OK folks, I've signed up to give you 5 quid a month. Well worth it. I would give more but, as I said, Im considering wasting all my money on boats soon. Just in case you have any problems with getting subscribers, the page I went to following the link, was all in German. Possibly just an IT glitch? Fortunately, I have learned it over the years. You indeed have a unique and very attractive style with your videos. I enjoy them from here on the coast of North Carolina, here in the USA. I especially appreciate the way that you come across in your videos that you are so proud of Britain. With the music you choose and the humor you include, each episode fulfills my idea of what it is to be British and have that exemplary quality of possessing the "old school", "stiff upper lip" your citizens are so famous for. You both, are indeed a gem and credit to your Country and heritage. Continue on, Sailors.
That's really lovely of you to say, it's amazing what selective editing can do for you 😬 Hope you're keeping well on over on your side of the pond and staying as sane as possible in these crazy Covid times.
The south coast was my old sailing area back in the 80's and 90's, together with an occasional channel crossing. Having just discovered your YT channel I am reliving those times once more, and yes, all the ups and downs that go with it too. Great times. Enjoy your journey, I am truly jealous!!
I have gotten the strangest sensation in watching your channel. I feel like I am becoming psychic! There are times when I actually know what Hank is thinking! It's as if dogs are human, too!
Hello there. Just received our first postcard (John and Gill) as we were watching your latest video! The Dart looks none too shabby! perfect ending - wine and cheese. Life just doesn't get better!!
Awesome, glad it made it to you so quickly! The Dart is simply amazing, and we're being told that the waterways get even better further west, which actually seems hard to believe, but we can wait to go and find out! 😁
Ha ha, she certainly has a serious face, but she honestly doesn't have a mean bone in her body. I on the other hand can be super grumpy and so she has the patience of a saint to put up with me every time I get the hump 😂 Basically if you've managed to make Carly angry, you're almost certainly in the wrong 😂
Been binge watching you guys since the past few days and you have become quickly one of my favorite sailing channels. This video is the best I have seen so far, the music, filming and editing all top notch! Come see me when you hit the Mediteranean - Dutchie near Barcelona Spain here!

Glad you enjoyed it, Ray, and we too are envious of anyone who lives down on the Dart, it's such a great example of what this country has to offer and we will certainly come again!
Enjoyed part 2 of 'Ditsum' and 'made' my elderly mother watch it. ( Hoping it would bring back happy family holiday memories -She has Alzheimer's ) All she wanted to know was, " How's the lovely dog's foot?" As we watched it on the PC screen, David Dimbleby's ( 'retired' UK TV anchor/ news ) home flashed up, as he ( simultaneously ) appeared live on BBC TV from his home overlooking the Dart... 'spooky' !
Well you can let your mother know that Hank bounced back in a few hours and was totally fine shortly after. I certainly hope it managed to jingle a few happy memories for her deep down too 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙂

Thank you. I think you do a very professional job with the filming. And it's nice to follow your travels. I suspect our land bases (if you still have one) are not that far apart. I keep thinking about getting a boat. I can sail reasonably well, but I suspect I'd have bigger disasters than you. Pushing 64 with a short stick, I think I shall have to get around to it soon, or not at all. Problem is, Mrs doesn't like the coldness of sailing in the UK. She's OK with Croatia though. Anyway, I sent Dylan Winter a modest bung a while ago for his KTL series. I'd like to do the same for you. Just let me know how.
Well, John we're doing our best to just show off the best, warmest parts of British sailing, so hopefully our rose tinted presentation of these fine isles will help sway her, or, make sure you have a good heating system on the boat and make the interior a cosy little den, you know, candle light type vibe, with some fairy lights dotted about, which I appreciate isn't the most hardened sailor of interiors, but I think the cosier and more romantic the boat looks, the easier it is to want to spend time on it, all year round. Well that's what I'm hoping anyway 🙏🏻🙏🏻😂😂 Honestly, any support from sharing your thoughts here with us in the comments, through to sharing the videos is hugely appreciated and all helps us punch up when it comes to upgrading our systems and safety skills. Outstanding music choices! Well done. I grew up around Dartmouth and lived on a boat on the River Dart. That was a long time ago and you have reminded me just how special a place it is.
Fingers crossed for you your plan all comes together. Glad you enjoyed the videos and it's awesome to think that can be a little inspirational. We too were armchair adventures who were also inspired by others to get up off of the couch (Thanks Uma!). 😁

Cheese & wine ,beautiful scenery and sunshine just about perfect I’d say. I had no idea how amazing river dart was. Must say the quality of your films has improved so much a joy to watch🙂
beautiful river - at the beginning of the video I thought I was watching a real movie in the theater !! what a great drone footage and what a beautiful country it is . And off course ; MY FRIEND HANK !!! what a treat . thanks so much !! bye bye greets from the netherlands
Thank you very much, and glad you enjoyed it. Hank is indeed a super star and this location is breathtaking, so in reality, it's almost hard to shoot bad footage 😬😬🙏🏻
Aye m8’s, brilliant again. And all this pompous music lifting it up to unknown heights together with the drone. You make me glad with your editing and storytelling style, which is kind of unique on it’s own. Thnx for all your efforts making this happen.
Salcombe is geographically lovely but it is the most pretentious town in the UK. I have seen toddlers aged c 18m waddling around the town in FULL expensive sailing kit with their "posh" parents doing the same. I am not convinced they go near a boat!
Guys absolutely love your channel, my Wife and I are 8 years away from doing what your doing, we plan to sell up in 8 years, buy a dream live aboard and go sailing the world for a few years! But one of the most important questions we have over any other is.......where does the dog wee?? We have 2 dogs and we keep asking ourselves the same thing. You can’t get him ashore every single time. Do you use the old patch of Astro turf trick that I have read about where you put a metre square patch on the deck and let the dog do it’s business? There surely must have been times where he’s has wee or number 2 inside or on the deck? Trust me, your answer will give us an invaluable insight!
It's a great question. We do have the turf but he refuses to use it. He fully understands as he's so easy to train, he just. refuses. However, when he has to go, like really has. to go, he reluctantly does. It's a work in progress though still...
When we bought the boat we employed a skipper to help us bring her home from Scotland and during that trip he taught us how to sail her. Although it wasn’t a long trip so there’s only so much he could show us, but we probably have the basics down by now.
By the way I think you are a very grate videographer, the music and the scenes are beautiful. In my inexperienced opinion they are not yet well integrated with the speeches in the middle but your videos are just beautiful! Corona beer is coming! 😂
Yet more spectacular footage of the beautiful Dart. We were last there from the east coast three years ago and still have wonderful memories of our visit - keep up the great work guys!!
I learnt to sail on the Dart and Start Bay, you’ve captured it in the most fantastic way. Excellent work, I miss the nuances of that river. Mind the keel crossing Flat Owers, many a sailor been caught on that beauty!
Your skills in making videos are in the high levels...fantastic. Just a tip, in light wind conditions a pair of tell tales on the stays will help you a lot.
Nice one. Sailing off a river mooring is one of the easiest and best ways to start... A. You are usually head to wind so getting the main up is easy, B. You have some flow over the rudder so it will respond even from stationary., C. You usually have a bit of space. 1. Mainup and scandalised (kicker off), sheet slack, 2. Head sail furled but ready to go, 3. Engine on if you feel the need for a get out of jail card, 4. Drop the mooring and push the tiller over, 5. Release the topping lift and sheet in the main, add kicker, 6. Head sail out (probably not fully so you have good visibility if constrained waters), 7. Engine off. Next time you will do it in glorious silence and the sound of the water chuckling off the transom as you gather speed is pure joy.
In a river recommend laying two anchors, one up river, (the biggest), and one down river. On the flood you lie to the down river anchor then on the ebb you lie to the up river anchor. The two anchors in line stop you from swinging all over the place and if you have both anchor lines coming over the bow the boat lies to whichever stream is running at the time.
Ah ha, appreciate that, another day another lesson. Thanks for sharing the tips, we do have a second anchor on board too, although I've never used it yet.
I love your videos the music the footage your stories and adventures, Hank is adorable! I am so motivated to do the same, my husband and I probably would leave everything this weekend and heading west from Port Solent, are you going to stay in the UK? wishing you guys very good winds!
Sent link of last weeks video to my Mrs as I work towards convincing her we should get our own boat.... her reply was "I want a Hank" ! PS. Unless I missed it you should probably pop the old motoring cone up when the engine is on with a sail up.
I enjoy your videos and honesty when things go wrong.Experience comes with time on the water, and we all make mistakes but that's how you learn .Keep the video's coming. What drone do you use.
What model drone are you using as it appears your use of the drone and the quality and distance it can go is fantastic. The drone pilot is doing a great job. Wish I had drone shots of my boat underway like those.
Sailing Cadoha I loved it. My uncle was a crab fisherman and was based out of the river dart. Brought back some good memories. Hope to sail up it when we return to england
Another great video guys! Such a beautiful place where you are :) will share this video with my father who likes sailing. What is the time scale in terms of when you are thinking to set sail towards the Mediterranean? ;) look forward to your upcoming videos as always! Fair winds!
Please do, we hope he enjoyed it too 🙏🏻 I don't know what the timescale is now, thanks mostly to Covid-19, everything kind of been turned upside down, so we're just rolling with the punches. Add Brexit to that and who knows, maybe another year to see how the dust settles is the order of the day, but I couldn't say for certain.

It's a great question. We do have the turf but he refuses to use it. He fully understands as he's so easy to train, he just. refuses. However, when he has to go, like really has. to go, he reluctantly does.
It's a work in progress though still...
Sailing Cadoha thanks man! When are you leaving the UK finally?
Etch in the forefront of your mind or maybe in stone as well? haha. Love this video. I'm hooked and will be watching all the others as well. Thanks!
Ha ha, yes indeed, and glad you enjoyed it. 😁
Where do you learn to sail? Can you document that in a video?
As someone who has never sailed this lifestyle appeals to me greatly!
Glad you think so and appreciate the feedback. We really are very much still beginners to videography but keen amateurs all the same 😁
If this was a ´´best drone’’ channel...you would nail it. If it is a sailing round the world...well 🙄🙏
Well I'm glad we're getting the hang of one bit, but I get where your heads at, now for the rest! 😂⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️
Yet more spectacular footage of the beautiful Dart. We were last there from the east coast three years ago and still have wonderful memories of our visit - keep up the great work guys!!
Beautiful river indeed. If you want to practice sailing, I would suggest that you also try hoist the main sail, since you have so calm condition. ;-)
I learnt to sail on the Dart and Start Bay, you’ve captured it in the most fantastic way. Excellent work, I miss the nuances of that river. Mind the keel crossing Flat Owers, many a sailor been caught on that beauty!
What an awesome place to learn, I couldn't imagine living here and not being drawn to the water. Happy to hear we did the place justice 🙏🏻😁⛵️
Your skills in making videos are in the high levels...fantastic.
Just a tip, in light wind conditions a pair of tell tales on the stays will help you a lot.
I'm happy the videos are just getting a little better each time, just a very keen amateur hoping to do the places we visit justice 🙏🏻
😴
In a river recommend laying two anchors, one up river, (the biggest), and one down river. On the flood you lie to the down river anchor then on the ebb you lie to the up river anchor. The two anchors in line stop you from swinging all over the place and if you have both anchor lines coming over the bow the boat lies to whichever stream is running at the time.
Ah ha, appreciate that, another day another lesson. Thanks for sharing the tips, we do have a second anchor on board too, although I've never used it yet.
Your 1080p looks better than some channels 4K.
You can have 4k on RUclips?? Not sure why that excites me so much, I don't actually have the memory card space for it 😂
waw, could this possibly be an episode where you dont have a major accident/mistake? I am so proud.
Don't jinx us, Mark, ha ha 😂⛵️
New life goals. I decided to work towards getting meself a Hank and a boat.
I love your videos the music the footage your stories and adventures, Hank is adorable! I am so motivated to do the same, my husband and I probably would leave everything this weekend and heading west from Port Solent, are you going to stay in the UK? wishing you guys very good winds!
Thanks guys
You're welcome Peter.
Very nice music... a welcome respite from the pervasive RUclips high-pitched electronica noise!
Glad you like it and there are others in the world who appreciate my somewhat eccentric taste in music 😁
Sent link of last weeks video to my Mrs as I work towards convincing her we should get our own boat.... her reply was "I want a Hank" ! PS. Unless I missed it you should probably pop the old motoring cone up when the engine is on with a sail up.
The "examiner on board" cone you mean?
I hope we didn’t disturb you on the fuel pontoon yesterday afternoon after racing :-)
No not at all. How did the racing go?
Sailing Cadoha - Great weekend with the 29ers. Lots of capsizes.
I enjoy your videos and honesty when things go wrong.Experience comes with time on the water, and we all make mistakes but that's how you learn .Keep the video's coming.
What drone do you use.
Being open and honest about what we're struggling with we hope will give a real reflection on what this alternative lifestyle is like for newbies. 😁
What works best on these channels is when both talk. Have your wife do a segment we want to hear her point of view too.
What model drone are you using as it appears your use of the drone and the quality and distance it can go is fantastic. The drone pilot is doing a great job. Wish I had drone shots of my boat underway like those.
The video ended up wwwwaayyy to early. Wife and I where both what the heck !
Upon reflection, I think it could have been ended better actually, although I hope you both enjoyed the river Dart up until that point 🙏🏻😁
Fair winds!
Please do, we hope he enjoyed it too 🙏🏻
I don't know what the timescale is now, thanks mostly to Covid-19, everything kind of been turned upside down, so we're just rolling with the punches. Add Brexit to that and who knows, maybe another year to see how the dust settles is the order of the day, but I couldn't say for certain.
Hi Hank. I think you should do the "subscribe and bell" speech.
He probably has enough facial expressions to do something there you know 😂
