- There’s a new tailgate in town, and Ford is calling it the Pro Access Tailgate. The big party trick on display here with the Pro Access Tailgate is the middle portion of the gate that swings out like a single barn door. The point of a sideways-swinging tailgate is the same in the F-150 as it is in other trucks that offer it. You can walk right on up to the edge of the bed without having to lean across a flat-laying tailgate, allowing for easier loading and unloading of awkward items. Of course, this new tailgate necessitated a switch-up from the traditional ladder step and extendable grab handle seen in the standard tailgate design. Instead, a footstep can be pulled out from under the bumper, allowing you to first step up onto there. Then, Ford extended the bumper section to act as a second step that you can hop to before hauling yourself the rest of the way into the bed. The only trim where it will be mandatory is in the new-for-2024 Platinum Plus trim. Other than that, it will be optional on every trim from the XLT on up.

@@tannerhuth2076 Firstly, by timing chain I meant the entire chain system. Secondly, you still a chain problem when it slips off a sproket because of the guides.
And once again not a problem with the chains, but what the chain rides on
@@tannerhuth2076 I'm sure you'll be pleased than your GUIDES failed instead of the chains when you're out a fucking engine. Same outcome.
And in the actual world, yes we do call that a timing chain problem when the guides fails.
Maybe you can go and film yourself doing a timing job in the real world, post it here, then come back to talk trivial details.
Well how's that gate going to work in a rust belt climate where I am in.
Now we have to push a button to line up the hitch to the trailer and it puts itself in park after that.
Where is the part where we actually use our mirrors for backing up and getting out to check if we hit our mark in lining up the ball to the trailer hitch.
Heck let alone that the average jane/joe could afford a new truck these days anyways.

They make grills/ smokers that have plug in for the fan that use charcoal/wood. For example the Materbuilt gravity series 560/ 800/1050. I have one and it’s awesome.

This is nice but isn’t available until late 2024. I’m not happy as I ordered mine 6 months ago and was just informed it’s not on the build.

I thought I was getting this exact truck. I ordered one and have been told by my dealer that I probably won’t get the pro access tailgate. They expect to begin building it January 22.
Yea same…I ordered the 701 package but didn’t know it was coming with a bunch of black trim shit and black wheels…hah wow Ford.

No clue! Maybe it’ll look better in person. 🤷🏼♂️…and no tow mirrors with the powerboost either…must not people towing with that motor…
@@chadbruesehoff1 You can tow with it just fine because it’ll be using by the 3.5L V6. If you didn’t have a tow mirror option it was probably because Ford is limiting configuration options to streamline things on their end.
Ford salesman here. The PAT is late availability and won't start until spring for the option.
These people criticized the Honda Ridgeline for not being a real truck but then they copy (STOLE) the tailgate😂

@@robertbutler8004 the door would just hit the trailer, so it's a wash. Some things should be kept simple. Tailgates are already $3000+ to replace. A tailgate is gonna be the cost of a small car soon.

This has got me a little stressed. I ordered one and have been told by my dealer that I probably won’t get the pro access tailgate. They expect to begin building it January 22. I wish I could push it off because now I’ll be getting a plain Jane tailgate on a Platinum Plus.
I like some of it but I think I would be immediately and constantly annoyed by that slow-opening tailgate

I'd be somewhat interested but I bet they only offer it in the high trim level which would make the truck 80 k...hard pass

I'm in Southeast Michigan and just bought an F150 2 days ago. None of the dealers here were adding any premium to MSRP and there are many hundreds of 2023 trucks in stock. Whether 2024s come to the lots soon and at MSRP probably depends on the negotiations.
No dual exhaust on the Platinum 702 High package which is the new Dark Appearance package. Come on Ford what a dick move, I just ordered this truck for $110,000.00 Canadian and the dealer said it has a "dark chrome" side tip..... They suggested I order a lesser trim to get the dual exhaust.
Agreed 100%. I ordered Platinum Plus and am bothered by some missing items, such as the pro access tailgate. I also am starting to wonder what else they are skipping. You bring up a great point about the exhaust. I wish it had that.

What is the purpose of the tailgate door? To step into the bed to retrieve things you can literally just grab out from the side like people been doing for decades? Society has become so weak in every form wtf

Nobody even wants this. The footstep is a joke bring back the tailgate step. Someone tell Ford that the "STAMPED F-150" on the tailgate is the most CHEAP looking design in the history of the F-150. 💯💯💯 p.s. - can I pay EXTRA to get the old tailgate design? 😁

This is a bad design.... I can see people smacking it off the front of things on trailers if their high and close enough. Keep it stupid simple. My Ideal tailgate would be the ford step and the addition of a full swing like the ridgeline. That's if it could still maintain dropping like a normal tailgate.

Works great for me, as I don't tow anyway, but I would have this, on my next one! So what GM truck do you have; or are you still in your 2003 Malibu 😂
