Wauw i can tell just by listening to this video, that this loudspeaker is miles ahead of the SBA761 I uploaded a video of the SBA761 playing the exact same song 😁 The weight and fullness of the vocal here is simply astonishing! Sounds so rich! I can easily imagine how good this must sound while actually being there in the room😅
@@janus1977 both the SBA761 and my Discovery861 are both build by Troels, I purchased them directly from him, the actual set showcased in his articles😁 Also my own recordings are also with a smartphone.
@@janus1977 I have JBL K140 ported in a 54L cabinet, and it is little thin in the bass, but has pretty clear midrange for a 15". But I think large drivers above 10" has no business plaing midrange above 350Hz. At the same time, my Eminence Lab12 sealed sounds terrible above 80Hz. That might be an Eminence thing, but I suspect thst drivers that do subwoofer duty, like the 18" in the Loudspeaker 2, would have more distortion than 15" driver in the Faital 3WC or The Loudspeaker 3. But I don't like my subwoofer, and my large 15" JBL K140 feels kinda meh. Maybe I should go even larger and get two 21" subs, but that driver would probably do even worse at 200 Hz. So 18" is a good compromise. I read someone who said that his 21" is not really needed and is mostly for helicopter crashes in movies.
@@rewind9536 for music listening, the 15pr400’s do a great job, tight down to about 30hz I reckon. I wondered how they would perform with a highpass on the woofers at about 50hz, and subs below that. Might be interesting.
Have you built speakers before? This was my first time, I followed Troels’ design and used a local woodworking workshop to cut and assemble the cabinets. I love these speakers, they produce amazing sound.
@@janus1977 Guy who works in acoustics shop knows all the stuff - proper wiring, proper size of cabinets and so on. I’ll try JBL 220ti horn tweeters with faital pr 400 15 inch woofers. Should sound fine I hope.
hello, perfect the faital 3wc-15. I do not see the values of the filter components on the site of troel. how to know them? because I would like to test with cheap components before ordering the kit
Remember you cant use troels gravesen filter values, if you change to cheap components. It will not sound well, as the data is very different. 😊 // Kristian
@@kristiankristensen9448If the main values are the same (eg inductor DCR, and standard values for L, C, R), then as long as drivers and cabinet are the same, "cheaper" crossover components will be ok. In reality you might save a small amount on capacitor or by using steel laminate core inductors. Or if you want to be really cheap, using electrolytic capacitors everywhere for $2 each
@@RennieAsh i know. But i was more drivers and so on, i was talking about. And you cant say they will sound the same if you change to cheap capasitors as well, there is a huge differents in how well they sound. They dont have to be expensive, it is possible to find good quality capasitors for much less money, but you need to know them, otherwise you might as well gamble on nr 28 in a roulette.
What about the rest of the equipment and recording tools? The bass is disappointing. I listened to all your videos about the 3wc-15, and the bass always sounds the same: muddy and disconnected from the rest of the spectrum. Now, assuming that the playing/recording device is not particularly biased in the low-region, I presume that this is a speaker issue. That's strange because I know that Faital 15", and it should not sound like that. Sorry for being negative. On the other hand, you did a killer job in building and finishing those beasts, my congratulations!
Nice sound have the faital which is a great 15 bass driver
I have the same great 15´´
Sounds good
I would make the same speakers 👍
Super nice buddy. I'm working on the smaller 12 inch version right now. can't wait !
Thanks Badr, Troels knows how to design a great speaker, I’m sure you’ll be very happy! Have you built speakers before?
@@janus1977 Yup. I have built the Mandolin 2 MTM by Jeff bagby and absulotely loving it.
Добрый день. Отличный звук. Я бы хотел тоже такие построить. Хотелось бы увидеть как они играют рок музыку.

iPhone microphones don’t do our speakers justice. I like your 761’s, very nice and true to Troels’ aesthetic :) how long did they take to build?

@@Lasse3 very cool, did you get to meet Troels? The DIY immunity is fortunate to have him! I’m extremely happy with the 3wc’s
Thanks for sharing . they sound really good. woofer sounds fast, well controlled
Listening to these through my own little diy speakers. Lovely dynamics and detail. Wish I had the space for something like these.
Which speakers did you build?
Hi Hugh. Did you buy the drivers locally? I cant find an Aus supplier for the mid driver
No I purchased from Lean business in the UK.
Ooh, that bumps the build cost
it was the cheapest option including freight@@TKa-sl5ik
Muito bom.
Hello Hugh ! Great job. An extraordinary project. How can I contact you for more information?
If you leave your email address on here briefly I’m happy to email you.

Would you consider selling these speakers?
David where are you located?
Отлично 👌 звучит💯👍
Very very nice! How long did it take you to build those speakers?
about 100hrs
Where do you buy the birch?
I live in Sydney Australia, I purchased it from a local timber supplier.
I wonder how they sound like compared the The Loudspeaker II with BMS 18" midbass instead of a 15" 15PR400.
If it were within my budget, I’d probably have built the loudspeaker 2 instead.

When you buy the kit from Jantzen audio, they provide you with the values. This is how Troels makes some small money from his designs.
