even if its just a mimic; it's not everyday a protagonist is presented as the dark souls boss.
She even has dramatic chanting and boss naming schemes (Frieren the slayer).

I'm not entirely sure Frieren is a protagonist. Yeah, the show is named after her and centered on her, she's overpowered, and is growing up, but protagonist just doesn't fit.

she just has spell that seals the door until the caster is dead, it's only the obvious choice, since demon labyrinth reads their minds and basically gets to see all their skills and spells

What I loved was that, the moment you saw those boots, it was instantly clear who's clone it was and how screwed they were.
Frieren has very distinctive boots. Compliments to her cobbler, whose probably dead.
When the DM is sick of your optimized builds so he throws them back at you.

@@SuspiciousCrow Well she is canonically the elven equivalent of a young teenager. Physically Frieren is between 16-18 years old which puts her about the same age as Fern. Its why every other elf she meets in the series comments on how young she is and how nearly every other character of another species she meets says she acts like a child. Elves develop ridiculously slow in this series. Kraft is over 10,000 years old yet he still is physically is in mid to late twenties. There is a reason why, despite actually ageing like every other species in this series, there are no stories of them even making it to retirement age.

Indeed, Evan call is such a god on making OSTs, like on violet evergarden (probably my favorite ost of all time) and here where I just feel like I'm facing an unbeatable boss/god.

Exactly. Her exams are supposed to force the candidates to cooperate instead of competing with one another. If all the candidates worked together from the start, this exam indeed might have been a piece of cake
@kamilkozowski105 that doesn't check out with her whole "I don't want promising mages to die" spiel though. What her actual intentions through this seem to be "you WILL cooperate or you WILL die so thoroughly it will be like you were never born".
(Sure they have the golem but the Spiegel isn't an examiner, it is a wild monster, and Impostor Frieren at Third Phase Boss power can shatter them like fine China.)
@@PuzzlingGoal Nonetheless no one died during her exam. And golems proved themselves to be pretty good at rescuing those in troubles. So my point still stands. Sense is pacifist who did her best to minimize the risk of death among the candidates
@kamilkozowski105 Yea, and people seem to forget that this was an exam for people who wanted to be first clas mages who essentially should be some of the strongest mages of the time. They can't exactly be going easy on the exams just because they want to be nice or they'll end up dying to the quests that 1st class mages would take.

Step 1: enter the boss room
Step 2: see the boss is Frieren
Step 3: break my bottle
Step 4: get one shot anyway while trying to to escape
The scariest thing is….she let them approach.
She could’ve easily thrown a black hole at them, dragon blast of fire, or even a golem - yet she lets them approach and doesn’t outright attack, despite the advantage of height.
Which adds to the exact copying of the clone…it’s how the Frieren would have fought…using the basic attack and only using more complex spells for when it’s warranted.
Yep, Frieren tries to conceal her full power/arsenal for as long as she can, until it’s TRULY warranted.

The fact that Denken, one of the biggest Chad's of that Arc said himself that he would have already fled if it weren't absolutely necessary to beat her in order to pass the test, shows just how intimidating Frieren is as an enemy.
It's a 4V1 against a statue that doesn't have her mind but just her abilities, yet they're still questioning if they even have a chance.
If I remember correctly, the statues make a copy of the reasoning of whoever they are copying but yes, it is more of a kind of behavioral protocol than proper progressive reasoning
@@Inu3KL They can't adapt to situational events, they basically have a set pattern. That's why the examiner's statue didn't run from Ubel even though the examiner herself knew that Ubel could split her in half. If it were actually copying their thought processes, Frieren's statue would have went after Fern first seeing as she's the weaker of the 2.

Smartest move to make. When her Mana reserves are yes, and she knows spells that most people have forgotten and practiced them all to extreme levels. Running is the smart move.
I love the meme that’s floating around that has a Dark Souls boss bar show up for this scene with the boss name as Frieren the Slayer.
Honestly the most impressive feature of fighting Frieren is her composure. She doesn't need to be energetic nor show any emotion, she is totally "in the zone"
Yeah, she’s not a Natsu, Naruto and Asta type of character, she’s more like those 3 characters rivals in their respective show.

We knew Freiren was powerful, but seeing these 4 powerful mages questioning their chances to take her clone 4v1 REALLY shows how powerful she is in the context of this world

God the writing in this anime is sooo goood! The magic is grounded, flawed, but also creates some really tense drama.

I liked how everyone instantly respected Frieren for her abilities as soon as they figured out she wasn't ever really serious. Everyone is chill around her as though they are on her level and when they figure it out that whole prospective changes.
This scene was never meant to go this hard, and yet, here we are
