In my opinion this is the Top Bicolline information related RUclips channel. The lack of Bicolline quality content on RUclips is disturbing, I hope you make much much more regarding Bicolline in all aspects. I look forward to the next Bicolline video
2 years later, this video is still useful (to someone living in Montreal). Thanks for your content! (My man about to find a stranger asking for that meal he promised online 2 years ago. Be prepared.)
Thank you for your service! I served as well and recently discovered what larping is. I am researching a lot before I jump into anything but glad I found you.
This was very helpful. Thank you! I briefly checked into TVN. I was dismayed at the lack of even rough pricing. The only way I could see to get pricing info was to start the application process, by filling out a long questionnaire, then having a phone/video chat. Talk about a barrier to entry! That's a sucky business model.
Looking at the info from bicolline or the voyage north i cant find a single thing about price or even an average cost. Thought that was kind of weird that i cant even get an idea of how much it would cost without half commiting to going to the event.
Getting kit together has been a slow process in 2020, hoping to go in 2021. Sometimes the gathering process is exciting in itself, and you can watch it come together without breaking the bank all at once
Thanks for this one. I had contacted the voyage north and was all set for 2020... maybe 2 weeks later covid hit. I can’t make 2021 dude to my work schedule. Im a Bering sea fisherman but next year I’ll see you there
I’m glad you’re making these videos, my friends and myself will be going one of these years and it’s good to get this kinda info. I once thought $1,000 was a lot for a trip like this but the more videos I see and the more info I receive it’s definitely worth it’s weight in gold and I can see it being a worth while experience.
I really appreciate this video I've been stressed thinking the voyage north is my only option although the voyage north experience would be amazing its simply not in my budget
Thank you for this. I couldn’t find the prices for everything anywhere and I was starting to think I might not be able to even consider going. Not sure if you’re still going to Bico or still holding to the whole free meal thing, but if you are and I see you there, I will definitely take you up on the offer.
Prices have definitely increased in the years since this video was made, but the core message is the same. It's still very possible to attend for significantly less than most people think. And yes I'm always there, and the offer is always good!
Non-decorum camping is right next to the battlefields. It's about a 5 minute walk to the heart of Old Town from there and another 5-7 minutes-ish to New Town
I haven't been to Bicolline yet and I've been meaning to for a while now. Your video is by far the best I have seen in explaining the best way to go. Hope to see more content soon and maybe some footage of the battle, thanks
Hello, thank you so much for your videos and content. I am 52 years old and going to Bocolline with my family is a total bucket list thing for me and your channel has been very informative. I live in Minnesota and am considering driving to Bico with my son (2023) and meeting the rest of my family there (approx 1,500 miles). I’d love to hit you with some questions and and will try to keep them to the point. 1. Do you drive to the event and do you bring your own tent or stay in a building? 2. I have considered the price of renting two tents and am considering purchasing two medieval tents for this trip and future larping events wondering if you could recommend a US tent company and do I need to make a reservation with Bicolline for tent space ahead of the event? 3. Is there a English speaking contact for Bicolline other than the voyage north? Really I would love to show up set up camp in the period section for a full immersion experience, let my wife and 4yr old grandson stay in a close hotel and visit during the day while me, my two sons and daughter in law stay in game in the tents. When I type this out it sounds easy but the logistics of going are a bit more complicated. Any thoughts or insight on this type of trip would be great. We plan on buying the full ticket when there meals, showers, etc. Thank you for information and help that you have already posted and if you choose to respond to these questions. Tony.
Greetings fellow mature adult! We drive, but we live in Northern New Hampshire now (we used to drive from Texas) so it's a short 2 hours for us. We own two buildings on site for our guild, so we have a bit of space. If you use Discord, I recommend The Traveler's Guide as a good English-speaking resource for Bico information (discord.gg/URr8qfcB) otherwise feel free to contact me dreadduck@gmail.com. The nearest hotel is in Shawinigan and that's a bit of a commute. The are some B&Bs in St Mathieu Du Parc, which is much closer, but they fill up fast for the GB. The logistics for the trip can be tricky, so it's smart to start planning now.
Hello fellow Veteran and mature adult! 😁 thank you so much for the response and good tips. I just downloaded the discord app and will attempt to navigate it. I have set up vacation time and am starting to set things up. I look forward to any future corespondents with you and possibly seeing you there!
the rental tents are nice! in 2019 i rented one for about $450 for the whole week. compared to a hotel that's cheap! they include 3 cots and a wooden lock box for valuables. Tents sell out fast so be on the look out when tickets go on sale.
hello! just found your channel :) I know this video could be outdated now but do you know how much it would cost to go with TVN? I'm going from Ireland so I'm quite limited in terms of space to bring stuff with me, and considering this event is officially in French and I don't speak French, the TVN sounded like a cool option to get to know some people on the way. I have never been to any larp in my life before so there's that as well. In any case, after watching your video I'm considering now to avoid TVN but honestly I have no idea how much is the difference between the two options
So this is a complex question that requires a bit more nuance than a reply allows. I think it's time for me to make a Q&A video. That said, it's not necessary to speak French but it's encouraged to TRY. It is the official language of the province. Most people there speak English and absolutely WILL help if you're struggling. TVN is far from the only group of Anglophones at Bico. TVN *is* very convenient for those coming from anywhere other than North America, but it's quite pricey and if your budget doesn't allow it there are always other options. I cannot provide current pricing for TVN as I'm not affiliated with them. I'll try to provide more detailed answers to this and some other questions in a video in the next week or so.
@@thedreadduck ah okay. Thank you so much!:)) I love your content btw! If everything goes well I might be able to see you on Bico in 2023!:DD let's catch some beer then and talk haha
So that's actually a legit problem right now, because due to COVID they don't really have any staff. Everyone has been laid off for over a year. :( I'm not sure what to tell you, other than be patient with them for now. Any major events are still about a year off.
So, what you're saying is that I should go and roleplay as a beggar to get all the food and drink that I want so I can save a buck or two? Jk, great video, I'd love to make it to Bicco someday!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the TVN option. It's just not an option for everyone's budget.

Thanks! You were already on the free food list by the way. ;)
I would have expected $3-4,000 CAN for the all-included week.
If I can use the port-o-Johns in Iraq throughout summer I can use any port-o-John. I'm hoping to drive up there from Texas this year with my brother.
How far of a hike is it from the tenting sites (bring your own tent/camping gear) to the main area? Thank you for this video.

Is the tent rental in the faubourg price per night or for the week?
That 2019 price was for the entire week. Again, I would expect the prices to change to some degree when things reopen, but that gives you a ballpark.

Does the $385 tent rental cover from Sunday to Saturday or only one night???
That is for the entire week. Though obviously 2022 prices have not been published yet. That price is subject to change.
