I think it’s also important when comparing fair’s, pichu’s hitbox is on his entire body while pikachu’s is only on his head and not his whole body. You can also say the same about Dair
Thinking about it, their differences really make sense. Pikachu is able to control his electricity more easily, but Pichu isn't. Since the latter can't absorb and hold too much at once, he always let's out much more. Pichu is basically Pikachu before he put limiters on himself. Due to this, Pichu has more electricity in attacks (therefore he's much stronger), but damages himself in the process.
One thing I like to point out is that Pikachu and Pichu's UpBs are based off entirely different moves from their original contexts and thus are named differently. Pikachu's UpB is "Quick Attack", while Pichu's UpB is "Agility".
I mean yes I know. With Marth you get more of a risk reward factor. Also, if you get the marth combos setups and grind, HE IS BUSTED. He can kill you from zero and and stuff. His dancing blade is also amazing if mastered
When it comes to characters that carry over a lot of traits from another, I feel whoever or not they get a "pass" on it depends entirely on the character. For this reason, I'm actually cool with Pichu having plenty taken from Pikachu because, well, it kinda makes sense since Pichu is literally just a baby Pikachu. It's when you get cases like Ganondorf that I draw the line because for one, Ganondorf is the main villain of Zelda and secondly, what does he even have in common with Captain Falcon? Pretty much nothing other than them being Nintendo characters. Plus, if you've played any Zelda game with Ganondorf as the main villain, you'd know just how much the man has to offer in terms of a unique moveset. Pichu though? Nah, I'm cool with it, sure it would be nice to see him get his own moveset but as he is? It's fine.
Ganondorf was barely put into melee, the only reason he made it was because his proportions were similar to captain falcon, so they copied his moves onto Ganondorf.
As a Pikachu main, there are a TON of noticeable differences when playing between the two. Pikachu has much more combo capability, while also having more BS juggles. Pikachu's up throw down special combo is easier to pull off vs Pichu's, due to the fact that Pikachu's is slightly slower, but doesn't affect the actual combo. I have also noticed that Pichu gets Pineappled with his side special more than Pikachu's, maybe that's just bad luck, I dunno. For aerials, Pichu's fair and dair are easier to hit, and do more damage, but Pikachu's fair is easier to combo over and over again for a cheeky thirty percent. Pikachu has a MUCH better nair, Pichu's doesn't do as much damage, is a single hit, and looks worse. (Not that that affects the gameplay, just sayin.) It works for Pichu, only because of the self damaging. He needs a few moves that don't kill him slowly. I find Pikachu easier to play as, more consistent, and better in the combo department. Pichu kills much earlier, has slightly more powerful and fast specials, or any electric attack, actually, and is harder to play against. If I had to pick, well, like I said, I'm a Pikachu main, so Pikachu, but Pichu is no slouch. If you want to main one of them, here is my input. You like powerful attacks, while still being a quick character? Pichu is for you. You like characters that are good all around, plus a nasty combo game, but not Mario since he's too generic for you? Pikachu.
Nice, thanks! In terms of frame delay between the moment you input an attack and it's effective against the enemy, is there a particularly noticeable difference, if I may ask?

I’d love to see a series where someone takes 2 similar characters and gives them points depending on whose move is better. Like a point for whoever has the better Forward Smash, Up Air and so on
It's weird, because on paper they sound super similar but you play them completely different. I like both, I'm better with Pikachu but Pichu's aggressive, all or nothing, rage playstyle is fun, like a tiny Lucario that can give itself aura.
@@Cream12345Ice Pichu is good but not like top tier like people used to think because the nerfs did quite a bit. Ness and lucas are the same but the opposite at the same time (if you look at Ness' moves,Lucas' moves work in the exact opposite way,for example multi-hits and 1 hits)
IM not going to delve too into it, but I like Pichu for the sole purpose of the "high-risk high reward" aspect. I think the self-damage while being a bad trait to have, makes Pichu more unique, and its balance pretty well with the damage output. Also, i also feel like Pichu's down air is easier to spike with. I don't know if that's a fact(with the hitboxes and stuff), but i definitely feel more comfortable with Pichu
Both are great. I use Pikachu very often when I play Smash, because some of the moves can combo well. With Pichu, he is more like a close range of the two.
The difference between pikachu and pichu One bigger other smaller One fatter other thinner One stronger other weaker One takes damage doing attacked other doesn’t
@@plapin3538 I consider it balance between the damage it takes for extra effect. And technically lore wise, Pichu cannot use its power properly, causing it give too much. Like how a baby rattlesnake is more dangerous than a normal rattlesnake cause the baby will keep on giving you venom for as long as it can while the adult will give you set amount you need to leave it alone. IDK, just rambling at this point
so basically Pikachu has more range and power than Pichu unless Pichu is using an electric attack. Makes sence since pichu can't control it's electricity it will release more than it needs to.
What's the difference between Pikachu and Pichu? Well, Pikachu can duck under Wolf's laser without taking damage, but Pichu can't! Yet Pichu is smaller, it doesn't make sense!
I very much prefer and main pichu because his weaker moves, combined with his more vertical knockback, give him a far superior combo game. Plus, his faster falling speed alone makes him feel a lot faster
(2:24) Sight nitpick. Pikachu does 15.7%, and Pichu does 16.8% with 1.5% self damage, meaning the net gain is 15.3% only. In this way, Pikachu has a higher damage net gain.
If I recall, Pichu's Thunder won't hurt him if the attack is obstructed by a platform or done going forward or backwards while mobile. Only when the attack's lightning bolt makes impact on Pichu, will he deal damage to himself.
I still think that it'd be very appropriate for this series if you did a Marth vs. Roy video. To anyone with even an ounce of time/research put into both of them, they're rightfully two completely different characters, but on the very surface or just to anyone that thinks the FE characters are a Pandora's Box they don't want to open, they basically have identical movesets.
even though i'm aware of all their differences now and that their down airs can meteor smash, i sometimes use the down special instead if the opponent is at the right amount of height above me
InProgressPokemon created Piachu, who could become a balanced version between these two characters if Piachu were to be existent, canon, and then playable in Smash Bros.
One has its power in control. The other lets out so much that it hurts to use its electric power. Pichu has uncontrollable power, which is why it's so powerful. Pikachu can keep its power in check and use it fluently.
It is not a feeling if you land Pichu's spike more often. His spike stays active for 4 frames and his ears are invincible, but Pikachu stays active for 2 frames. #THEMOREYOUKNOW

I prefer Pichu
Both are great. I use Pikachu very often when I play Smash, because some of the moves can combo well. With Pichu, he is more like a close range of the two.
Pikachu has a westler alt that makes her adorable.
Pikachu is a boy. >:(
@@pikachuwolf6812 Not the wrestler.
you are right :(
That is a different pikachu and it is a girl
That is pikachu libre best of the cosplay
Characters like Pichu and Pikachu deserve to be S-Tier just because of how technical and high risk they are.
One thing : Pichu is cute
One other thing : pikachu is fat
Pichu is cuter and that makes him better
Of course guys
In other news we had to wait nearly 20 years for Raichu to even make an appearance in Super Smash Bros
You forgot about pikachu’s up air having like 3 or 4 different hit boxes in different areas.
They should've called Pichu's side B Wild Charge. Not only is it an actual Electric-Type move, it also does recoil in the main Pokémon games.
The difference between pikachu and pichu
One bigger other smaller
One fatter other thinner
One stronger other weaker
One takes damage doing attacked other doesn’t
Ironically, pichu’s attacks are stronger. It.. doesn’t make sense.
Finally, One of my favourite RUclipsr makes a video about my Main. (Pikachu)
What’s the difference between captain falcon and ganondorf
Alot of things
Wait... I thought they were the same character!
Anonymous Trash Ganon has a Sword now!
so basically Pikachu has more range and power than Pichu unless Pichu is using an electric attack. Makes sence since pichu can't control it's electricity it will release more than it needs to.
Pichu is cuter.
Thats right tails
What's the difference between Pikachu and Pichu? Well, Pikachu can duck under Wolf's laser without taking damage, but Pichu can't! Yet Pichu is smaller, it doesn't make sense!
Next up: differences between Fox, Falco and Wolf.
Ben Huang
They’re so different that wouldn’t even work as a video
@Ben Huang I think just wolf and fox, they are pretty much the same
Wolf's neutral B is more spammable
I very much prefer and main pichu because his weaker moves, combined with his more vertical knockback, give him a far superior combo game. Plus, his faster falling speed alone makes him feel a lot faster
yea
You forgot about the grab pummel and throws
He says the grabs are almost the same while the pummels are like .1% difference
(2:24) Sight nitpick. Pikachu does 15.7%, and Pichu does 16.8% with 1.5% self damage, meaning the net gain is 15.3% only. In this way, Pikachu has a higher damage net gain.
Pikachu for stamina and pichu for timed and stock
This is basically, “you want vanilla or chocolate” there moves look almost the same but they taste different.
Lol mario gets bullied like crazy in each summary video
Pikachu more faster than Pichu??!! DAFAK
I don’t see why they didn’t put raichu in the game to so we can play all the evolutions
I mean… Pichu can have a flower on his ear, and Pikachu doesn’t, so automatically Pichu wins right??
No
Dang ok
I think it is an apple blossom tbh, and yes
Pichu's recoil is a trade-off for being slightly stronger
If I recall, Pichu's Thunder won't hurt him if the attack is obstructed by a platform or done going forward or backwards while mobile. Only when the attack's lightning bolt makes impact on Pichu, will he deal damage to himself.
One is good
The other is suicidal
Gannon and Captian Falcon
Ness and Lucas
Fox and Falco ( maybe wolf )
Isabelle and Villiger
That's what came to my mind
I still think that it'd be very appropriate for this series if you did a Marth vs. Roy video.
To anyone with even an ounce of time/research put into both of them, they're rightfully two completely different characters, but on the very surface or just to anyone that thinks the FE characters are a Pandora's Box they don't want to open, they basically have identical movesets.
He did it now
Please do more character comparisons! It's been a while since 3 months ago.
great video
Positive comments dude.
Dont you mean the difference between the yellow paper shaped like a mouse and the yellow paper shaped like a mouse but this time it hurts itself
I like Pichu more❤ because he is soooooo light charachter and he has the smallest hitbox🎉
Here's the difference
One wasn't nerfed at all, and the other one was nerfed to all hell
Pichu forward tilt can trip if opponent hasn’t taken much damage
I’m a Pichu main but Pikachu’s lack of self damage is nice
I wish raichu was in smash so we would have a full pika family
A perfect prank for what’s the difference in April’s fools day is what’s the difference with (insert any echo fighter here) and there you go
Ken actually has differences but he could do like olimar and alph or bowser jr and the rest of the koopalings
Pichu is my 7 most used character (Pikachu isn’t in my 6 most used)
And I managed to get a higher distance with pichu than pikachu in home run contest
even though i'm aware of all their differences now and that their down airs can meteor smash, i sometimes use the down special instead if the opponent is at the right amount of height above me
Ok just a note
Pichu’s Up Special send farther but Pikachu has a better horizontal recovery because of Side Special
Ok thanks, see ya
And he also has his own game so that's pretty cool
what about pit and dark pit?
I already knew why Pikachu and Pichu weren't Echo fighters, but what I don't know is WHY ARE RYU AND KEN ECHOS!?
Thank you so much for doing this video!!!
InProgressPokemon created Piachu, who could become a balanced version between these two characters if Piachu were to be existent, canon, and then playable in Smash Bros.
The Thumbnail makes it look like Pichu just slapped Pikachu
One has its power in control.
The other lets out so much that it hurts to use its electric power. Pichu has uncontrollable power, which is why it's so powerful. Pikachu can keep its power in check and use it fluently.
It is not a feeling if you land Pichu's spike more often. His spike stays active for 4 frames and his ears are invincible, but Pikachu stays active for 2 frames.
