You are such a wonderful teacher! I’ve been practicing practicing practicing my FMQ… I have a stack of about 30 sandwiches but im so afraid to start two of my quilts that are just waiting for me!!! Oh how I wish I could just spend an afternoon with you!!!! Thank you 😊
You are a great instructor and encourager! Plus the cutest- you make me feel like I can do this! The last quilt I did on my DM, I did standing up with my machine on my cutting table to decrease the pressure on my shoulders- game changer!
What an amazing tutorial. I had watched this video several months ago and then saved it to a folder. Since I had not done free motion quilting for a while I decided to review my folder and clicked on your video. I had forgotten how many designs were packed into this one video. For me, it's a one-stop video. What a treasure trove!! Thank you for all you do.
Just found you & have fallen in love! You are a superb quilting teacher & quilting buddy. Thank you so much for sharing some of your joy with me. Binging & rewatching which is rare. Love from Texas
I just stumbled on you videos and love them💕. I have a wall hanging panel ready to hand quilt but realize my vision isn’t what it used to be and have always wanted to try quilting with my domestic machine. You have inspired me to try. I love you easy going teaching method and all your tips. Thank you for giving me the “kick in the pants” I needed to get going💕
I'm so glad to see you back (yeah!). I really love all of these designs and how easy they can really be done. I think I'd like to do what you did and make samples of my favorites (most of them!) and record the sewing machine settings on the back. It could be a great reference tool! Also, YES to seeing a video on feathers :)
Hi Megan, It’s so nice to see you again. I always pick up a tip from your videos that helps me make a decision on where to take my FMQ. I need to make sample blocks for myself, like you have done for those times I forget the many different designs. It would help during those brain fog days 😂🤣☺️ Take Care and God Bless, 💖 Chris-Raleigh NC
Always enjoy your videos, I’m at the learning stages of everything. I did my first free motion quilting, doing daisies some were good and some were not. I had to push myself to finish. It’s done and daughter loves it so it’s hers. I now have a sampler block quilt to do, so looking for ideas other than straight lines. Thanks for sharing all your videos. 👍❤️😊
Thanks so much Megan for a great tutorial. I have a quilt that I started many many years ago but never finished. I am using it to practice some of your free motion quilting ideas.
Thank you for another great video. I am going to practice more and quit dragging my feet over to the machine. I guess it all depends on if I am really serious about learning and willing to do the work, just like learning how to piece the blocks.
Love your ideas. I would like to see more about feathers quilting. I am new to FMQ and looking for ideas and instructions on different designs. Thank you for your tutorials. I have learned so much already.
I copied an antique snails trail quilt, I have finished the top but I put it aside because I’m not sure how I want to FMQ it. It’s fairly big so I don’t want to start a pattern that’s overwhelming. I usually do meandering and I’ve done curvy lines because I couldn’t see where I was going so I just followed the block which was a variation on a rail design. I’m going to try a feather on a Tilda Quilt that is just vertical stripes which kind of lend a hand to a feather and that’s how she quilted it.
You are giving me confidence to try free motion quilting. I love fabric and hate to pick out stitches. I would love to have the ability to sketch and trace on my iPad. Can you suggest one
Great video! I'd love to see some ruler work. I have them but I'm having technical trouble with them (I think I go too fast). I would love to see what you do with rulers.
I would love to see your ideas with ruler work and feathers. My notebook is filling up with designs. Thanks again Megan. Can you suggest some good free motion you tubers to watch. I’ve discovered Angela Waters.
I’ve practiced with meandering and l’s and e’s but I get so nervous and I don’t feel I get my stitches consistent. Would you demo using quilting templates. I thought maybe that kind of structure might help me. Glad you and your family are getting better.
I love love these 💡 ideas. Being I newbie I have doodle so much and even fmq on squares. But it seems like I’m still scared to do fmq on anything big. Because I worry about too many mess ups on something good (quilts). I like abstract quilt designs and would love to try different designs fmq in each block or not all over designs but repetitive designs to make it a work or planed. Should I draw it all out or just pick the blks and number them or something.??? I get your emails and love your work, can you help me figure this out. I mean technics to move in or around from one bk to another.
That’s an interesting ideal for a tutorial! I have one planned on quilting ideas for sampler style quilts that would be block by block designs. One strategy I use is to pick one or two design elements and use them in every block-so a diamond point to point or pebbles. I can change other things to suit the block but always stick those to elements in somewhere and it helps tie the entire quilt together.
Do you have info on using a template? I have designs that are on a fold so it has to be reversed on the fold but still same side up. I am having difficulty getting the design transffered to the quilt. Any ideas? I am interested in feathers also.
Do you start at the corner of your quilt or the middle of your quilt and do this design all the way to the edges or is this like one square of the quilt at a time with this design?
I use an app called procreate. It’s really easy to use and you can even put a photograph on a layer so you can draw out fmq designs on a photo of a quilt! I think it’s around $10? I use it constantly :)
Yes! We were all sick-my husband and I were sick for almost a month! It was definitely the sickest I’ve ever been and I’m so glad to be almost back to normal.
Okay if you do a quilting pattern on just a block is that a block with the batting in it and the backing and then sew together or how does that work? Like if you just do the top layer or something and then you put them all together to make your top how do you actually stitch all of it to back together without going over top of that b****
A little feedback...When you talked about the Hera Marker, you waved it & wiggled it as you talked. I probably would have done the same thing however it was very distracting from your excellent training.
I guess you would put all these together and then just do different designs in different blocks I see that that could be done too sorry honey but I'm just learning this stuff
Thank you Megan for taking the time to break these designs down.
Love "the rosette" @ 4:16! "Simply amazing!"
But, anyone watching, don't start and/or stop there! My goodness, incredible possibilities:
Clever, clever, clever!
You have got to be the best teacher for explaining the quilting from start onward Thank you for sharing all with us. Inspired to try it myself now
Thank you for the resources and your generosity towards other quilt sites. I’m learning so much from you and now Amazon is getting even more of my $$.

Print shops can add spiral binding to your books! I have had that done to so many of my books at FedEx-Konkos.
Wonderful as always! Glad you are feeling better!
Your videos are great! Thanks for explaining things simply for beginners.

That sounds lovely! I haven’t ever made a snails trail quilt but it’s on my list! Stripes are a great place to try out feathers!
Love your videos and I am definitely interested in exploring feathers 😁

Thank you! I love ruler work, so I’m excited to get everyone started :)
Leah Day and her 365 designs is a really good resource.
And i would love to see your feather. I'm not brave enough to try

Very informative thank you 👍🏻
So helpful thank you
Is there a book specifically for masculine all over and border designs? Those seem to be more challenging for me esp on wildlife panels.
Great video very helpful. THANKS
Thank you!

Do you use an app for your doodling on your tablet? Thanks for your videos and teaching!
Could you use one of the patterns to do it as FMQ as long as it okay with the foot
Do you have info on using a template? I have designs that are on a fold so it has to be reversed on the fold but still same side up. I am having difficulty getting the design transffered to the quilt. Any ideas? I am interested in feathers also.

I have an iPad Pro but what software or app is it that allows you to do free motion doodling? Thank you for sharing your fantastic ideas!🤓
It’s called procreate :) it’s a great app-you can even insert pictures of quilts and then draw over them to test out designs.
What program do you use on your iPad to draw the patterns?
Loved the video. What app were you using on the iPad?
It’s called procreate! It works really well with drawing fmq designs-especially with the pencil.
I would like to learn feathers. I struggle with thread tension. Any help would be appreciated.
Would love to learn feathers
