    Won an e-bike with this motor installed on Ebay. It's in the mail. Can't wait to receive it. It only needs a battery. I am thinking of a 48v water bottle shape battery to keep it in a nice form factor. I hope it's a 500w instead of the 250W motor. The seller didn't have much knowledge about the bike. Thanks for sharing how to set up the computer. It's helpful.

      @@jimharvey2k Hi. So the motor and the controller are safe with the higher voltage when you step up to 48 v?

    • @jimharvey2k
      @jimharvey2k  3 года назад

      @@keithhoughton4308 only read about people doing it. Haven't actually done it myself so no idea about the actual safety. Every method has its risks.

      @@keithhoughton4308 It's my understanding that all the models are the same hardware, except that the 36 and 48v motors are wound with different KVs to make them spin at the same speeds, so the controllers should be the same. You can convert them between the wattages with custom firmware

      @@jimharvey2k Awesome!
      The existence of an open source firmware for this motor is the main reason that decided me to get it 🙂
      I hope to do development on a mobile app to pair with it.

    Good job on the install. Can you give more feed back on using a 250w motor on a road/commuter bike? What is your regular round trip? how is it on long climbs?

    • @jimharvey2k
      @jimharvey2k  5 лет назад +3

      I do about 5-10 miles each way. Is perfect. On the flat I keep it largely in my top 2-3 gears. In retrospect I would have bought bigger than 44t on the front because I don't do many long climbs. I've done some 20 mile each way and with a small 9ah battery it was dead using sport after 40 miles.

    • @jimharvey2k
      @jimharvey2k  5 лет назад +1

      I probably average >20mph on my rides including stops without going all out and using it in sport. Easily do 25 on the flat. I'm 85kg and not an amazing cyclist. Contrary to what you might think I'm more likely to use it on "turbo" in and around town for the stops and starts as opposed to on the open roads where I'll have it in eco or tour

    Good video🙂👍🏻Is a temperature sensor required for tongsheng tsdz2 48v 500w kit? Will it be a problem if it is used without a temperature sensor? (overheating etc.)

      No idea. I've got 250w 36v. Don't need a sensor but it's not that hot where I live

    Were you able to put the throttle on the Drop handlebars?

    • @jimharvey2k
      @jimharvey2k  3 года назад

      I don't use a throttle. I think you'd struggle because the throttle requires also the brakes if I understand that model correctly

    I want to fit a 48v 750w TSDZ2 to a Trek 7200fx.
    I assume all the kits are identical size and will fit all road bikes. Any thoughts anyone?

    Good post James - how's the bike now?
    Is there room for a double front chainset or are you restricted to just one?

    • @jimharvey2k
      @jimharvey2k  4 года назад +5

      Still going strong. I haven't put a double on but have seen posts of options who have and it certainly looks doable on my frame though I would never need it with a wide range at the back. I've done about 2k miles. No serious issues, blue gear fine. I might make a follow-up video if you think people might be interested
