Would you update this with a current version of CHIRP? The 'legacy' version used in this video stopped being developed back in December of 2022. CHIRP-next was announced to the public on January 1 and is the version that gets all of the new development (including support for additional radio models).

Hi Stu, thanks for your comment. If I understand your question it sounds like you are looking to have one set of channels in memory for, “Bank A”, and another set for, “Bank B”. Please correct me if I’m wrong. The Radio will allow you to enter over 100 channels. Those channels are available to both Banks / Displays equally. You can have both Displays set to the same channel or to different channels. I often have one set to my local repeater while the other is set to scan. Some operators will have one Bank set to display the channel name and the other set to the channel frequency. This way you can have both pieces of information available to you. For example say that you have Bank / Display A set to show Channel names. If you receive a signal on channel 004 and the display says that it is repeater, “WD4LPN”, then you can change Display B to channel 004 and see the frequency. Let me know if this helps or if I have misunderstood your question. Thanks again - Billo
A license is only needed to PTT in a GMRS frequency(ies). And that license is only 35$ and requires no Armature radio operators tests. It's easy to get. This is an FRS/GMRS radio (and some more if you work on it). It's not equivalent to the Yeasu or Kenwood HAM radios HH true HAM radio as implied. It simply isn't. But it can easily be made to be like those with the three button hack mentioned in this video. There is another step not mentioned here. But you certainly can transmit on FRS, or GMRS with the 35$ GMRS license and get some good 2-way communications use from it. Gotta be lawful. Know the frequencies and power of your radio! I ramble.... Sorry... So... you can easily hack it to make it transmit all the way to 200 / 227. Do your research. Won't tell you here. But still, this is an awesome transceiver for the price. As a receiver it's 110%. I own at least a dozen of them in different flavors. All of them are worth their purchase price and far beyond. But be careful of the hype these videos push. This is the closest to a sane and truthful video tutorial I've ever seen. And you probably want the 771G. Not the 771 antenna as a side note. The rest of this post is f'ing awesome! @@thebillo313 I just got my Tidradio H3 a couple weeks ago (Also a couple Radtel's, Retevis, and others, just exploring). You are right, the Tidradio is very cool! Tiny but not lacking in features and solid. I bought three Antenna Power & SWR Meters to help me as well (good ones like the TinySA Ultra, etc...). Been messing with it so much I almost forgot I had a half dozen UV-5R variants. Got my local public repeaters programmed and been listening to some really great things with it too. Another couple months before I try for my Technician license. Probably can get it now but I want to ace that test. :) It's people and posters like you that keep driving me. Thank you so much.
