I was so focused on getting this video produced and published, that I neglected to add in a very important thing about the Bico community. I recently attended to Bal Pourpre (AKA The Brown Ball this year). I had an absolutely great time, but most importantly there were SEVERAL people....more people than I would ever have imagined....who came up to me and said "You're that guy on RUclips" (And one who said "Aren't you that guy from PornHub?"....no...no that wasn't me). I was legitimately floored to find that people actually watch these things. And I have failed you all by not putting out content in a timely fashion. I hope this is the start of changing that, and I thank you all so much for your support!
Still waiting for the next upload haha! A information video about costumes( how many to bring) and other supplies to last the week would be awesome! I'm planning on attending the next GB for the first time and I'm having trouble finding information like that! Keep up the great content thanks for all the work you do!
So I was a professional armorer for decades and I just got to say please mount your shoulder armor higher up. its easy to just attach it to the shoulder strap on the body armor so it wont drag your clothes down on one side or the other during running or fighting.
Thank you, you are correct. If you read down lower i commented on this already. My assistant connected my shoulders to the wrong points, and she was low on patience at that point so I just went with it for the video.
Bicolline stuff has been popping up on my feed a ton. So far every person talking about seems like awesome people! I've always loved fantasy and swords and sorcery anything. My wife makes clothes... 🤔 I'm going to do more research 😊
Hi , I fight a lot a bico ( every campaign ) and you did a great comprehensive combat guide . Perhaps claryfing that piercing hits do not count on the heat but slashes ( halberd and sword ) absolutely count as a hit . Maybe a bit confusing for new players to understand the nuance between trust and strikes
Yeah I was so focused on making it clear that piercing strikes didn't count, that I sort of neglected to make it clear that slashing weapons could target the head.
Great video as always, keep up the great content but don't feel like you HAVE to make some as well, we appreciate what you do, even more for newer Bico members like me =)
LOL Just watching the Dread Duck be abused!!! Love the video! PS. show us on Gary where the poor lady hurt you. "wait that's obscene." See you at the GB!
Because of how broad and complicated it is to judge the energy a bow disperses, what advice do you have for a first timer wanting to do archery in GB but wants to ensure the bow they get is legal..? I heard rentals for arrows and bows go fast..
I am both thankful and disappointed about the nutshots, because as amusing as I find them, at least it won’t count if it happens to me. I’ve been wanting to go to biccoline for a bit now, so this will be very good to know in advance. And while you only need a detectable tap to score, is there a rule about being a little rough, as long as no one gets hurt?
Technically it does not. Though it's usually impossible for the receiver to determine. I have seen combatants tell others not to take their shot because it was flat or haft. Which is great sportsmanship. But it's fairly rare in the chaos.
You might've asked for that arrow shot, but I get the feeling your wife didn't hesitate and was more than happy to oblige ;-) Also good to see you back. Will we see any footage from the Bal Pourpre/Bal Brune?
Recommend the gents invest in a cup to avoid accidental groin shots. 😛 It may not count as a hit in the rules, but it sure will feel like it counted. Most can be worn inside your outfit without changing the look you're going for. most likely.
It is custom armor from Armstreet, and the arms fit fine. However prior to production of this video they weren't tied onto the correct arming points, and I didn't have the heart to correct my 'assistant'. Since I wasn't wearing it for anything that required movement I just left them as they were.
@@TheJabberWockyy It's actually precursor to the Dark Wolf armor. When Armstreet released the Dark Star armor I asked them to make a set out of the same material for a male body. So this was the prototype for that. And I don't know if I should do a review of their armor, because I'm very biased. There aren't many bad things I can say about it. I'll give it some thought!
I didn't address this because the answer is complicated. It's calculated based on the maximum extension of the bow, the band of the bow, and the difference between those two numbers. Thus a crossbow would have a higher maximum lb limit than a longbow because the extension stroke would be shorter on the crossbow. The best advice I can give is to refer you to the official link to the homologation site. Note that in the their rule of thumb is this 'If the bow fires more than 30m, it likely isn't legal' bicolline.org/guide-participant/homologation/
They are allowed! There are some caveats though. Specifically relating to piercing/thrusting weapons. No thrusts to the head are allowed. Likewise arrows to the face/head are disallowed.
Absolutely completely and utterly illegal. Shield to shield contact is mere contact only and no "force". (YMMV on pushing but it's technically not legal) No bashes, charges, rams, slams, or body checks.
I think it's pretty badass I would like to have my own community and I think I know how I would want the rules to be I do like realism. I just don't like the rule you get hit in the leg you have to get down and stay only pivot when in reality your adrenaline would be active sure you may not be using that leg the same depending where it got shot or what it got hit by. I mean mad respect for all larping communities they are amazing.
Realism would be that you'd very likely die from it. The femoral artery is pretty important. Hopping around is not terribly realistic. Feel free to do what you want to do in your own game, though (though hopping around also tends to not be very safe).
@@roguishpaladin2921 that's not what I said and you wouldn't be hopping around you must not know how armor actually works first off swords don't pierce plate armor by no means they can only penetrate where there is no armor. As for cutting you or stabbing you yes you can bleed out terribly fast but at the same time there's times people's adrenaline keeps them fighting and alive sure not for a very long time but still long enough to fight with everything they have. I've seen plenty of people who were shot over 20 times and still charged and managed to kill the other person sure they still died cause they bleed out. But anyways the full metal combat sport is where it's at! I just won't have it to where if your knee touches the damn ground you're out nope you keep fighting until one of you give up or receive enough points to win. All the safety rules applied. But you're able to fully customize your armor long as it is with in guidelines. And there will be castle siege scenarios, skirmishes, capture the flag, free for all etc.
I appreciate your pedantry here actually, but it was addressed in earlier comments. As you might imagine I cannot attach my own pauldrons, and my 'assistant' used the wrong attachment points. For the purpose of the video it was deemed 'good enough'.
In our version you have 6 target areas as well. But if you lose your leg, you can still use your other leg to hop around and use your injured leg to keep balance with the tip of your toes. If you lose both legs, you are dead. If you lose your arm, you will not be able to use it and if a melee weapon would hit your shield that you are still carrying with your injured arm, then you would die. You can continue to use two handed weapons with one arm. You may even attempt to use your bow with one arm and your healthy legs. But if your both arms get injured, then you die. So you can still fight with one injured arm and one injured leg. Hit to the torso is instant death just as well as your head. Basically there is no difference with a head and torso hit unless you are wearing armor. The armor you are wearing can provide one additional hit point to each target area and can provide only one point to each area. So basically maximum armor points is 6 around your body. Attacked area needs to be fully covered by the armor for it to count. So if you are wearing partial armor and the arrow hits you in a place that is partially covered by armor, but it also hits area that is not covered by armor, then its like the attack hit a gap in your armor and went through so the armor point doesnt protect you. But you could lose armor point from your head and armor point from your torso and be perfectly fine. We also have healers who can heal injured limbs only. This is done by tying a bandage on their injured limb. Once bandaged limbs cannot be bandaged a second time and if the bandage comes loose because it wasnt properly tied then original injury will be reapplied. Bandages cannot restore lost armor points but your injured limb may still have an armor point remaining, if your armor wasnt hit before you got injured. If you are dead then you are dead until the end of scenario unless there is a respawn point in the field at that scenario. There may be limited number of respawns per army or there may be limited number of mass respawns where a dedicated person will decide when its the right time to use a mass respawn for all dead players that have arrive in the respawn zone.
Although they 'should', there is a very good reason why they do not. The vast majority of minor injuries result from arrow strikes to the face. There is no requirement to wear face protection (though an argument could be made for why there should be) and so the compromise is simply to disallow headshots.
I was so focused on getting this video produced and published, that I neglected to add in a very important thing about the Bico community. Are their Japanese themed players at Bicolline, such as samurai?
@@justinadam2316 There absolutely are. There are some well established guilds that follow feudal Japanese traditions and styles.

Does being struck with the flat side of the blade count? Or being struck with the non-striking surface of the weapon count?

What about wearing leather over chain mail or vice versa
You only get to count the highest value of armor in a single location. You dont get to count them cumulatively
Is there an age limit for the battles? I would love to experience this, but I might not be the appropriate age. :3
You should be at least 21 years old for joining Bicolline
The minimum age to participate in the battles is 16
Is it ok to strap your shield on your back
Yes it absolutely is.

Armor does not stack and is not cumulative. It's simply the highest value of the area that is struck.
