    I've been flying the v3 all summer and have been enjoying it. I'm glad SpeedyBee continues to innovate and produce quality products for a very reasonable price. I know others have mentioned concerns about their ESCs catching fire, but I've never had an issue. Cheers 🍻

      Mine caught fire today. Very disappointed. I’ve built plenty of quads. No reason for it.

    Well that explains why they"ve been selling the f405 v3 for $10 off. I stocked up and bought 3 of those and 3 of the f4 mini. A guy can never have too many stacks. I've been using the v3 in 4 different quads for quite a while and love them. For the $$$ you can't beat them, and with Bluejay not only do you get bidirectional dshot, but cool start up tunes.

    Great overview Ian. Regarding video title, I'd suggest using "F405" vs. "F4", as may storefronts use "F4" to refer to F411 flight controllers. F411's lack UARTs, working memory, etc compared to F405's.
    While Speedybee doesn't list Ardupilot capability on it's website, the v3 is listed as compatible hardware on ArduPilot/ArduCopter docs/wiki. Having bario/compass support makes this F405 stack. It would be nice if Speedybee actually stated ArduPilot compatibility (forthcoming) for this F405 v4.
    Perhaps this FC stack could be inspiration for your next arducopter build, as we also have a number of HD video options available going into 2024?

    I have gotten 5 of these since August each ordered separatedly , but the wing edition which was about 38€ incl. 19% VAT and shipping.
    Great value, great packaging and full set of accessories which means even the presoldered cables.
    I like them a lot and prefer those over the Matek fixed wing F405 - the old one and even the new one cause Matek asks now for the new edition (they had not delivered FC for over 2 years) over 58€
    China is not under INFLATION, but 5% deflation so their costs are decreasing and that allowed SpeedyBee to go this way for new products. Matek is just taking what they think the people in the west under inflation pressure should be willing to pay after they had not delivered for over 2 years.
    Great experience so far. At least for the fixed wing edition. But be aware they are expecting export sanctions for drones and even flight controllers where it is not clear if this will only hit the western countries cause I had asked about that topic. We usually need 20 each year for holiday camps and therefore had to fill up our stock so we avoided to order 5 at once to not be hit by sanctions and ordered every week one after the previous had been shipped. With 4 guys and 5 weeks we have gotten the 20 we need.
    Shipping was about 5 days once you got the dhl number (EU), fastest shipping in the whole industry from a manufacturer or vendor in China that has no EU warehouse. Extraordinary fast and reliable.

    I started with the speedybee f7v3. My first diy drone. Built a master 5 v2 with supernova motors. Hooked up the f7 stack and it would not recognize receiver. Tried 2 different brand new ones. Radiomaster rp3 to go with my new boxer radio. And then a happymodel diversity dual antenna. Anyways couldn't get it to work so ordered a f4 v4 today 😁 hoping i can get that to work. Do you think the 2 esc are interchangeable? I think something was off with the firmware of f7 and superbee app. Idk. I tried to flash firmware or changed msp and now no lights or anything. Something does beep when powered on but not like before. Think the flight controller is gone. Hence the f4 😉 hoping v4 will work better with app. Any tips or things i should do? 😁

    Hello my friend! Thanks for your great video! One question: I have the F405 V3 and try to use blackbox with SDCard but no sucess. I tried to change the settings, use BF 4.4.X, 4.3.X, 4.2.X but nothing worked... I tried both SDHC 8GB and SDXC 64 GB... Format them to FAT32 with 4096, 8192, and all kb possible... I also did a partision with only 2GB on the cards but no sucess... Any ideia what may be happening, and how I can fix it and finally use the blackbox? Thank you so much in advance, BR.

    Sadly I couldn't see in their documentation whether or not the 9V BEC (aka VTX) is ON/OFF switchable via an AUX channel, as some other stacks (not too many) do. IMHO this is a really nice feature to have.

    • @AerialWaviator
      @AerialWaviator 10 месяцев назад

      While F722 can have higher clock speeds, it has less working memory, and fewer i/o capabilities. Features that mater if used for a purpose other than racing, or a freestyle build, particularly if using a FC OS like INAV, or Ardupilot that have larger memory footprint and offer additional features. F405's have a large number of UART's, i/o protocols and PWM channels.

    Speedybee wrote in the product page _The F405 V3 FC faced compatibility issues with certain microSD cards, with a few even occasionally affecting the stable OSD display._
    But doesn't the v3 have the issue with any microSD card because the OSD and blackbox shares same SPI bus?
    Do you think speedybee is dishonest here, not saying the truth, downplaying the issue and not admitting they made a design flaw in the v3 board?

    They need to fix this board again. The cutout for the fpv camera is not compatible on some frames.
    For examples: Apex EVO 5" FPV Fram, Steele 5 or Similar style.
    Issues:
    1) You can't have press nuts underneath the board because the 8 pins connector(Esc) is landing on top of the press nuts.
    2) The stack height is wrong. the website said 16.1mm. You also need to add the USB C height as well. if you have press nuts underneath the board and your frame usable space is 21mm(H). You are screw.
    All they need to do is fix the 8 pins connector. They need to move it forward. That's all. lol

    a newbie here, whats bidirectional d-shot?

    • @lowdashfpv
      @lowdashfpv 10 месяцев назад

      DSHOT is the protocol that the flight controller and ESCs use to communicate. It used to be one-way, with the FC sending commands to the ESC and that was it. Bidirectional DSHOT allows the ESC to now send telemetry back to the FC as well. It helps with some Betaflight filters and such. In regular BLHeli firmware, bidirectional DSHOT isn't supported. It's only in BLHeli32, which mandates faster, 32bit processors on the ESCs themselves instead of the 8 bit ones like on this stack. IIRC, the BLHeli devs said it couldn't be done because of resource constraints on the 8bit processors. After a while, the BlueJay (and another, JESC, I think), came out and implemented it, proving it could. Some manufacturers still ship BLHeli on their ESCs, but most can simply be reflashed to BlueJay to get that functionality.
