Such a well crafted video and obviously, the speakers as well! I haven't found too many videos of Troels Gravesen builds, and I am so grateful for this one.
Great stuff, they must sound awesome, no messing around with the quality of the crossover parts, Amber Z and Alumen Z. love to hear demo tracks of female vocal and accoustics. I have built the Discovery 861 as my starter ( posted on RUclips ) now sold and about to take on the TG Revelator 851 which I am looking forward to, will vid the progress as I go along and post. Enjoy listening to your great work.
Thanks mate, they do sound awsome 👍 a true end game loudspeaker! I will upload some more songs in a few days let's see what youtube allows me to upload. Great that you're following Troels work as well by building his 851, must be a very capable speaker as well 😌
Lovely concept and work 👍Funnily enough I am working on a similar high efficiency concept involving coaxial main drivers and separate woofers in a large cabinet for my RFC brand. You make it look easy but I know the effort, blood, sweat and tears that go into producing something like this. Intrigued to see how the TL2s turn out. I haven’t settled just yet on which coax I’ll be using but have considered BMS drivers. A good big efficient speaker imho will always beat a little’un as long as the acoustic field can be well engineered. Best of luck with the project👍
Thanks a lot! I am still being mind blown from what those PA high sensitivity drivers can do, effortless dynamic across the spectrum... my wife is incredible, accepting such monsters in our house. Seems like what makes this speaker so great is also its culprit=sheer size... but after you taste what a well implemented 18 inch woofer+10inch mid+horn can do, I'm afraid there's no going back to small stand mounts.
Your cabinet design is absolutely stunning - it gives Troels' design a home worthy of its components. Regarding the 6 point corners rear corners where the upper and lower cabinets meet (which is a sublime geometric detail) - why did the constructed cabinet depart from the designed corner? Was constructing the upper corner just too difficult or fragile, or is there another factor? I hope you post more content on the second set when completed - the veneer triangles look fantastic in the design.
Ohioskull thank you mate for the comment. I really wanted to do something special and as I started fiddling with the design on sketchup I got a bit carried away with the forms... I wouldn't imagine how difficult it would be to actually execute such geometric forms. In the upper corner I decided to leave some meat since otherwise as you noted it would have been to fragile. Yet another extremely difficult thing was to get both upper and lower cabinet to be flush on all sides (on all panels). But all is well... next time I'll be making a rectangle cabinet and be done with it ;)!!!
Thank you, yes I am from Germany Freiburg. I do costume cabinet designs based on Troels Gravesen fantastic loudspeakers. If you wish you can contact me at- gellernoam@gmail.com
sorry i just discovered your channel. yeah i'm late to the Party. but better be late than never learn about your Projects. WOW. i'm speechless !!. your work designs, craftsmanship is TOP NOTCH all ooze Quality. very impressive. i don't know if this is a Hobby of yours or you sell those speakers on commission ?!. is there part 2 of the finished speakers ?. i'm gonna look. hope to find it.
Always cool to be late to a Party ;) thank you very much for your response, working now on the second part of the TL2, just always takes lots of time to finnish those projects... all the best to you 🙏
Hugely impressive speakers... However, wine holders in your bass ports is truly genius. A couple of vintage Burgundy's in there will surely boost the lower registers:)
Kenji at Kenrick’s Audio of Japan has some marvelous tech he works on that may be of interest to you. His deep knowledge of JBL upgrading including speaker design is amazing. This sounds lovely and natural. Here on RUclips.
Hey, you build really good speakers. A Sato horn like that would be something. I want to at least try it after the coax I'm currently buying together. Greetings from behind the mountain and forest. 🤘👍😅
@@noamgellerdiy Thank you for the invitation. 😃But at the moment I'm unfortunately very busy 😵, so my old horses probably won't get me through the dark forest so quickly. Maybe in a few months, when I have a holiday ... 🏖
Thanks for the tip! I'm currently biamping them with MasterSound SET amp for the mids and highs and class D Hypex drivers the BMS woofer. Bel canto DAC2.5 and that's about it. Recording how they sound with my phone really don't do them any justice, but for the moment that's what I have.
I would say yes, they are. Especially for the tweeter and mid on signal path. They are in general smoother. I will try the pathaudio resistors as well in the next build.
They will compete with any high end speaker, strengths being amazing soundstage and scary dynamics, when the music start they will demand attention, never heard better in my room.
Thank you sir.. for ur reply.. I have same configuration except driver brand is different I,ve all driver from beyma (spanish) top AMT tpl150h midrange driver 8mc300nd & 18lex1000nd some of my friend raising questions on midrange smaller as compare to 18inch (should be minimum 10inch) plz guide or give ur opinion as u have done same similar project plz enlighten me? If I need to change any driver which one would be as ur knowledge & information thank you .. Regard
Hey mate, this project is the design of Troels Gravesen, he is the genius who made this high end kits for us mortals. I don't have the hardware nor the software to design loudspeaker, I'm just building the fancy cabinets ;) You should definitely check his website if you are still not familiar with his work! Top art , i do it simpler making bass cabinet separed from midhighs...so i can move position for phase and directivity..like the old kef 105 and 107...bass i use jbl 2245 in bessel 190 liter....from 250 hz i choose 10" neo p-auduo 10" midbass and highs beyma tpl 150.....i can swap for precision devices 10" neo and beyma motor 1,4" cp 755nd ...supertweeter jbl 2204h....for test i go actif , or filter passif the amps with cerwin vega cx 2 , at 250hz 12 db/oct...
Looks like a silent angel, I want to buy this beauty
Your interpretation of The Loudspeaker is the best think I have ever seen!

You're still the best at it and a very generous human being. I'm in the finish processing of my own speakers thanks only to you.
Thanks mate :) would love to see your creation when your done!
A man of many talents! Superb craftsmanship! Enjoy these beauties for years to come!

True works of art and skill! Bravo! Curious already for the next part.

What superb artwork👌👏🧙♂Did You record Melanie Di Basio's "With all my love" from The Loudspeaker II?
Thank you for your comment 🙏🏼
I've used the original recording of the great Melanie Di Basio. But will make a small music compilation in the video.

What do you think of some of the Von Schweikert speakers he had some really innovative designs?.
Well I've heard the von Schweikert speakers only once, they were awsome. More then that I cannot say

Has anybody compared a TL1-3 speaker to a Pureaudioproject design? I would appreciate an answer very much!

Hi, what is the plywood you are using ? It looks like 1.5 " or 38 mm thick ?
I'm using 30mm plywood
Very nice! What song is this?
Thanks! Melanie De Biasio with all my love
For people not as talented as you building speakers I highly recommend Klipsch Forte IVs or Cornwalls IVs.
Wheres the sound demo you posted with these white TL2s ?

Hello, have you the CNC plan of this new design ?
Cnc? I have done it in the old school way, with a saw! So no plans, sorry.
For your next video, perhaps a Troels inspired open baffle?
Mmm... maybe, for now the TL2 ticks all my boxes
