    Love how detailed and real this was. I'm also looking to fit this on my road. That info about the battery mount and cables under the bottom bracket was super useful because mine has exposed cables under the bike.

    Thank you for this real life video, I personally like the fact that you show the mistakes you’ve made and your findings regarding the problems you have faced, I only own one bike and this will be my first motor installation, so watching this has made me aware of what to avoid and what to do without an installation guide also. Ps I have watched a few TSDZ2 installation videos and yours is the best.

    At last someone who really does things! and not someone who gets things done by someone with all the proper tools and then reassembles it after oiling greasing etc to make it easy for them to photograph for their youtube video. Getting the crank apart on a bike that is 10 or 15 years old, and has been in the shed for a couple of years decomposing, is a challenge that is not easy to overcome, and is really annoying when someone says undo the crank and without any effort they undo it, drives me crazy, at that point I start to doubt that they actually know what they are doing. So well done for showing that it is a real challenge sometimes. Now to watch the rest of the video lol.

      Btw, in you try this on a road bicycle, I had a very difficult time getting a double chainring set up to work. I was trying for a compact crank 34/50 so i can use it as a regular road bicycle also...so hard to find the right parts to do this and nothing seemed to work. Plus due to the decrease in chain tension and smaller chainring, the chain kept jumping off due to the bad chain angle on the 34T...back to the drawing board! ...i really thought I had it figured out, except for that. sigh.

    Thanks for the video, my bike is currently half built. Great to see someone else work through the same problems I am having. My main problem was my motor was a very tight fit, so I took it back off to find a lot of welding splatter inside my bottom bracket. So I cleaned it out and the motor now goes in easily, but it also now wobbles around in the bottom bracket. ( I only took the lumps of welding splatter out I did NOT make it any bigger ) Ok when the nuts are all done up that will stop it, but how long for? I have heard a number of people say that their motor comes loose when riding so much so they will always take tools with them to fix it when they are out. So with that in mind I have now fitted a thin sheet of aluminium around the motor so its a better fit in the bottom bracket. ( I cut up a fizzy drinks can for the sheet metal. it was easy to get and it's very thin)

      @@irinaandpaul873 Once I cleaned out the bottom bracket I found that when I installed the motor it was loose. So I then put the sheet aluminium sheet in the bottom bracket to fill the space. I then adjusted the length of the sheet ( number of layers ) until the motor would only just slide in and out. This was not easy as every time I put the motor in it pushed the sheet aluminium sheet back out the other side of the bottom bracket. I then found if I put only 50% of the sheet in the frame, I could then use it as a guide as I pushed the motor in. Sorry a bit hard to explain, hope you understand.

    I have said the exact same sentence at 8:50 when I discovered where the mounting holes where located.
    So same solution as you did with an additionnal rilsan collar in the bottom hole of the battery support... but I'm not very keen about the overall solidness and battery position.

    • @ShermanSitter
      @ShermanSitter  3 года назад +1

      Yes, this motor is not as strong, but I do like it because of how similar it feels to just riding a bicycle. I think if I went for something more powerful, I'd go for the Bafang. What motor is your favorite?

    • @iamrocketray
      @iamrocketray 3 года назад

      If we want to stay within the legal requirements and not have to worry about every police car you see, in the UK it has to be a 250 watt motor, yes we know its not powerful enough but we have to work with what we have. I have both the Tongsheng and the Bafang, and I find the Tongsheng hard work, especially after a long days ride and my home is at the top of a bloody great hill, If I was fit and young and my pelvis wasn't held together with titanium plates, I would love it, but in that case I wouldn't need a motor at all would I? With the Bafang I can adjust EXACTLY how much assistance the motor gives and how much my input is E.G. on number 1 its very little motor and a lot of me. But on number 5 its a lot of motor and very little of me, so on that last hill I bump it up to 5 and imagine i'm Steve Austin(the Bionic man not the wrestler) and power up that hill, I can't do that with the Tongsheng. The Bafang is also a far more developed system, with the right lead you can adjust every little detail and tune it(hack it) exactly to your preferences, You don't have anywhere as many options with the Tongsheng. P.S. I don't fit the throttle because if I wanted an electric motor bike I would buy one.

    My bike has the same motor and also has no suspension. I feel for me not having suspension was a mistake, the bike is now very heavy and there are too many pot holes in the roads.

    • @ShermanSitter
      @ShermanSitter  2 года назад +1

      I definitely agree with the weight factor. Since I put it on a chromoly road bicycle I don't feel I need the suspension though. Perhaps I'll change my mind as I ride it more. honestly, I still choose my non ebikes over this one in most cases, but it is a fun diversion sometimes. :)

      @@viktorspett8819 Yes, it is a challenge for sure. One note, the adapter depends on the bicycle frame and not as much on the motor. You can look and see what kind of situation there is that is holding on your derailleur. Is it a braze on, clamp on, etc? Either way, there are not many great options, but that is more the determining factor than the motor.

      @@viktorspett8819 Possibly, but the motor puts it so far out, I basically got the furthest extender I could find and it still was barely long enough and didn't quite work. I have seen videos of successful conversions with a double chainring, but alas, I failed. Let me know if you figure it out! There probably was a way, but honestly, I only use the eBike for when I am injured or sick or something and I have not noticed much inconvenience with the single chainring. For me, it was more for the adventure to try to get the double.
