I much prefer your ‘solo’ tours in that as a viewer I feel much more engaged, as if you are talking directly to me. Sometimes on the group tours with all the helmet intercom I almost feel like I’m eavesdropping 🙈😂👍. This is a great tour and what immediately struck me wasn’t the scenery, fantastic as it is, but the mile after mile of open roads; glorious and something we can only dream of!!

Sorry to hear you’re getting wet and soggy, but I just wanted to say thank you. I’m a new subscriber to your channel and I only recently found your content. Specifically the video where you were testing the BMW GS1250 and 1300 in southern Spain.
I found that to be a very inspirational video…. so much so my wife and I jumped on our GS1250 and headed for Spain. I’m now writing this ‘thank you’ from a hotel in Antequera. We’ve just spent a very enjoyable day exploring the fantastic mountain roads around here. So Thank you!!
    The Picos are next 👍

Great job on recording your ride Bruce, you seem to have a real knack for recording real life adventures! You Europeans are more adventurous it seems you're covering more of my back yard than I've cared to explore myself and it's only a tank or two away. I see most of the world from a truck and don't get out for fun anymore, I need to change that before it's too late for me! Thanks for bringing us a long hope to see a few of your stickers on my journey through my backyard so don't forget us working stiffs and cripples! Enjoy and be safe!

Living and riding up here in DownEast Maine is so different than what you find down in Appalachia. Roads here are generally fewer and further between and in much tougher shape. Also, here we're constantly watching for big deer and moose walking into the roads and blind corners.

If your wife loves those types of homes with junk in the yard, then I would think a reservation is a brilliant idea. When I visited the States some years ago, we travelled through the Navajo Reservation up near the Grand Canyon. They have vehicles that look as if they've been literally driven into the ground, and left to rot🤣. The other reservation we drove through, the Apache reservation at San Carlos in southern Arizona, wasn't as bad. But at least the weather isn't as bad as West Virginia, just very hot in the summer/autumn months🤣. Enjoying the video. The mic sounds ok to me. Talking about wildlife. When me and my hubby first visited the States (Wisconsin), we were having a drive around, like yourself, down the narrow roads, and we had to watch out for deer. The first time, a full grown doe walked out of the wood at the side, and about a yard behind her was a fawn. It was awesome to see, and nice to see that traffic had come to a halt to let them cross

Loving the scenery. To be fair to the Insta camera, you had increased the air resistance to double by flipping up the screen. Water is the universal lubricant. If you had screwed it up in the dry, it might have grasped the tangs better.

A great trip despite the rain. I have just got back from a Tour of Texas (including Moto GP at COTA) and Oklahoma, unfortunately in a hire car. We covered 1450 miles in two weeks. Texas is a bit flat, but Oklahoma is interesting. Lovely roads, no cars great scenery.
Things I discovered - The green pump is diesel ( I nearly made that mistake) McDonalds Sausage and Egg biscuit for breakfast (it might be a while before I visit McDonalds again though) I got a bit sick of Tex Mex after a while. The Barbecue was fab though. The US is expensive, but an amazing place

WOW, proper soggy day... my RUKKA is hit and miss on keeping me dry... I think it is because it pools water, which soaks through, am contemplating getting it adjusted so it fits me better which may help, I have had it a while now, but I don't like ditching good kit if I can salvage it.
Incredible trip so far Bruce, I've got the next episode lined up, be watching that now!

I had the good fortune to stay in Rolesville, NC for 6 weeks back in 2016. What a fabulous state NC is. I did many miles on the 'Blue Ridge Highway' and visited the Tweetsie Railtoad in Boone. Bruce, you can dry out the phone port with a dab of Heet (yellow bottle) which is a fuel line deicer available at all gas stations, auto parts stores and big box stores. If you have a Q-tip, that’s great. I have used a paper match that I fuzzed up the end to wet the port. Let it dry and it should clear out any moisture in the port.

    • @teapotone
      @teapotone  5 месяцев назад +1

Cheers Andy, it can’t compete with the 1250/1300 GS, that’s just not a fair comparison, but you could certainly put it up against the 900GSA - which I’ve not ridden yet so can’t comment on that bike.
The Tiger 900 Rally Pro is a great bike, it seems to have useable power all the way through the revs - you think you’ve used the grunt in the low to mid range, but even when you get the revs high, it still wants to go.
I’ve not ridden it off-road but my mate Aled is VERY handy in the dirt (he’s a national Rally Champion so knows what he’s doing) and he swears by it 👍

Proper rolling of the Rs - I like it! That bird was most likely a turkey vulture - they eat road kill. Audio sounded good, I think the video looked better on the GoPro and I am not a fan of my own GoPro. I did the New River Gorge park last May - it was a great ride down one side, over that same small bridge, and back up again. The visitor’s center was well worth the stop also. It was a bright sunny day for me but this weather gives it a whole different feeling.Think I need to go watch my own video again. I’m not far from Mt Airy. The roads in this region are great, but I’d love to ride the UK thanks to you and the likes of The Mad Leprechaun, Fen Tour, Adventure 4 Life etc etc.

Anyway, I’ve noticed for a while that you’re still sticking with GoPro and now taken on insta360. Don’t get me wrong I love the insta360 stuff. I’ve still got 2 oners cameras with 4k boost lenses and 360 lenses but the Achilles heel is the fov when attached to the helmet. Since using the osmo action4 I’ve never looked back. Better fov than GoPro, reliability that GoPro could only dream of and regular firmware updates etc, it’s a nobrainer 👍. They’re Spidi X-Force gloves, no they’re not waterproof and are very thin. I use them as they give good feel for working the cameras, and on the GS the heated grips and hand guards mean I can get away wearing them all year round 👍

It would be good if Gopro made their holders having ribbed sides for better grip.
If you have a good and proven Gopro setup why using the Ace.
Riding in the rain through that remote sections adds something mysterious...
That's a Mountain Dew, not Mountain Jew, lol

The GoPro’s have constantly had issues - freezing, corrupting files, sometimes not switching on, sometimes not switching off.
I just want a camera that works 👍

great videos, how do you manage with the iphone in the rain, even with a quadlock poncho on mine, using the sat-nav becomes useless as the screen just becomes unresposive when raining etc. any tricks ?

I tend not to touch the screen too much when riding. When I stop I usually have to dry the screen with a cloth if it’s really wet

You made a good choice not to go to daytona. over rated. It's not worth it just to say you drove the beach.
Riding in Florida is my least favorite - you will get run over. Any side highways, such as the coastal, are over congested and just no fun.
    Good call!

I'd be wary on any American bridges Bruce, they are all built with private money to a spec that suits the construction company and their hired architect. Maintenance is not done once they've been paid. After an earthquake in the UK, govt. inspectors visit every bridge within a 100 mile radius of the epicentre of the tremour, it takes years. In Umerica there is no such govt. dept. Hence lots of massive bridge failures all over their country. Their roads however, put ours to shame. Capitalism ey, killing people all over the world
