Don't think that's happening. That kind of thing requires a lot of manpower, a lot of knowledge, and a lot of time; All of which Hyrule currently lacks in spades, especially for the Hylians. Manpower is simple enough; The population simply isn't big enough to construct a full fledged capital in anything less than 10 years. Education is also simple: Most of the kingdom's architects are long dead, and the population is more concerned with basic survival than luxuries like education. Time is also self explanatory; Given that Tears of the Kingdom is set in the exact same Hyrule with near 1 to 1 resemblance to the previous one, it's most likely set less than a year after the events of the previous game, which is not enough time for anything complex. Quite simply, the main issue is that Hyrule simply doesn't have enough time to recover.

I doubt we'll get *more*, but I think we'll see some significant changes. From what I've heard, TOTW is set immediately after BOTW, but we don't know what that exactly means - is that literally at the end of the cut scenes after BOTW ends, or weeks, months, or even a few years later? I'd be inclined to believe it isn't immediate, which would mean the malice around the castle would be gone and possibly the effects of the blood moon would be gone (since that's a "refueling of Ganon's power"). To me, that means the residents of Hyrule are safer, and would mean starting or growing families or further expanding towns and cities.
The timeframe is the determining factor, because people *will* be comparing this to BOTW. If it's set a few days later but Gerudo Town expanded its walls, that doesn't make a lot of sense - how could that kind of construction be done in that short of a period? If nothing changes but it's been a few years, it's going to reflect more on the developers and to why nothing has changed during that period.
Either way, I think it'd be a cool idea to see one or two small peaceful encampments of those that no longer wanted to be a part of, say, Rito Village or Kakariko.

I think TOTK being about vertical exploration makes a LOT of sense. In all of the trailers, we've seen Link either deep below or high above the land of Hyrule. As you said yourself, it would serve as a great compliment to BOTW's horizontal exploration. Theory (pieced together by me and others over at Famiboards): As you progress through the game, you will need to rebuild the Sky Island. You will have the ability to raise chunks of Hyrule back into the sky. By doing so reverses time on said chunks which would explain why they look different once they are actually in the sky. The more chunks you raise, the more they will eventually start to connect together. In some of the shots, you see roads and pathways on the island chunks that do not connect to anything but upon rebuilding the entire sky kingdom, these will all form one large sky kingdom. Could be Skyloft, could be the original Zonai kingdom. Maybe the two are actually one of the same. As you send chunks back into the sky, there will be craters on the surface world that likely can be explored revealing secrets and underground stuff to explore.
The Tears of the Kingdom is exactly that. Each island chunk is a tear that has fallen from the great kingdom that once was. Also represents tears in a kingdom as it was ripped apart. Your job is to restore the original kingdom. This will play a major role in defeating the evil and what not. Don't know how the entire story will work out but I feel confident that the core gameplay loop is restoring a long lost sky kingdom likely tied to the Zonai race that was done dirty by Ganondorf. As you send each chunk back in time which propells the pieces back into the sky, the former kingdom slowly becomes restored. It's been clear since the first trailer that time mechanics play a huge role and that island pieces can be raises as you saw Hyrule castle lift from the ground leaving behind a crater. Now we have enough evidence and information to piece together the restoration of the sky island and original Zonai race that inhabited said land.

didn't skyloft return to the ground though?

    • @Quantum_Plus
      @Quantum_Plus Год назад +7

My theory is that all the islands are part of the great plateau and other points of interest, as these places are a threat to Ganondorf. As monster maze stated in his analysis, the area where link jumps off the island, there are the islands that have different climates such as snow (similar to the snowy area on the great plateau)
Ganondorf want to take out these points of interest as they serve a threat to his plan (whatever that is) the great plateau houses the shrine of resurrection and was a key area where link woke up in breath of the wild. If ganondorf takes out the shrine of resurrection, then the hero can't come back (in this iteration, as link could die and then simply be reborn many years later)

With Death Mountain in the new trailer spewing out Malice, it's possible the whole korok forest is covered in Malice, or its fallen beneath the ground. It would be a plausible attack by Ganon to keep them from returning the Master Sword to its pedestal.

Considering Link’s “beam me up” ability requires him to be directly beneath his target, I think this could funnel players to locations they weren’t obligated to go to in BOTW.
Say there’s an interesting island up in the sky. The player decides to make that their destination and travels to reach it from below. Say this takes them to Deya Lake. Knowing players would come here, the designers can place a cool gauntlet or an enemy outpost guarding the spot the player needs to vrorp up from.

In Zelda 2 there’s a town that is abandoned, and filled with invisible monsters. Only later, do you discover the townspeople have created a hidden village in the woods after fleeing an attack on their home. Given the absence of any settlements besides stables in these trailers so far, I think it's safe to assume that places such as Hateno Village will probably have developed in some way, or spread out more, and some may even have moved to different locations. There's also the potential that ruined settlements from pre-calamity may have been rebuilt, if enough time has passed, but that might be a bit of a stretch, programming and development wise, especially if the rumoured cave networks and underwater exploration in addition to sky islands are in fact real. I think it being the same Hyrule is great, but I do have one concern. The video calls attention to the big target in the Gerudo Highlands still being there, and with BOTW that was a big environmental hint. If those kind of suspicious elements still exist, then we would either be repeating exploration to unlock something, which feels boring, or these hints no longer indicate the presence of anything, which would go against the way the world was meant to work originally. I'm curious to see how they approach this.

Perhaps they just haven't removed it yet and will for the final game
Or maybe shrines will serve some new purpose somehow, or only work as fast travel points (only for the surface though) if you can reactivate them
It could be there's some sheikah researcher npc that could have gone there to study the shrine and pedestal and you can do some side quest for them

I think that while it will still play a role in the series later on, it would be better if it didn’t occur during TOTK for several reasons, as it might undermine other games and undoing a past tragedy like the Great Calamity removes any consequences for failure of the Hero and Princess, trivializing life lost.

I think one way to make the overworld still relevant would be seeing the people's of Hyrule rebuild after the calamity and seeing the world further heal. We saw a little of this in breath of the wild but I think the fact that Princess Zelda has returned would definitely help boost a sense of tying to get things back to the way they should be. Cleaning up the landscape and building.

Nice work Zeltik! You’re always an eagle eye when it comes to these trailers lol
With the islands and caves looking like a big part of the game, I can see a lot of fresh areas for exploration, even though it’s mostly the same Hyrule.
I do have some theories/ hopes for the game: I kinda hope some of the areas on the map have changed drastically. I feel like that’s one of the reasons we are still getting small teases of this game, and not a big showcase of many other areas of Hyrule, as they don’t want to risk spoiling some of the bigger map changes. Obviously I could be wrong but it is a little weird that most of what we see in these teases are newer sky island areas and not the more familiar Hyrule from BOTW. Just a thought.
I for one would love to have a portion of the game take place a bit in the land beyond Hyrule, all that area at the edge of the map from BOTW. It wouldn’t have to be a huge second map or anything, but just something where it really feels like you’re adventuring way outside the kingdom, for some special purpose. Especially now that we will be so high up, and presumably be able to see way down there, how great would it be to dabble in that land that we couldn’t reach before? Not expecting that really but that would be cool

What I am hoping to see in Tears of the Kingdom is the return of the Successors of Hyrule’s Champions(Sidon, Yunobo, Teba and Riju). Instead being sidelined, they should be fighting along side Link as each have build confidence & strength to defend Hyrule from the very threat each shared. Maybe on a side quest perhaps since Death Mountain is infested with Ganondorf’s malice. Also, the sequel of Breath of the Wild needs to confirm whether if they remember their victories from the Age of Calamity timeline since each are pulled to this reality to save this version of the Champions, Link and Zelda. Just like Ocarina of Time, changing the past can create two or three diverted timelines. It is complicated but time travel has always been a part of the Legend of Zelda lore.

The actual gameplay map may have the same terrain, but I predict the manmade features and a lot of environment will be different. Or we'll get a contemporary version (from BotW), and an ancient version that's mostly new. Fingers crossed.

You should want them to take as much time on this sequel as they can, even if the next trailer is four or five months from now, they don't need to rush any of this. It sounds like you're severely underestimating the talent and dedication to meticulous work that the Zelda team has.
Stop acting like this is going to be a carbon copy of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, it's called a sequel for a reason. I can't stand to come across pessimistic comments like yours, when the first four words in your comment starts with " _Genuinely worried about this_ ", you make it sound like your worries are going to come to fruition when they are completely unfounded, you shouldn't entertain disappointing scenarios when there's nothing to be concerned about in the first place. Nintendo heard enough feedback about the flaws of BotW and nothing has been addressed or shown in THREE trailers so far, and this trailer even has a 'game footage not final' disclaimer at the start. There is enough to be worried that this game will not be able to move away from the 'unused DLC ideas from BotW' and not its own separate world.

@@zyrixis9650 Boy you really don't understand how video game development works do you? A lack of gameplay footage is not proof of " flaws not being addressed ". Game footage not final means exactly what it means, the game is still in the developmental stages, it's NOT complete yet. How do you not understand this simple concept? Video game development takes time, sometimes a considerably beefy amount of time. Also, Breath of the Wild was being developed in a pre-covid world. Have you forgotten that E3 was cancelled in 2020, which I'm sure had caused a lot of issues for all video game developers, then in 2021, E3 only had digital press conferences and zero physical interactions, and then E3 was cancelled AGAIN this year due to some omicron variant or some sh*t. This game is going to be significantly larger than Breath of the Wild, which is already inconceivable to think about, and the producer of the Legend of Zelda had uploaded a video on RUclips detailing why they moved the release date up to next spring, they want to ensure that they take as much time as humanly possible with this sequel to ensure that it lives up to it's name.
I'd much rather them keep it under wraps instead of spoiling us every two or three months with gameplay footage that they wouldn't have been ready to show to begin with. Maybe if you were modest in your expectations, you wouldn't be this worrisome and paranoid over like I said, UNFOUNDED WORRIES. That's right, UNFOUNDED WORRIES.
Breath of the wild was delayed MULTIPLE times before it had eventually got released, and again, this was in a pre-covid world. Plus, one of the main reasons why Nintendo was so " open " with showing extensive gameplay footage was because it was already established what that Zelda game was going to be, an open world Zelda game, so the title (Breath of the Wild) wouldn't have been a major spoiler. Speaking of spoiling things, that's primarily the MAIN reason why Nintendo had been so tight lipped about the title of this Zelda sequel. The title (tears of the kingdom) could in fact be a double entendre, the word tear is a homonym, two identical words that have different meanings and pronunciations as a result. And when you analyze this most recent trailer, it becomes very evident as to why Nintendo kept the title a secret for so long. For starters, the tears could be referring to those seven hieroglyphic tears that's shown at the beginning of the trailer that's almost encircling that deity (who's presumably hylia), and it could also be referring to the " tears " of the kingdom itself, pieces of the kingdom being torn apart in other words, and to be completely honest, those two plausible theories look to be EXACTLY what's going on here.
I don't care if it was 15 months since the last trailer, heck, I don't care how long it takes, you don't want the day to come when developers stop caring about meticulousness, dedication and hard work and they start succumbing to pressures of impatience from impatient people like you and they begin to release unfinished buggy catastrophes of video games, and then you blame them, ostracize them, and demonize them for doing so when you (plural) wanted them rush through it to begin with and not take their time with it and ONLY show gameplay footage when it was absolutely necessary.
When it's all said and done, you're overdramatizing a trivial disclaimer that's only informing viewers that the footage that they're seeing on-screen is NOT the final product. So with that in mind, I'm going to humbly advise you once again to STOP WORRYING, don't get a dang ulcer worrying about a carbon copy that's never going to happen. I don't want to have to explain this again, this is as elementary as ABC 123.

Quite frankly, if they incorporate actual, traditional dungeons to explore, I'll count that as an upgrade enough. Exploring the beautifully crafted Hyrule only to find another shrine in the exact same palette/tileset as the others that came before, was always a lackluster reward to me.
