I still insist that of all the greatest singers I've ever heard, Eddie Levert maintained the most powerful, controled, melodic, gut wrenching, and soul stirring voices I've ever heard. I know, what about Teddy, Peabo, Ruffin, Luther, etc.? I just don't feel Eddie got his props, the masculinity of the Ojays and the power of his voice intimidated some folks, but I just have to tell the truth. You win in my book Eddie, props to Philly International as well!

Happy Birthday to Eddie Levert, longtime member and co-lead singer of the legendary O'Jays, born June 16th, 1942. On June 16, 2024 he celebrated his 82nd birthday. By any measure, the O'Jays are one of the most important Soul Music groups of all-time. Whether delivering funky dance music, romantic ballads, or thoughtful social commentary in song

What must be remembered here ... This is another one where the vocals were live. If you listen to the recorded version, the verses were reversed ... And it is still fire. If you look at the crowd, half of them aren't dancing ... They are watching. Even they realize that this right here ... It's a moment. For real. 💗💗💯💯💯

What I love after 50+years as a group Eddie and Walter had a perfect blend in being lead singer. Eddie has that raw, rich go hard sexy approach and Walter has that smooth, charming, sexy swag. Both are charismatic and dynamic performance. RIP to William who was a phenomenal dancer and background singer. He held his own. I’m sure his lost to the O’Jays was unimaginable.

Don’t forget the late Bunny Sigler also sang with the guys on this and many other songs he wrote for the O’jays. He’s the one singing bass.

Don Cornelius had a real love for the show. We have lost some serious sight for music. Thank God New Edition is touring again. Its gonna take a johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant to keep some Synchronized dancing coming thru in 2021. God is still in the blessing business..
