    Unsafe lane changes are a big factor in truck crashes. The reason is inattentive drivers, poor training, and the large blind areas around these semi-trucks. Most company trucks are fitted with “bus mirrors.” These are convex mirrors mounted at the front of the truck and allow drivers to see down both sides of the vehicle. These mirrors are in addition to those at the doors of the semi-truck. Drivers need to locate and identify freeway interchanges, and other traffic around them. This calm awareness will prepare truck drivers when another driver does something goofy. Also, semi-truck drivers must make defensive lane changes that use the truck’s position in addition to signals to communicate what they’re doing.
    Good luck on your road test.

    I haven’t been driving too long, I’m wondering tho if the right lane is filled with a line of cars & i want to move left into the turning lane is that ok or would I get in trouble for riding in the turn lane too long?

    i call them fender mirrors

    • @smartdrivetest
      @smartdrivetest  12 дней назад

      Yup - that works too. I just know that in my experience, it was a lot easier driving a truck with "fender mirrors" than it was one that wasn't fitted with those convex mirrors at the front. I know the truck doesn't look as "cool" but it's certainly safer for the driver. All the best, Cheers Rick

      Yes, they should've turned left, making the situation worse by pit-maneuvering the minivan 🙄🙄

      It wasn't to blame the truck driver; it was to learn from the mistakes of others so that we can be safer, smarter drivers. All the best, Cheers Rick
