Celebrating the release of new Whitesnake album 'Flesh & Blood' available on Frontiers Records (you can find it here: amzn.to/2YoG8cx), here is a 1987 throwback from the days of David Coverdale & Co. opening up for Motley Crue on the Girls, Girls, Girls tour. It's a short set list but a worthwhile watch. Timestamps have been added though I always encourage viewers to watch the whole show as there is a lot of stage banter and audience interaction missed when skipping around. Enjoy the show and rock on!

I've always been a huge Crue fan but I can honestly say that in my opinion Whitesnake was so much more of musicians then the Crue and this tour Motley should have been opening up for Whitesnake...

Great video and audio for its age! It’s already been discussed here but the first thing that caught my eye was how small the stage was…and then I remembered they weren’t headliners at that point. Openers for the Crue. As stated on here, it should be the other way around. I caught Whitesnake in March ‘88 and again in April ‘90. Solid shows!

Amazing quality considering 1987 was pre-Smartphones. Thank you. Even the bass is audible!

Not to knock this video, but I saw this show in 87 and the sound quality was far better than this video would suggest and here's the thing, while i'm a big(ger)fan of the Crue...Whitesnake actually stole the show as far as natural performances go!
Coverdale's voice was amazing...and unlike Nikki their bassist and the whole band actually played their instruments and sang live!
*Mind you Mick and Tommy were incredible!

They crushed Motley Crue on this tour. The "Vets" teaching the youngsters how to do it. Coverdale is nine years old than Vince and Tommy Aldridge is twelve years old than Tommy Lee and gave a masterclass. There is no Tommy Lee without Tommy Aldridge.

It´s a mystery, Whitesnake, supporting band for Mötley Crue. It should have been the other way around. How can Coverdale agree on this? They even sold more records than Crue and as a band, I can honestly say, Whitesnake should never, ever open for bands like Mötley Crue. Whitesnake should have been able to fill the arena themselves. Don´t get this, at all!

I saw Vandenberg today explaining on RUclips, it was like a revamp of the whole liveband and they together only rehearsed the 1987 album for an opening 45 min slot for a mayor tour supporting the album. The album sales exploded and the rest is history :)

    • @larsnilsson8949

@@AkiRiihimaki They toured in America in ´88, as headliners with huge success, they should never be supporting band whatsoever. Whitesnake belonged to those bands, which always should headline, even though Whitesnake 1987-1988, not was at their best period, as they were back in the glorious days with Jon Lord, David Coverdale, Micky Moody, Bernie Marsden, Neil Murray and Ian Paice.

@@AkiRiihimaki As for Whitesnake and their success with 1987, they should always headline. This line up, 1987, includes Steve Vai, Tommy Aldridge, Rudy Sarzo, Adrian Vandenberg and of course David Coverdale, from Deep Purple. Musicians like those, should never, ever be supporting band, specially not for Mötley Crue. Have seen Crue, but that´s not really my type of band. Saw Whitesnake on the Monsters of rock ´90 with Poison and they were good, but not great like the old days with Moody, Marsden, Paice, Murray and Lord.
