This isn't really 'tech' as much as it is an explanation of the core game mechanics. They won't nerf this, don't you worry. Tech is generally some little obscure thing that someone discovered and works in a specific circumstance (unblockables, for example). Also, I don't know much about how it is in other gaming communities, but sharing tech is what the FGC do. So yeah, not rare at all. :)
D The Chemist Sorry to burst your bubble but 90% of the cool tech in this game, minus the dragon balls, is straight up lifted from Marvel vs Capcom games.
on reddit i read about this two players that were fighting online and one of them their controller died and it seems the other person mustve noticed so the guy actually waited until he can get back in the game. lol
You know how people make videos like this all the time but it’s always stuff that you pretty much knew already? Yeah, this was definitely not that. This video was super helpful and informative. Awesome stuff man!
Also this game has some mechanics ath MvC2 had...if you hold down one of your assist button during the loading screen displaying your team, you can pick that assist char to start first. Keep in mind you have to hold it down moments after seeing the screen appear as it takes long to register. You'll know it worked when you hear a sound effect. I will say its hard to use it online because of lag but it does work.
@@jmcrofts there is a type of move that I dunno how to perform can you plz tell me? It’s the green arrow move for example , _Tides of time_ by hit I just don’t know how to do it!!! I’m on PS4 btw just in case
A tutorial that even the video about tips the tutorial didn't teach you forgot: Reflecting anything also charges your meter really quickly. If someone you're fighting is just spamming beams, try reflecting instead of only blocking and you'll get some meter for your risk.
One small thing to add about sparkling blast. The less characters you are down to, the longer it last. It starts out at lvl 1 and goes up a level for each character you lose up to lvl 3
Also before you start a fight while it loads you hold the button that use assist (L1 or L2 by default you will here a chime noise) you can start the fight with the second or third character you picked to trick your opponent on who they think is going to fight first
but if they 2h you expecting to super dash at the start the only difference is your second character got 2h'd which makes switching in is pretty pointless.
Yeah , making videos is like making movies. George Lucas said films arent finished, they are abandoned. Theres always going to be something you wish you couldhave changed.
In Sparking, you can air dash after your air normals, and overheads. This is amazing for characters like Yamcha and Vegeta, because their dive kicks become pressure tools.
You can also use spark as a combo extender. When doing an air combo, use spark. It will force the opponent down to the ground with enough time to follow up.
Dude, I'm a fighting game regular, and I had no absolutely no idea about IAD trick for this game. That's freaking game changing. Very much appreciated!
I appreciate that you don't use cuss words in your videos (or at least the few I've watched). I'm looking for a RUclipsr that I can allow my kids to watch because they love this game! Good work man.
Euchre FGC The cussing they do have is kind of "light" cussing, just damn and hell. If Frieza was calling people a bitch and cell starting saying how he didn't fuck around, I think I'd be on the same page lol
Oh yeah you're right, completely forgot about Vegeta. Yeah there might be a decent amount of swearing, but depending on their age and maturity they should be able to get that this is fictional and the characters are adults.
Just a tip to people who may not know, sparking isnt mapped to any button, I recommend mapping it to right stick. It's a free button and it feels much more natural and smooth to just click down RS and activate sparking
Holy crap, you weren’t kidding, this video was great - I completely forgot that sparking was even a function in the game. Subscribed, would love to see more content covering DBFZ.
Nice video! Knowing you can tag in with supers without having your current character do a super is really helpful. It's especially useful for tagging adult Gohan in with unleashed potential from the get-go.
I have a bad habit of holding the vanish buttons down during the whole animation and I would always get confused at why it would not do an attack. But this video really helped!
Great video. One detail you are missing on sparking in video is that it lets you dash forward after air ki blasts. As well as also jump from ground ki blasts, but that falls under normals. Because of this feature some characters like SsJ goku, goku black, etc can have some ki blast loop combos. As well as more pressure
Really REALLY usefull didnt know about hidden features of sparking and also holy moly vanish in sparking is now soooooo much more usefull because after using a vanish u can do sooo much more than just a kick. Also tagging into a ult was really usefull too cuz it can catch people off guard when they do not expect it. So in conclusion knowing these simple stuff gives u so much bigger advantage.
Ah... And the depth starts being revealed layer by layer... This makes me happy. I've been having lots of conversations about the ease of accessibility this game has and it's left a bad taste in some people's mouths... But this is going to change that a bit. At the least it's going to show that whatever taste they have has a hint of an afterglow they did not expect. Some flavors grow on you. Some aromas need time to build in your glass to get it right.
Krystal Myth. Very well said. I tell people about the auto-combos and they're notably disappointed, but then proceed to get destroyed and claim to 'not know how to play the game' when the beta was out. The best combos are found and recorded. I'm just using Ultimate Gohan to build my own.
at 6:58, It's important to note that this game has crossup protection w/assists. The character itself can cross up with a button/normal but the assist can't crossup. The hit from the assist needs to come after the normal has hit from the point character.
I don't think you mentioned that Sparking is more powerful the lower amount of fighters you have. When you only have 1 fighter left (sparking is at level 3) it heals blue health crazy fast and gives you even more damage. I think the Sparking icon even changes with to represent this when you have less fighters.
maikai196 a lot of ppl who play fighting games already know this is very similar to the x- factor in the Marvel vs Capcom series, so it’s not anything new. Not to be rude or anything.
Street Fighter guy here! After my cousin beat me 26 times in a row in SF Alpha 2, I took it personal and I got really into fighting games for a while 😄 I just discovered this game. Thanks to your tutorial, I'll be trying it out. Thanks meng!
Even the hold assist button to pick your assist to go first is in there too.. I love the potential for combos this game is presenting. Lol hopefully no1 discovers a infinite tho.
5+ years, some of the community have move on, others have stayed and finally, finally I'm able to play competitive online and beat hard mode without losing a single match. I'm not the best for sure, but I'm good enough now. Thanks man
I didn't catch it if you said this but the duration of your sparking depends on how many fighters you have left if you're down to your last one it lasts an extremely long time and if you pop it early then it's just a very quick moment of the buff
Holy crap! I remember first seeing this video when it had 1k views. NOW IS HAS 1 MILLION?! I'm glad your channel got exposure thanks to this video! Keep on going, man. Still one of my favorite youtubers to date.
Excellent video with very important information! I do want to offer one small correction though. In the sparking blast section you mentioned calling an assist in order to do a crossup. Unfortunately, this game has cross-up protection from assists. If you call an assist and cross up your opponent, your opponent can hold back OR forward, and they will successfully block the mixup. The one single exception is Piccolo's homing assist. Once Piccolo has exited from doing his assist, you can use the homing orb to cross up your opponent. If he is still present, the cross-up protection will work as normal. Keep the vids coming man. I'm going to be linking these to my friends.
Thanks a bunch for all the tips! The game's tutorial is rather disappointing compared to GGXRD's, so it's nice to see people like you pick up the slack and help us noobs out.
I'm thinking of getting into the fighting game genre (I only ever bought the Super Smash Bros. and MK games, and DBFighterZ), is Guilty Gear Card a good fighting game?
You explained this better than the people in this DBF group on FB... They just down talk you if you asks for tips or act like gods but you... You did this the right way lol subscribed
One of the best applications of reflect is when you are in the corner, if your opponent is going for an overhead, react and Reflect to get out of the pressure. Just make sure not to do it in the middle of one of the enemy's assists
Something I figured out yesterday. Holding forward and pressing R2 (super dash / chase) registers as a forward/forward airdash. :) If you're having trouble with the input of an instant airdash. This is another means of doing so. This does not work for back dashing /back airdashing. When holding back and pressing R2, it registers as a super dash.
1. Reflect - Can reflect any or all moves, specials, and combos. 2. Tagging LV 3 Super - Able to perform 2 Supers. 3. Short Fwd/Bwd Air Dash - Up, Fwd, Rapidly 4. 5. 6.
I don't understand why the tutorial is so basic. Blazblue and Guilty Gear teach Uzemi and Oki, cancels and tech. DDFZ barely teaches you how to tag. I hope they work on that.
Comeback Kid the game tells you how to tag wtf? The only thing it does not go as deep as it needed to go because it's trying so hard to keep the basics in the face for new people which is kinda disappointing
when he said "barely teaches you how to tag" he probably was referring to the fact that they dont teach you about the level 3 super tag, or the tag super without using it on the first character.. but honestly the tutorial is definitely lacking
Just picked up the game and have been practicing and just nonstop learning. Hands down the hardest fighting game I have played. Thought it would be similar to Guilty Gear, man was I wrong. This game is something else and an absolute blast. Thank you very much for the help, because I honestly have no real clue what to do.
Specially because Frieza doesn't have many combos that deal insane damage, most of his just stay somewhere between 3,000 and 4,000 (I think it's his penalty for having so many great tools to keep the opponent in different areas of the stage). With Sparking and Golden Frieza you do end up dealing a lot of damage.
Euchre FGC it most definitely isnt a defensive game, hence the lack of options. That is the very definition of what Dragon ball is. The best defense is an overwhelming offense
what i dont undersant, is , why i have to seek this basic knowlegde outside of the game, why don't the game just teach this in some sorte of advanced training mode?
I think because maybe the people who just wants to do supercombos and things like that (it's totally acceptable that you don't want to spend your time learning combos) probably find this information excessive. They're not going to use it anyways.
@Marky D So they don't know you can hold reflect to do a new animation, and also do stuff with it? Seems like too much work was put in that for it to be a thing they didn't know. Maybe they just forgot to put in the tutorial
For one, they won't be used by most people who play online or hard modes. Such people stick to minimal basic combos and exploit them over and over to get a feel of them and gain victory over their opponent. Very few people actually use all of the combos in this game. Tbfh, most people just spam Kamehameha and other supers or beams.
Sparking also causes your assist bar to refill faster than normal whilst in effect, good video BTW. I'm quiet new to this game but really enjoying the way it plays and learning something new is always fun.
I usually do the Instant Air Dash technique with the Dragon Rush button by accident because I want to surprise the opponent with a Dragon Rush. Turns out it's a hidden technique!
The way fans say Kamehameha is like nails on a chalkboard to me. I grew up in HI and had to study the king long before I ever saw DB, so that pronunciation was how I learned the name.
Where was this video when i started playing? I was always asking myself how people call in level 3 and a lot of other things. I'm liking so others don't have the struggles. Thank you.
You forgot to mention that sparking is a combo extender, when you use sparking while close to your opponent you will launch them, which can be very handy when ending a combo to extend it
wow such a "hidden" technique you mentioned about. you make me remembered how happy my feeling was, when i was a kid played DB super butoden and just found out how to deflect special moves. thanks for the tips, man...
You might want to add an annotation to tip 4: the tagged super will always be on the ground compared to a DHC that happens as if the tagged character was in your spot.
1. Reflect to super 2. Lvl 1 support lvl 3 support 3. (Air)super dash 4. Support combo possibilities 5. Crouching heavy to super dash and airborne 6. Sparkling can do jump cancelling (useful in the corner), we stop and can do any combo when do vanish 7. Sprakling make super dash more pressure , we can hit instead after super dash
You don't take chip damage and you recover slightly faster I believe. Not 100% sure though, didn't test it extensively yet. Either way, it doesn't feel like its worth it.
Minor note. Sparking is also great at extending combos since when it hits the opponent during a combo it sends them into a tailspin that you can followup.
for supers and special with really quick multi hits (ex: kamehameha/super kamehameha) do you have to constantly push reflect or can you press it just once?
Have to mash since it's not a single animation that lasts until nothing is in its hit box, the animation ends once the arm is fully up. So to reflect constant attacks ya would need to mash.
very glad to see this video, each one of these helped me out, sadly ill be coming back to watch over and over since I won't retain any info lol but I do wish the practice mode explained what moved did more, the crouch heavy will help me out a lot!

Euchre FGC it most definitely isnt a defensive game, hence the lack of options. That is the very definition of what Dragon ball is. The best defense is an overwhelming offense
Awesome man.
Note: Comboing into spark keeps them in a stun state.
Sparking by them with no combo pushes them back. :)
what i dont undersant, is , why i have to seek this basic knowlegde outside of the game, why don't the game just teach this in some sorte of advanced training mode?
I think because maybe the people who just wants to do supercombos and things like that (it's totally acceptable that you don't want to spend your time learning combos) probably find this information excessive. They're not going to use it anyways.
Welcome to fighting games
@Marky D So they don't know you can hold reflect to do a new animation, and also do stuff with it? Seems like too much work was put in that for it to be a thing they didn't know. Maybe they just forgot to put in the tutorial
For one, they won't be used by most people who play online or hard modes. Such people stick to minimal basic combos and exploit them over and over to get a feel of them and gain victory over their opponent. Very few people actually use all of the combos in this game.
Tbfh, most people just spam Kamehameha and other supers or beams.
Meta game bro. This is a fighting game not a shooter or rpg
I like that your video is not clickbait at all. Like you're actually right about the tutorial.
Better tutorial than the game 😂😂😂
Kingspider14725 lol tru
It is not a tutorial, it is a few tips. Oh wait gotta add my annoying overused emojis. 🤣🤣🤣
Fighting game tutorials aren't supposed to be casual friendly to certain extents.
Sparking also causes your assist bar to refill faster than normal whilst in effect, good video BTW. I'm quiet new to this game but really enjoying the way it plays and learning something new is always fun.
He fucked up on the fifth tip, he said another number and he replaced that shit LMAO subscribed for being human
Thanks for the input man
I'ma look for some shit too
....did you just reply to yourself...
LMAO
This was so akward to read
Ikr, LOL
Thank you so much I'm new to DBFZ and I had trouble with learning how to airdash quickly, this is a huge help!
Bandai Nanmco: releases Dragon Ball: Fighterz in the beginning of 2018
RUclips algorithm: shows a tips and tricks video a year later
I usually do the Instant Air Dash technique with the Dragon Rush button by accident because I want to surprise the opponent with a Dragon Rush. Turns out it's a hidden technique!
Everyone needs to watch this before touching ranked again
The way fans say Kamehameha is like nails on a chalkboard to me. I grew up in HI and had to study the king long before I ever saw DB, so that pronunciation was how I learned the name.
4:01 that edit lmao
Lol
I didn't think this video was going to be that helpful but the number 5 tips is gonna help out alot. Thank you so much!
My son was beating my ass all weekend but this helps me!! Thanks
William Betts Those damn auto combos. It got kids thinking they can play. LOL! Hopefully they take it off in a patch or in the second game.
T.K S they probably won't take them off cause they aren't that powerfull and most of all they are usefull in the manual combo innsome conditions.
T.K S it literally exists to essentially seperate casuals from people who play the game on a higher level
T.K S LOL!! me and my son are pretty much a tie at the raging blast 2 and the xenoverse 2, but I can't catch a rhythm to this game.
William Betts it's funny you mention raging blast 2 cuz I'm playing it rn😅
Where was this video when i started playing? I was always asking myself how people call in level 3 and a lot of other things. I'm liking so others don't have the struggles. Thank you.
Thank god I knew about the crouch heavy, people just mash the super dash 😂
You forgot to mention that sparking is a combo extender, when you use sparking while close to your opponent you will launch them, which can be very handy when ending a combo to extend it
can you make a video on team composition and switching?
Great informative video. That swap into level was something I saw once but didn’t know how to. Glad I can use your tips to add to my gameplay.
Sparking also makes the universal overhead cancelable into any special move. Just accidentally found that out today.
wow such a "hidden" technique you mentioned about. you make me remembered how happy my feeling was, when i was a kid played DB super butoden and just found out how to deflect special moves. thanks for the tips, man...
You're tutorial is realy well explained! Hope to see mores!
Krush that’s right, he is a tutorial
You might want to add an annotation to tip 4: the tagged super will always be on the ground compared to a DHC that happens as if the tagged character was in your spot.
#7 I Just found out LITERALLY an hour before watching this video...I thought I was special 😖
OBAssassinater hahahaha i now what you mean. Today finding something and using it is such a rare thing.
1. Reflect to super
2. Lvl 1 support lvl 3 support
3. (Air)super dash
4. Support combo possibilities
5. Crouching heavy to super dash and airborne
6. Sparkling can do jump cancelling (useful in the corner), we stop and can do any combo when do vanish
7. Sprakling make super dash more pressure , we can hit instead after super dash
Thats not all. In sparking your overhead is special cancelable.
Raziel he said that
That partner level 3 super is what ive been needing thanks!
thank you brother but can you make a tutorial on how to make combos with assist just like in the marvel vs capcom
Thanks for the DHC info especially. The in-game tutorial really did leave some major things out.
Best vid of dbz so far I swear
Thank jebus, Ive been trying to figure out how to tag in with level 3 for the longest. Shenron bless you my good sir
Oh wow, this is gonna make my Trunks game godly
This guy just totally changed the way i play this game... thanks man i haven't lost a ranked all day
Finally some useful tips!
I've seen people vanish without hitting their opponent and had no idea how to do it. Thanks, man.
3:59 Yo i feel like its edited there, am i being bamboozled?
It's a trap
Yup. He probably said "number 4" or 6 instead of 5, and noticed when editing.
bingo
I wasn't sure what i could learn from this video but all this is useful stuff. You got my like and subscribe
So, what's the difference between reflecting Ki blasts/super moves and just blocking them? Total noob here.
There is no chip damage if you reflect
Amazing! Thanks!
you don't get chip damage, it's kinda like parrying in Street Fighter III
You don't take chip damage and you recover slightly faster I believe. Not 100% sure though, didn't test it extensively yet. Either way, it doesn't feel like its worth it.
Sure hope so, considering chip damage in this game is nonexistant, so a faster recovery would make it a worthwhile risk.
Minor note. Sparking is also great at extending combos since when it hits the opponent during a combo it sends them into a tailspin that you can followup.
for supers and special with really quick multi hits (ex: kamehameha/super kamehameha) do you have to constantly push reflect or can you press it just once?
PhantomPacker99 just once.
Have to mash since it's not a single animation that lasts until nothing is in its hit box, the animation ends once the arm is fully up. So to reflect constant attacks ya would need to mash.
Boom Boom you don't need to mash it all you need to do is press it once and it will keep doing it through the whole attack
Shishou Pierre You can literally hear him mash through the level 1 and the constant ki blasts.
To be fair, just because he is mashing does not mean it is necessary. I'm not saying it isn't, because I haven't tried it.
Make krillin great again
Tsmooth TattooMan lol he's actually pretty good in this game tbh with that after image I get midfucked 3/4 of the time wen fighting him
Ghost-unknown Legend I think his arms are too short so I’d only pick him if I was a combo king cause he’s deadly in close quarters
His lvl 1 super is really good when you have more than one bar
Tsmooth TattooMan kill Krillin
krillin is dope af in this game, my krillin is one of the funnest to play and most often one of my deadliest mains
very glad to see this video, each one of these helped me out, sadly ill be coming back to watch over and over since I won't retain any info lol but I do wish the practice mode explained what moved did more, the crouch heavy will help me out a lot!
I'm getting dragonball fighterz I'm ready for all these poeple mashing buttons
disturbanceintheforce😂😂😂
