The human face consists of multiple layers of tissue. To understand the aging process of the face, it is important to understand the unique time-related changes which affect tissue type.

Hello, I’m 20 years old but have annoying chubby cheeks/baby face. I’m very hesitant to go under the knife and get buccal fat removal. I know there are a lot of cons but I honestly hate my face lol. But the problem is my face is flat so I would look gaunt :/ any advice?

Thanks for the great question! It's good to be vigilant about a surgery like buccal fat removal (BCR). BCR is a great solution for chubby cheeks and slimming the face, but can indeed make a minority of individuals look gaunt. Th typically happens with patients who have flatter cheekbones and an appropriately sized buccal fat pad to begin with (over-reduction leads to loss of support in the cheeks). Your candidacy for BCR ultimately depends on your facial anatomy (bone and fat). It is best to have a consultation with a facial plastic surgeon who performs BCR frequently to get their expert opinion.
