Thank you SO much for being transparent about the pros and cons of The Voyage North! They get a lot of hate, but it is a wonderful way to attend your first year if you have the money, and if you’re coming from out of the country!
I definitely think going by myself the first time would have been really overwhelming and taken the fun out of it a little bit so I’m really glad it worked out and made me comfortable with the experience! 💝
The nerdy girl summer of the other side of the Atlantic! Maybe one day you'll get to see the Conquest of Mythodea in Germany, or maybe we'll do the voyage to Bicolline ❤❤
I went 15 years in a row at bicolline! This is the best medieval - kinda larp you can experience with a scale that you never experience. You should try it a less once..... Since I'm from montreal.. I need to say. Nous aimons toutes le monde peut importe d'ou vous venez... Je n'y vais plus, mais allez y!
@@Incandescentkiki it was. I do wish they had another fort segment, more line fights, and I didn't get stuck in the damn woods for most of the last fight. 30-40 of us vs a monster and like 60-70 of them. Exhausting walking back to spawn.
At 9:13 in the video... THERE'S MY GUILDDD (I know you might think I'm dumb or something for being so happy of it) It's so rare that I see even a glance? of them when the battles are portayed. Yet, I see all of them (maybe 1 or 2 are missing.. but the majority of our warriors is there) in this video!!
hey welcome to Bicolline! You seem like you'd really fit in and like the religion Naaketuun :3 Lovers of all nature. In Spring time we have an event called The Croakening where we all gather by water and croak to awaken the frogs so they may eat the mosquitos. In it we make a contest of whoever croaks the best wins a prize, this year it was a beautiful leather frog crown made by our grand priest and in turn I made our grand priest a frog pendant with our symbol as a gift.
best way to fight the bico blues I found was to plan for next year, outfit to make, planning what I might want to do that I missed this year other than that watch videos and look for picture trying to find myself ;3
It was so amazing getting to meet you and hang out at Bicolline! That mini-movie at the very end was SO well done! Loved reliving the event through the video! Can't wait to see you again next year!!! -Crow

Hi! I was in Bicolline from Friday to Sunday, I’m sure that I spotted you but I wasn’t sure enough! Now that I know I would’ve said hi 😢 I’m glad that you enjoyed your first Bicolline!
Dang I never went but I remember my best friend at the time and his brother spending lots of time there building stuff when the site began, oh and building foam swords and shields.
helarious as always the great white north always surprises me since I had no idea it was held in quebec..honestly typical canadian thing dont blow your horn no one knows about this. Now if you really wanted the medieval experience hold it in February lol. Beaver fur hats, wolf pelt jackets and all you have to eat is a bag of potatoes and onions, youll never complain about central heating again.
31:40 those shoes look like the Greek "Tsaroùhia" shoes were wearing the fighters of 1821 rebellion against the Ottomans and the Greek battalion of Euzones are wearing traditionally. The legend says there was a knife sharp point under the "pon pons" (it's called founta) that they could wound the enemy with a kick.
Ive been making my own list in preparation for Bicolline. I cent express how truly excited this video makes me for the future and my own adventure. My husband and i plan to go with TVN for our first time and we're learning French. Do you have any Bicolline specific french that would be good to know?
There are some battle phrases that would be good to learn before hand! So glad you liked the video, I hope you go and have a blast! Some of the French I have written down: I'm on your team don't kill me! - avec toi! avec toi! To death- À la mort Break ranks- Rompez les rangs To victory - À la victoire ! shields, or "I need a bunch of shields up here!" - boucliers (en l'avance!) hourglass (for healing) - sablier healer - healer
This event very much seems a lot like Pennsic, of which I have attended several times, but with some different rules. I had no idea that LARPing was as large as this. By the way, the blue corset, at the end, looks smashing on you.
There is a kind of a 2 feet long 1 inch deep pond on a rockbase at our summer cottage yard. In summer nights it's a pool party for 1 to 4 frogs. They never invite me...
It was so fun to find you throughout the week and see the wonderful costumes you put together for Zorya! Thank you for the frankly incredibly extensive and entertaining video, you nailed it! P.S. Be sure to tell Castille I had a blast murdering him on the battlefield >:) 10/10 would slay again
Ahhh thank you so much! I was always so excited to bump into you. Also I love that we’re all killing each other and then hanging out in the river later hahahaha
What's the rough estimate of the cost going with The Voyage North? Just so I have a ballpark of what to save. The site doesn't say unless you actually apply, and I don't want to yet until I have enough money.
I always wonder when I see these videos how are you filming without your technology showing? Also yeah, knee pads and leather pants…if you do actual steel, ren (rapier) or shinai you know even if it’s “foam” you still need the right fighting equipment.
There were ones with homologation tags so they were certified! I didn’t see any out and about on the battle field but I did see some other funny ones like foam fish or baguettes lol
omg this looks amazing! this has shot even higher up the bucket list, however i have a question, how LGBTQ+ friendly was the event? Everyone in my guild was respectful! I met other nonbinary, queer & trans people there. There is a drag show every year, and the video of me screaming in the background “SLAYYY” was because the pirate got seduced by a merman in the show and they fake kissed 😂 so I’d say it was very welcoming!
You may want to do cost comparison between what you paid TVN and what it would have cost to attend independently. After I went in 2016 after talking to some of the folks in Montreal it was pointed out that I could have gone to the event for about a 3rd of what TVN charged.
That’s a good point! As I mentioned in the video they took care of a lot of the things that stress me out about travel which to me personally I think is worth their cost! Totally okay if it’s not for others, of course! I’m also not sure the cost of going on your own because there are so many different ways you can go. I’ve even heard of people paying for the entry ticket and just sleeping in the woods which I would not recommend 😂
Yes! TVN is VERY expensive. My husband and I recently learned about Bicolline and want to go so badly. We are very very fortunate to live within driving distance so we’re planning to just go it alone next summer, stay in non decorum, and see how things go. I’m sure we’ll be able to find some fun!
