Yeh his normals are DEFINITELY the worst in the game. Arc system really needs to buff him. His level three is ok but he needs more options after the hard knockdown. His lariat also doesn’t start up fast enough. They need to make it a frame one invincible and hit full screen behind the opponent. Maybe then he’ll be usable. But you know that’s just my opinion

As someone of Namekian rank who has mained Trunks as point, with Piccolo and Teen Gohan on his team ever since I got this game in June, I gotta say: I have never realized how useful Trunks' flip can really be. I really love teen gohan and trunks. They are my favorite characters in the anime but I feel like in the game, they take a bit more skill than most other characters, which is discouraging. But seeing that sparking block string with trunks just makes me want to work hard to achieve it. Great video Doto, keep it up!
I think trunks is great, ive had him mid on my main squad sense the beginning and yeah his level 3 grab sucks to land but it hits like a truck when you do get it. I say hes good for alot of situations.

As a learning trunks main this is good to know, also I want to believe that trunks is high and so close to top tier but it's probably my bias towards him.

I personally think Trunks has one of, if not the best neutrals in the entire game. it's not an easy people but he has amazing neutral tools. A pro you forgot to mention is that Trunks has the highest damaging level 3 in the game, outside of Golden Frieza's level 3, situational captain ginyu body change shenanigans, Android 16, level 5s, and Tien spending a ton of bars. Also great video as usual.
Trunks is my point. With black and ssj goku. The beam assist carry the opponent to the corner so that your corner pressure is insane plus since he has the flip in the corner you get more damage then others there. I think that trunks black and ssj goku should have been mentioned as a team. Plus with those assist your neutral is amazing

If you got here, have some tech. You can cancel Masenko into lvl one. You can cancel light auto on the last hit to immediately shining slash for overheads. Paired with BVegeta and coming down from a sliding, pressing the assist then lvl 1 will juggle for another lvl 1. (Note that this cannot be reset, hitstun will be too low) With heavy flip you can activate it again after an opponent blocks a mid air heavy. That leaves you to flip over for a surprise mixup.
Should you play Fat Buu? I feel that he's an underrated Point character, but I also understand why nobody wants to play as him when there are much better options at point.

I hope you don't mind me posting some constructive criticism, I enjoyed the jest of the video and most of it's contents! Nice editing and good sound, but thought some information was lacking. Although I agree with your placement of Trunks as above average I feel you didn't touch on a majority of his main tools/how to apply them You make a joke about being able to Superdash through his 5S "beam", but don't mention it beats every non-special projectile other than Broly's 5S, nor the fact that you can cancel the 5S into 2H if it does come into contact with a Superdash. You didn't mention a think about CTF's application if neutral and how it beats ki blasts frame 1, nor it's applications in blockstring mind games. No mention of his 2L having a great Gohan/Goku Blacke-sque hitbox with only a 6frame start up, despite it being a mid. And lastly you don't talk about/show any of his strong mixups with any assist that allows for it. While I can understand it's probably not in your best interest to go through every nook and cranny of a character, it's also not in your best interest to unintentionally misinform/give a lack of information through your content, so hopefully people read this and gain some more information about the character. Other than that nice video and hope to see you do more :)
Benched Beerus in favor of Trunks. I regret that this was an excellent decision and I love him. That makes my team 21/Trunks/Yamcha, and I've been getting work done hard. There's a pretty great amount of synergy between 21/Trunks and Trunks/Yamcha. I footsie people with 21, and then mix the hell out of them with the latter two. Trunks takes what I loved about my team in Skullgirls(Robo-Fortune, Squigly, Beowulf) and compiles it onto one character. Great mobility, a fun gimmick, and relentless offense, respectively. Even dropping Beerus for him, they both have a tricky setup gimmick and a sliding 2m, making the transition pretty smooth, honestly.
I think Trunks is super mediocre. But he's on my team because I've been optimizing a team around ginyu. My team is Ginyu / Trunks / Gotenks. With this team, I can double super with Ginyu lvl 1 > Gotenks lvl 1 > Trunks lvl 1 > Trunks lvl 1 anywhere on the screen. And also I can do Trunks > Gotenks > Ginyu > Ginyu. So either character I can double super with for extra damage. Trunks's assist allows for superdash > skd conversions which is important for ginyu. It's also a fast defensive assist in the neutral which ginyu needs to make ginyu force calls. Gotenks' assist allows for ginyu to body swap anywhere on the screen and lots of combos and blockstrings that involve the ginyu force. So Trunks might be mediocre by himself but on my team, there's great synergy and special tech.
