    Nice ! Really thorough and easy to follow. You can always tell when the carbs have been opened up because the mixture screw caps are removed, I've never seen them replaced... makes future adjustments much easier. I'm glad you got it running right.

    omg you pull the carbs with the boots still attached to the carbs, that's crazy, no wonder it's so hard. leave the boots attached to the cylinders, loosen the upper clamps and use a long screw driver or pry bar to pry up off the rocker cover to pop the carbs out of the boots, right side carb off front cover and left off rear cover, super easy. i can take my shadow from fully assembled to having carbs out on the bench in 15 minutes, a little longer to go back together, routing choke cables, hoses, and air inlet boots on the dual carb shadows can be pain. The hoses you thought are for a vacuum actuator are actually the atmosphere equalizer inlets for the slide chambers, btw, those black nipples that look like a $2 drip system nipple from home depot get brittle after a few years so be gentle with them because honda wants just under $40 a piece for them.........

    • @Geotechbruce
      @Geotechbruce Месяц назад

      Actually after having rebuilt it, it leaks gas from this line just like your bike was doing. In the beginning of your video you mentioned that your bike was leaking gasoline from the vent line. Well my bike would start but die quickly afterwards before I rebuilt the carb. After rebuilding it, it still does the same thing but now it leaks gas from that vent line also if I throttle up while trying to start it. I don’t know what could be the cause of it not wanting to stay running. I used the jets that came with the kit.

    • @RayofallTrades
      @RayofallTrades  Месяц назад

      Makes me suspect the floats may not be set right or may be leaking. I did put my old jets back in because I felt a sluggish acceleration at mid range. Follow that hose and see if it goes to the fuel bowls. They may be overflowing

    Very detailed video. You don't seem like a professional mechanic, but your attention to detail is superb. Most backyard mechanics, including me sometimes, lol rush things, don't pay attention, and aren't careful not to damage fragile parts, which these bikes are packed full of. Its why no one wants to buy a ised bike. Anyway, great video, helped me out tons, as I'm getting ready to do the same. I know this video is a year old now but the mixture screw gets the spring, then the small metal washer, then an o-ring. Your o-ring was probably stuck in the hole. If you end up having mixture problems, it’s probably because the o-ring got pinched or shoved into the needle hole.

    This is the best video so far for doing this, I wish I would have seen it before removing my carb! I seem to be missing 2 hoses...can you tell me where the hose connected to the back of the air filter (around 33 min. In video) is supposed to be connected at the other end? Also, the hose with the 'white dot' I have no idea where that is, or if it was missing from the beginning... Where should that one be connected, to the carb itself or somewhere else? Thank you

    • @RayofallTrades

      The white dot hose went to the carb(s) about 1/2 way up and appears to be an over flow or possibly a atmosphere pressure. The one on the air box I need to look for but I think I found the hose routing diagram looking at Google. If I find it I'll let you know

    Great video man, I just need more help lol I bought a 2007 spirit that hasn’t been able to run for over 6 years. I followed your video and it was able to run for about 15 seconds. It was leaking fuel from the nipple behind the throttle cable, I removed the spark plugs and smelled fuel bad. Then I checked the oil and also smells like fuel really bad. Did I rebuild it wrong? What do you think I should do next?

    • @RayofallTrades
      @RayofallTrades  4 месяца назад

      It sounds like the needle and seat on one of them is not sealing properly or the float is leaking or not adjusted. You can put the carbs on the bench and add a clear hose to the fuel nipple and fill up to see if they seal.
