Scotty Kilmer I replaced the blower motor resistor on my 94 Toyota 22RE and it’s still blowing weak. I replaced because it used to stopped blowing after 20 mins of driving and blowing weak, but it’s still blowing weak.

Thank you for the video. My hyundai Santafe's ac (cool/heat) works fine. I have recently noticed that sometimes I can hear the fan responding to the fan speed knob normally but the air from vents is so weak and I hear like the air is being leaked somewhere inside above the glove box. My cabin filter is new and it makes no difference if I run the fan without a filter too. Can you please advice what could be the issue ?

I had two problems in the blower assemblies (yes, I got 2) in my car. Each blower assembly has 2 relays, I replaced all 4, then the right side blower stopped working due to the worn out motor brush. I bought slightly bigger brushes, filed them down to the correct size and both blowers work flawlessly ever since. I had a 3rd problem that stopped the blowers working and it was a cracked solder joint in the fuse box. I resoldered all the cracked joints in both fuse panels. Overall the 4 relays cost the most of the whole repair job.

More like just the price of the part. He was a great mechanic...really superb and very honest. Had the most loyal following you can imagine. Have a million dollar plus 12 cylinder Ferrari that no one could tune just right? He was your man. Mercedes 600 that even the dealer's techs had never seen? He was factory-certified! That sort of man. You should have seen his little office at xmas time...filled with gifts even though he would specifically ask people not to bring them.
He didn't take just anyone for a customer. He gave preference to people who needed their cars for work not when they were just parts of large collections, though he had a fair number of those, they had to wait for repairs.

Blend door or actuator or computer problem. Analyzer can determine whether a signal from the computer is being sent to the actuator and whether the actuator is responding and therefore where in the system the problem lies. Common issue. All this assumes you have a "modern" vehicle.

    Hello Scotty,
I have a 2016 Nissan Altima SR and recently had a new compressor put on (crazy to believe the vehicle only had 63K miles), all in all they could not figure out what was wrong with the old compressor and replaced which got me cooling. But aside from that my question is now (just like in this video) the air doesn't blow strong. But what is more interesting is that it starts off at a good pressure, but then I'd say after the vehicle has been cooling for about 15-20 mins (sometimes longer) the pressure gets low and weak to where I don't feel it. Most times if I crank it up to full blast I can hear it, and then it finally pushes through, but I don't want it on full blast all the time. Would what I'm describing be the blower motor resistor, like in this video? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Scott we replaced our a/c piping and rad in the back and a little pin hole in the front aluminium a/c hose on our 2010 grand caravan. It worked fine for a couple of seasons but now on occasion you can hear like air or a really loud harley going through the pipes from the front to back for a couple of seconds then stops once it reaches the rear. But recently its been getting worse. Do you have an idea what this could be?
    Thanks

Really good video. The blower, or the blower regulator failed in my Mercedes yesterday. It would only blow air for a few seconds and stop, or not blow any air at all... Mercedes wanted 500 Euros to change it, I politely refused and decided to change the thing myself. Gonna buy the parts from the warehouse that supplies Mercedes with parts and swap it out next week.

So it turns on on 4 and blows like 1. It is cool air that is blowing, just very weak air. I changed the resistor and that didn't do anything. You have any thoughts on what it might be?

Hey Scotty, car was running greaet but today
i installed push button start system in my ford escort zx2 178k MTX, turn it on with the button, then i turned it off and the on then off then on then off, at the 5th time that i dis this consecutively, smoke came out under the hood on the passenger side.
then the rpm's went low and then the car died, since i started it on and off and on and off , would there be a chance that the smoke was caused by the timing belt jumping or something for starting in and shutting it off consecutively so quickly? or not.
car now starts , rpms go as normal, then they slow down and then the car dies, unless i give it gas. as long as i give it gas the car will stay on but as soon as i let go , rpms go down and it dies.
if no the timing, then what could it be ? car was running great before that.

I’m having this same issue on my jimmy but it doesn’t always do it.... it will run fine then out of nowhere it will blow really weak for a minute & then blow normal again... is this the same issue?

I have this same issue, except the blower motor works fine, thus the airflow is still weak. I assume there's a blockage in the system somewhere, but I lack the know-how and the tools to diagnose where the blockage in airflow is. I first tried replacing the cabin air filter. I also tried one of those evap core cleaners that you shove up the drain hose, but it didnt seem to improve much. any tips?

check the intake area for kleenexes or blockage. If not that, often just a worn out blower motor not spinning fast enough

I kinda recently did this on my mom's Jeep Liberty, 2 kinda bad placed bolts but no big deal, the swearing part was that little dang connector, you know, the Chrysler ones that you gotta get a little pick to undo them, I was so mad I threw a pair of needle nose pliers on the floor and they punctured the thick rubber carpet. But most of the time I talk to myself: what would scotty do in this situation, he doesn't swear (on video) he's always so nice and calm, and this actually gets me to cool down

scotty will frequently turning on and off the air con lead it to failure? i drive a 2010 and have had no issues ever, but just thinking

Na, most modern systems can handle that fine, as in many auto climate control systems they run the a/c nearly all the time except when it's below freezing temps.

On my mums Ssangyong Rodius when the car is heating there isn't as much airflow, the blower is going at the same speed but it isn't as powerful as when the car is cooling. Is this just the airflow resistance of the heater matrix? It has quite a large difference between the two.

Hey Scotty! I have a 99 BMW 323is with a similar problem. When I increase the fan speed it goes faster, but when it's on full blast the air that comes out of the vent is still weak. Is this the same problem?
    Thanks!

I have a 2020 corolla le. I just noticed that when i turn up the heat to the max and just turn it off. The fan stops blowing air but heat still comes from the vents when I’m driving but when I set the temperature to low and turn off the system the heat stops coming from the vents. Is this normal?

Have a 1990 Oldsmobile 88. My car has a problem with it not blowing at a fast top speed. It ranges in speed, has like 10 of them, but full blast is just... weak.

Often a bad blower motor or air is leaking out somewhere in the hvac case (check the blower motor's mounting screws to see if they're tight).
