Thanks for pointing out that iNAV doesn't offer DSHOT with the previous v3 model, that I have in my quad. I wasn't aware of that. I wanted to give iNAV a try but will stay with Betaflight for now. I guess at some point, I could upgrade to the V4 FC version while keeping the old ESC on the lower deck.
Hi Lee, Great video and review of the Speedybee F405 stack. Im impressed, I might have to get one. Thanks again for the video and information
Awesome review, Lee! Thanks! 😃
Looking forward to the build series!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
The ESC is a bit of an unusual design: 5 (not an even 6) FETs aren't covered by the heatsink, while an uneven 7 are covered by that nice heatsink. Not sure if that is something I've seen before or whether it matters in the end.
FWWI, you can re-pin the DJI cable into the connector included with your HDZero Freestyle VTX.
definitely gonna get one of these! Have a larger frame with an old controller that this looks perfect for! Will definitely be following your build!
Been doing hardcore freestyle with the speedy ee v3s for 6+months and the two i have have been great handeled all my abuse
@ 1:08 *Let us all take a moment to appreciate the dab of glue added to support the VTx plug.*
_Now let us question why just that plug lol?_ I use Foam Tac for the same purpose, as well as any soldered wires for support. There was a time when USB connectors were held on flight controllers with nothing but Hopes and Dreams, and this became the fix. Comes off cleaner than hot glue, and no worries for electricity. Thanks for covering the V4 changes, Sir. The 4 V3's I've installed have been primo, minus the 20x20 I have in an anniversary-build 500mm quad that I just can't de-wobble for the life of me. It's like I pissed off the I-Term calculator script and it's being broody lol
Nice. If I had a wish! the pcb pads had holes in them like the MAMBA had. poke wire from below and solder on top ! )
I can't wait to buy one! ! ! !
Damn, I just purchased the F7 stack :) I do have the V3 and it is a great bang for the buck but I had problems with gyro noise and the unusual DMA configuration that prevents INAV to have DSHOT is a downer as well though nothing critical for my build (7" long ranger).
As an owner of the board, I am unimpressed. The board was shipped with a bad bootloader for updating. The heat sink makes soldering harder. And somehow it looks like it blew a capacitor on motor 1 on day two. I wouldnt call it an improvement on the v3 other then the camera data displaying more
I wish companies would put the cam and vtx pads on the side. I've flipped my ESC around so either I run my cam + vtx wires across the board or I run the ESC wires under the board. Putting the pads in the middle would be a good compromise.
edit: Or massive brain idea. Most of these companies are putting two cam pads on the board. Put a cam and vtx connection on the front and back of the board. The two cams can be for separate cameras and the vtx pad can be redundant.
Watched a video a few days ago where a new speed re ord was set with a quad copter, 250 mph . A challenge I think you might best . Project includes 3D printing frame for aerodynamics , tweeking pids, camera, heck of a challenge, arms have be wings as speed run unit is 90 degrees over ...I'm having trouble describing this thing ...but can you break 300mph ? Is the engineer inside going well if.....Take care my friend .
looks good
all I want for Christmas is a speedybee stack
*(with built-in pinio for the 9V BEC)*
edit : *(with built-in pinio for the 9V BEC that isn't prone to blowing up like the one on the Mamba F722-Wing tends to)*
edit2 : does the V4 board support dshot in inav? the V3 board didn't.
Hello Lee, I couldn't find any information if this works with ardupilot, do you happen to know?
List of supported hardware here - ardupilot.org/copter/docs/common-autopilots.html#closed-hardware
Would this flight controller be considered the latest and greatest for planes and wings also? Or what is the latest?
If you want a wing/plane build, check out the building series on the channel. I'd get one of the flight controllers designed for a wing/plane ; Matek F411-WTE, Matek F405-WMN, Matek F405-Wingv2 or SpeedyBee F405-Wing..
I do not understand why speedybee keep in f405 i use avput 5 stacks of f405 v3 and its so bad . Big problem with log and osd . My last stack its not working at all if i put in cd card its so bad so i do not recomend any f405 from speedybe
Is it 55 amps total or 55 amps per motor?
Per motor
Can someone tell me what GPS I need to have Altitude Hold. This board has built-in compass. ( I THINK)
Thank for the help..
I'd use an external compass so any of the M8 or M10 based GPS units with a compass will work. See my INAV builds, I tend to use Matek GPS units... Happy flying
I was just about to ask the same thing…
Is this a 30x30mm stack ?
Yes, this one is 30x30. They have a smaller F405 Mini version as well that is 20x20. But it's a different product.
Inav, dhsot 😭🔫
