I don't think enough people talk about the fact that this device uses a display with LFC and VRR. So many people talk about the lack of OLED, but the displays in devices like the steam deck are cheap tablet portrait displays that look pretty but don't support true gaming features. Low Frame Rate Compensation and Variable Refresh Rate are key features that set the Ally apart from any other handheld. FreeSync Premium is it's knockout feature. Great video!
VRR is super important, especially when gaming on a handheld and frames could be jumping around depending on how demanding the game is. I think most people would enjoy VRR/LFC too! thank you! appreciate the comment!
I think you misunderstood the auto controller profile. It's not auto detect, but auto switch to game/app's assigned profile. So if you haven't add app into armory crate and set it's controller profile, it's very likely will give you wrong mode.
@@ayemaldoyou also need to set apps profile like steam, epic, browser, etc to desktop mode, so anytime you open them, it switches to the correct mode.
I got the white one that cost less but has less ram than the one displayed on video and still worth it graphics look awesome and performance is impressive
As a legion go owner I’m jealous of ally x owner 😢. I want to enjoy 3 hours of battery life at 20w too. I’m only getting 1hr30-1hr40minutes at 20w. I love the legion go screen but overall ally x is better tbh
every handheld has its fair share of issues! all of these early models will until maybe the 3rd generation where everyone is on a similar playing field regarding specs
@@jgadiaz that's fair. I personally don't care if I have a small screen. The way I see it, is if i wanted a big screen I would just buy a laptop. I love the portability aspect. But i can see ur point
I personally don't feel it's worth it to buy any of the current handhelds new with how close the next generation of them has to be. The new Big ryzen APU is out and it is in at least one hand held so far. The 1X player something or another. It's overpriced as all get out. But the first ones usually are. I would be surprised if Asus send Lenovo don't drop their updated models with the new apus within the next 3 months or so. I don't mean to throw shade on the Ally X, as I have the original Ally and I love it. But I just find it weird to suggest someone invest into the current generation of handhelds this late in their life cycle. Especially after the super deep discounts of Black Friday and Cyber Monday have already passed. Like a Lenovo Legion go for $450 new did make some sense. I don't remember what the discount was for The rog ally x was though. But now?
fair take, and you’re right those will be coming out soon, just like how MSI is coming out with the Claw 2 already. but we don’t even know when Asus will release a new one yet and honestly the Ally X has enough power already to play most games which is why i went ahead and made a video on it. if new models do come out, then the Ally X will go on discount which might even fit someone situation even better at the lower cost. folks don’t have to buy anything, and i just wanted to make a video on the device, like i said it’s already a great piece of tech (a bit expensive 😩) thanks for the comment! i appreciate it! 🙂
You could say the same for any device like phones or laptops. Better devices will come out, there's always a bigger fish. The most important thing is to buy what you want if you have money to spare and just enjoy the journey.
@AntonioMottaAtor good luck I have until the 30 of this month to return it I probably will and get a laptop. It doesn't do well with the maps now, I can't imagine how it will do with the maps when they are juiced. I played Poe 1 juiced maps I'll download it and run 1 see how it runs and post a video I'll link you here if you reply to me so I don't forget where the comment is
This seems like a better step up from a Switch than the Steam Deck does….. great video! You got my hamster wheel turning 😌
potentially! believe in the hamster 🫡

MSI Claw too 120hz VRR
@tomd7724 yup, but that device is ruined by its processor
Got mine a week ago , got the lossless scaling app and was getting Indiana jones between 55-60fps , really impressive bit of tech.
i need to check this out!
Does the lossless scaling add any kind of latency when you use it?
The thing is the library of games you can play on this thing is outstanding! Emulators alone will keep you busy for a longgggg time
literally!

Great video. loads of info thank you
Thank you! Glad you liked it 🙏🏻

that makes so much sense lol ill be updating my games settings tonight 😂

they are basically the same internally, outside of a few things like you mentioned. Solid device, really enjoying it so far
I don’t get hand cramps, but every now and then my fingers numb out. And that’s usually after an hour of play.
this happens to me too 😭
will it work on AC supply if battery failed without need for DC ?
perhaps, not sure myself
You don't use your pinky to hold up the steamdeck tho lol
just how my hand naturally holds it lol
maybe it’s my hands 😭
@ayemaldo come on bro the deck is huge ... how large are your hands for you to be tucking your pinky under the screen
lol i guess big
Tip: eyes on the camera.
thanks, realized after in editing and said fuck it

2 and a half hours? Boy you need to go through some optimization on your games. I can run RDR2 comfortably at 60fps for 5h more or less lol
i’ll def keep messing with them, i need to check out RDR2 on it
whats your settings?
Settings or it did not happen (joke) but please let us know haha
5hours wtf how 😮😮
Took mines back for the legion go no regrets!!!!!
Legion Go does have that nice screen!
16gb of ram is not enough bro i know the screen is gorgeous.
I cant defend the legion go. The software seems so bad and it looks incredibly uncomfortable to hold
I got the legion go 2 weeks ago. The display is worth the buggy software. A 7" screen is just not enough for me.
