it and the law even didnt mention any thing about sexuality but every body thinks there is such a thing and it becomes a taboo, or other thing i heard a lot specially from travelers is that dancing is illegal, but there isnt such a law in iran and almost every travelers have faced public dancing in iran and called it breaking the law but the reality is there isnt such a thing , yo know what Im sayin?

About the castle, that castle was built during Sasanids era, before the Arab invasion, the Name Falak al Aflak is an Arabic name but the real name is Deje Shahpoor khaast means the castle of Shahpoor khaast. Shahpoor khast also was the name of a city in Sasanids era.

Nick when I was a college senior 73-74, I had some great friends from Iran. They were some of the school's international students. They were all really nice people, about 6 guys and one beautiful girl!! We did many things together and they treated me like a family member. It was a great experience and made my senior year fly by! I think they wound up staying here. They were in the southern US about a 1000 miles away. I also started to understand some of what they would say and they would kid me that I understood some of their conversations but I never learned how to write! That looked very complicated and I think they wrote from right to left!

Thank you for the amazing videos so far. I'd just like to point out 2 things, 1- The experience you had in the south of Iran is actually the exception not the norm, as despite a large amount of Iran's land being covered in desert, most of the country and most of the population center sits at an elevation and most Iranian cities are actually mountainous and sit at least 1200 meters above sea level, which also includes Tehran. What that means is cold winters and hot summers. Snow is also not the exception but the norm, so it does snow in Tehran every year and if it doesn't that's strange and shows the effect of global warming. 2- You're using a style of oriental music which is not Iranian and isn't reflective of our culture, I understand finding royalty free music is not an easy task but most traditional and folklore Iranian songs probably aren't copyrighted anyway so you can also use those to give a better feeling of the overall traditions and culture. Thank you so much for your amazing series in Iran.😊

@Lon Spector the medes were another ancient group af arians who migrated to iran and lived alongside persians and elamis and close to assyrian in western parts of iran. they once had an empire before losing the power to persians. They are now blended by other iranians especially in western and north western provinces but we guess that kurds of iran are one of the main tribes remained from them.

I did the roadtrip from Ahvaz to Tehran and back many times as a child with my family; there is meadow with wild poppies near Khoram Abad which is so beautiful. I hope it is still there.

Nick when I was a college senior 73-74, I had some great friends from Iran. They were some of the school's international students. They were all really nice people, about 6 guys and one beautiful girl!! We did many things together and they treated me like a family member. It was a great experience and made my senior year fly by! I think they wound up staying here. They were in the southern US about a 1000 miles away. I also started to understand some of what they would say and they would kid me that I understood some of their conversations but I never learned how to write! That looked very complicated and I think they wrote from right to left!

Sounds ridiculous but I never expected Iran would have snow tipped mountains. I always imagined it to be a literal desert. Upon reflection, that's a bit ridiculous to think.

Hey Nick , You can extend your visa in Tehran if you like to stay longer... You missed all the major cities like Shiraz, Esfahan, Kashan, Yazd, Tabriz, Sari (north of Iran) and Persepolis....

Truly love these videos of Iran. If I wasn't American I would be tempted to go there. At least I am able to travel there through you. Why can’t American’s travel to Iran? If you go there as a curious and friendly human and not with religious or political agendas, then you should be fine.
Thank you for the amazing videos so far. I'd just like to point out 2 things, 1- The experience you had in the south of Iran is actually the exception not the norm, as despite a large amount of Iran's land being covered in desert, most of the country and most of the population center sits at an elevation and most Iranian cities are actually mountainous and sit at least 1200 meters above sea level, which also includes Tehran. What that means is cold winters and hot summers. Snow is also not the exception but the norm, so it does snow in Tehran every year and if it doesn't that's strange and shows the effect of global warming. 2- You're using a style of oriental music which is not Iranian and isn't reflective of our culture, I understand finding royalty free music is not an easy task but most traditional and folklore Iranian songs probably aren't copyrighted anyway so you can also use those to give a better feeling of the overall traditions and culture.

@Lon Spector i would say we are all arians(indo iranian) mainly so not that different but yes there are different races and religions in iran.
@Lon Spector the medes were another ancient group af arians who migrated to iran and lived alongside persians and elamis and close to assyrian in western parts of iran. they once had an empire before losing the power to persians. They are now blended by other iranians especially in western and north western provinces but we guess that kurds of iran are one of the main tribes remained from them.

I did the roadtrip from Ahvaz to Tehran and back many times as a child with my family; there is meadow with wild poppies near Khoram Abad which is so beautiful. I hope it is still there.
