5 MINUTE ABS | Train Like a Ballerina

    Abs, 6-pack, belly cannon, developed set of abdominal muscles or (the correct name) your rectus abdominis, whatever you'd like to call them, this workout is guaranteed to get them burning.
    Please note this workout has been designed for the aesthetics of a 6-pack not necessarily what I believe to recommend to attain a strong core. While it's important to build a strong core, it's unwise to aim all your efforts at developing rippling abs. Overtraining abdominal muscles while straining muscles of the back and hip can set you up for injuries and cut athletic prowess. If washboard abs are your holy grail, it's essential to trim body fat through diet and aerobic exercise and build strong abdominal muscles through frequent core exercise sessions which include workouts that train your entire core.
    ▸ Level: Intermediate
    ▸ Equipment: None
    ▸ Too hard? On exercises where your neck is raised, place it on the ground + increase rest time in-between exercises.
    ▸ Too easy? Try 1-2 full rounds of the workout + limit rest.
    TRAINING TIPS:
    1. Exercises where the head is raised: Think of lifting your upper body off the floor, including your shoulder blades whilst relaxing your neck (I know it isn't easy). Focus on limiting the strain on your neck muscles.
    2. If you go for the 'easier' version and lower you neck, keep the legs at 90 degrees or below and think of pushing your spine into your mat throughout to engage your core ( I actually find this version works my core more and is more challenging, but everyone is different).
    3. BREATHE. No one got a 6-pack from holding their breath.
