Thats ESAMs MO. After watching ESAM lose a match for the first time back when i was an iStudying fan, i saw him acting nice and shaking hands and congratulating iStudying. I was thinking he was forcing it, but after watching more of ESAM i found that's genuinely who he is. Now i'm an ESAM fan whole-heartly. I just hope he can play with some consistency soon. He seems to be choking in the worst ways for the past couple of years.
That ending made me genuinely happy. These two are great examples of how the Smash scene for all games should be. The sportsmanship shown and genuine love of the game is heartwarming.
personally I think that pikachu is noticeably slower, weaker, but harder to kill than pichu, meaning that in this matchup pichu will always have the advantage. Esam and Void are the GOAT at both tho
I think overall Pikachu is better than Pichu against the rest of the roster (better survivability, etc.) but the Pichu-Pika matchup is definitely in Pichu's favor
^ luis, assuming we're talking about movement speed and not move data, pikachu is only faster at run speed, which isn't as important as initial dash. Every other area (fall speed, air speed, dash speed, etc.) they are either tied or pichu is faster.

As much as it pains me that pikachu is so lackluster compared to his diminutive counterpart, VoiD played insanely well and both him and ESAM are excellent players. This was a fantastic set to watch
Pikachu isn't lackluster imo lol, they both have their strengths and weeknesses. I think esam needs to be defensive when it comes to playing against void. He just needs to figure out void will always beat him in the aggressive game but, if he would have been more patient I think it could have worked out. That's easier said than done though.
Cmon man, that's just not true. This is a bad matchup for Pikachu. Pikachu is better than Pichu against most characters. I will say that the aggressive playstyle that ESAM has probably isn't great against a Pichu matchup. I would say that Pichu is meant to be a more aggressive character; and that's partially why the matchup with two aggressive playstyles was in favor of Pichu.

As a Pichu main, I was rooting for Void, obviously. But, this was a hype setup. I have to admit, ESAM was doing pretty well, even though he lost almost all of those games.
