  • Thanks to Peter Schoch (Dip. MDT, Australia) for this footage of a patient who presented less than 24 hours following an 'acute inversion sprain' of her left ankle. The patient exhibited a directional preference for dorsi-flexion. She rapidly improved within the session; once progressed to clinician mobilisation of dorsi-flexion. The patient self managed with repeated dorsi-flexion with self over pressure (using the towel) over the following 36 hours and returned to full function thereafter, with no other rehab required.
Perhaps not all 'sprained ankles' necessarily need to be managed in the traditional ways we've been taught in the past?
