hey dude how to find the black dragon roost and nether dragon roost
When looking at these models, you can really appreciate the effort going into WarCraft 3 Reforged. The original game had a lot of models, but of course the developers reused a bunch of assets by just recolouring some models to be time efficient. The art team for Reforged is going out of their way to make as many unique models as possible. The dragons for each aspect have unique visual traits to them that make them look fairly distinct from the other colourations, including the dragon characters with names which have their own flavour to them.
That I think needs some acknowledgement and appreciation! :)
Absolutely true man, i enjoy that, like the random paladin names we get in skirmish, these are some pretty nice touches in the game visuals that i enjoy a lot.
Plus it's pretty clear they're nailing the models down first and *Then* they'll work on the various animation goofs and such.
That said, I wish they kept the giant frills red dragons had, and the silhouette appearance of nether dragons
@@marsupialmole3926 It's been almost 20 years, the art design of Warcraft has moved well past that. hell reforged is showing dragons in a new style, more in-line with Wrathion's new model. Of all the mobs WoW has yet to update, the dragons have basically been untouched. I'm hoping this is leading into new models for the dragons.
@@marsupialmole3926 I miss the giant frills a little bit too just for how easily they got stuck in your mind, but I just can't see how they could change the Nether Dragons back to their original depicition. WoW pretty much redefined a lot of the look of WarCraft for a lot of people. It's pretty much a given that more people remember TBC's Nether Drakes design than how the originals looked. Especially since they were many players' first flying mounts.
Pretty sweet that even each species of dragon have a different model now instead of the same one with a different paint job
I know, right? Nice to see someone who doesn't look at these new models with a magnifier looking specifically for flaws, in order to praise the "magnificent" old ones! This game is going to be awesome!!
@@talesle_roi7991 Old models were reskin and recolour but man it still cool on it own. Can't wait for the wc3r with different models on different species.

@@stopperzapper really? I have over 8+ years of experience in WE and no thats not how any of this works. You shouldnt have to modify ANYTHING from the original model to make it work right, thats Blizzards job. And no, the old model is shooting it from the throat/neck, and with the small "breath" effect it looks like its from the mouth... Quit playing smart.
Pretty BAD they got smaller wings... I mean, just look dragons in WoW. Those wings are more "reasonables" than this to carry a hole dragon by it self.... Just look this lame, the body is bigger...
The whelps look adorable now. I want one as a pet. One thing i really appreciate is that all the different dragons has these small details that make them stand out from eachother. The old ones were just palette swaps and looked more or less the same. It's nice to see some attention to detail even if they're just neutral creeps.

Same about revenants btw. They have made amazing models but i still hope they will add that glow effect beneath them and in their helmets as well. It makes a big difference.
yeah a lot of the models don't have a particle effect, but i doubt they'll make these drakes have the glow as the ones in wow don't have much of one. I really liked the nether drakes in wc3 though in general.

You seem to be right. This very model of drake we have now in Reforged doesn't have any background for glow. The only hope they'll change it in general which i doubt. Only if the community insists.
You know, Warcraft III's graphics aged really well. I took them super for granted at how much they could be improved. These are gorgeous!
I definitely LOVE the new Nether Dragon's sharky look. It's one of the best things I've seen so far from the reforge. I cannot wait, it's almost out

I'm really impressed by the reforged models, and props to Arcane for making these videos, I've been watching all of them these past few days.
Really love that each aspects had different details from one another but I'm not a fan of how every one of them have a red wing. :/
The wing colour is what player they belong to, neutral dragons won’t have that colour on their wings
@@slicemup9 Oh I see, so we see this red because the world editor puts the units to default player color which is red, thanks for clearing that up :)
Great comparison video! It's so sad that people need to seek and highlight solely the negative aspects in these new models, when it's so clear that the art team did an awesome job at giving them a modern rendition! These are epic, serious dragons now, with those awesome, more subtle color schemes, as opposed to classic WC and WOW's childish renderings. An incomparable upgrade for the original game ones, also incomparably superior to those in WOW. Do people know for how long WOW players have been asking for new dragon models, since those in WOW can't simply be taken serious right know, if compared with that game's recent models? And Reforged got them first! Instead of being grateful, people seem to seek a flaw and to even praise the old models, claiming they're superior at some given aspect... For God's sake!
Edit: the point in the unit from which an attack effect comes can be changed even by us "mortals" in the world editor, you really think that Blizzard made models with this quality so that their final version would release fire from their paws? Give people a break!
If all the budget went to this game, then take my money.

I really with they kept the translucent vibe on the neather drake or any of the other units with that kind of astetic. In honesty the flying dragons are the only thing ive been disappointed by so far they don’t feel the same at all.

Your videos are great! However if I could give feedback, Death animation would be great addition to the model videos.
Good idea :) Now I am almost finished with these Side by Sides videos but once the game is out and models are fully finished, all this videos will have to be done again and I would like to add to the death animation to them.
Nether dragon omg so cool! .. Apparently in the past Blizzard yet did not think up this idea. But now after WoW, nether dragon's have own appearance. I'm very emotion now. Cool detail.

I low key hate how much of a emphasis they put on the team colors, i think it should be a bit more minimal, but maybe it's just i dislike red on alot of those dragons :P

I would have thought they'd have designed them to be more in line with wows dragon flights.
Considering Wrathion's new model, and how the Aspects and even certain dragons like Sinegos started ranging away from the base design, I think that Warcraft has decided to bring the dragons forward and evolve them to a new look.
What about the green dragons? They're in the CASC. :)
I never noticed until now that the dragons all had front feed. I only noticed wings and the back legs

Makes sense, since at this time the Orcs captured the Red Dragonflight and forced them to serve them.

This is how the drakes should look like in wow, a bit younger version of the full grown adult. The drakes in wow don't look anything like the adult version.
@David the corn cops are fine, really. What i think iot messes it up is the serpentine head with thick scales.
They are basically rattlesnakes with wings and limbs. Feel weird as hell.

Fire dragons shoot fire either out of their legs, seems some other dragons suffer same. Other than that they look crisp

he has just replaced old models with new ones, attachments and projectile are unchanged for now.

Nice models (except for the Nether Dragons) but why are the colors so faded? The black dragons are grey and the bronze are bone colored.

It was a campaign model for night elf mission that was dropped. Since the Blizzard took their time to actually recreate him, maybe they will add him to the campaign so it won't be just cut/past with prettier graphics.

Finally, its been almost a full year since the announcement of Warcraft Reforged and only now do we get some new information. Blizzcon has a lot of slack to pick up from last year so I hope they prepared the big guns after such a long wait.

Its a beta
I believe a lot of the SFX effects (their attack particles and what not) are still being worked on, they're mainly focusing on redesigning as there is so much to redesign in the game's data, it's a very simple fix though.
