Aiyo , didn't knew u posted this one ady . I tried to DIY this last week but endup gave up midway , drove to friend's workshop . Spent Rm80 for installation
This week my OAP finally failed on me - it no longer have the one way clutch function. The tensioner vibration and noises worsens and there is a noticeable power loss when A/C compressor turns on. The slight vibration I saw few months ago was an early sign.
My car also having the same problem, vibrating sound at the engine area upon the car started moving / slow speed, power loss + belting sound when A/C is turn on. Gonna check OAP 👍
Thanks for the video, one of the pulleys on my 09 Lancer Ralliart probably seized since my engine cranks but doesnt start after i replaced the Serpentine belt. Will have to find out which one and hopefully not the alternator since it looks painful to get to.
Alternator pulley, Idler puller, Tensioner Pulley and AC Compressor Pulley are among the easier to reach. If its the crankshaft pulley or water pump pulley...... I will kill myself. =)
My car got same simptom. Change tensioner and belt 2 times, tensioner bearing 1 time. Next try change this. Hope will fix it. Btw, the belt for 2.0 is 6PK2863 right?
From what you describe, it could either be the alternator pulley or the engine mounts. I have a video that shows the symptoms of faulty engine mounts, Check that out and see if its the same problem you are having.
@@TCsAnythingGoes hmm. does not sounds like the faulty engine mount in ur video le, in fact the symptom only happen after I changed my front lower arm, air filter, spark plug and lubricant (all changed in one shot) abt 2 weeks ago, noticed that the noise kind normally reduced after driving for ~10-15 mins, it is most obvious when start driving in the morning, also the rough noise only heard when car moving (not during idle), does these symptoms matching ur bad alternator pulley symptom? I have replaced back the spark plug, air filter and oil filter, thinking to change the lubricant again, but can't convince myself how the lubricant made the different since I hav been using same lubricant for years. Still scratching my head on wat went wrong. ha
@@weikhim1361 good that you changed back those items to eliminate those as possible causes. Your symptoms does match the bad alternator pulley problem. Do the pulley test I did if you know how to remove the serpentine belt. That would confirm the correct parts to replace.
@@TCsAnythingGoes You are right, the overruning pulley is faulty and jammed when i tested with your method, sent to mechanic for replacement, and the rough noise is gone! Thanks a lot for video, great help indeed. 👍👍👍
it should move freely on both ways. But if you stick a screwdriver into the fins, it should only move one way. If after sticking a screwdriver into the fins and it does not move either way, then the pulley needs to be replaced.
finally got the strength to push the tensioner today. found out that the alternator pulley was not seized. i guess the vibration is within normal then. as long as the fan belt doesn't slapping around or slacking under load, i think it's safe to ignore it.
If you have changed your belt tensioner and it still vibrates, there is a high chance that your overruning alternator pulley is bad. That's what happen to mine.
@@TCsAnythingGoes already replaced tensioner, water pump pulley and timing belt... my mechanic didn't check for alternator pulley condition because it didn't make any noise.
from my experience, it didn't make any noise also. The one making the noise was the belt tensioner. Even after changing the belt tensioner, it was still making noise and vibrating (lesser than before changing the belt tensioner). Then i did the test with the alternator by stuffing a screwdriver inside the fins. That's when i discovered that the pulley for the alternator have jam also.
@@TCsAnythingGoes i think i can postpone replacing the clutch pulley for a while now. it doesn't make any annoying noise and it's now effectively a solid pulley.
If it has jammed to the point that it is stuck, then yes, it can cause the vehicle to not start. A bad alternator, you can still start the car but it will run on your battery till its drained and your car will stall.

This is very severe already. Better to change it fast before it breaks something else along with it.
My car also having the same problem, vibrating sound at the engine area upon the car started moving / slow speed, power loss + belting sound when A/C is turn on. Gonna check OAP 👍

If there is no sound or rough idling, i guess its safe to ignore it. A bit of vibration on the tensioner pulley is normal. It won't be 100% stagnant.
Any other signs or symptoms for bad overruning alternator pulley? New belt tensioner vibrates?

Hello again, bro, wich way looses the tensioner pulley, clock or counterclock?
counter clock will loosen it.
@@TCsAnythingGoes thanks a lot man
Hai. My car is experiencing a short and loud squeaky sound as i press the accelerator. Does it mean that the alternator pulley is in faulty state?
There is that possibility but it could also mean any other one of your pulley is having issues.
@@TCsAnythingGoes what is your suggestion?
Would this pulley cause the vehicle to not start ? Or is my alternator bad
