Kirkwall is the largest town on Orkney. I stayed at a hotel there in July 2019 when I visited Highland Park and Scapa Distilleries. I also visited the Ring of Brodgar (a Neolithic henge) and the Standing Stones of Stenness (planted by Ancient Alien Astronauts 5,000 years ago 👽). If you ever go to Orkney, definitely a MUST VISIT!
The Orkney Islands didn't have trees back when the peat got laid down. So the peat is made up of heather and moss thats why its more fragranced

Just bought a bottle of the Single Cask Heart of it All … which was done specifically for Ohio..13 yo… Refill Sherry Butt..578 bottle run. 63.2% ABV…It maybe my favorite Highland Park..and yes..a touch of H2O does really change the flavor profile. If you can handle the proof…try your first dram neat…then try another with water…

My understanding is that 'Mash Bill' refers to mixed grain (corn, wheat, rye, barley), not different strains of barley (concerto, etc).
@@brewcrewbill not true. A Mash is just Grain, Water, and Yeast. So a full on Mash Bill would be: What the actual grain is, the water, and what the actual yeast strain is. I'd say when people say what the mash bill is on Bourbons, we're only getting a partial mash bill.

Hey guys thanks for brightening my day. 🤙 I wish I could have you try my local distillery's new bourbon. It's called Black Draft Distiller's Select which he said means it's a 100% West Virginia bourbon - barrel, grains and all. I'd totally send some if the laws weren't so stringent.

I don't mind It sped up I just wish the audio was pitch adjusted so it sounded like normal speed but faster

Now then guys. Quick question. Would you say that age statement whiskey, when it comes to scotch, is that distillers quintessential taste profile. For example Talisker do the skye and storm wich are opposite ends of the spectrum flavour wise but the 10 year-old is the one to represent the flavour?
With such a limited run Why was this not held out for a rare whiskey Friday? Just saying based on what I found its 190$ and seems to be hard to find as I need to travel 4 states to get it.

I understand why distilleries will proof a product down to 40% and 46% (lowest possible and lowest without chill filtering.) I noticed in scotch a lot of distilleries will choose 43% as their proof. Why is that? It seems like you lose on both ends because you have to chill filter, thus stripping out a bit of the flavor and you get slightly less product to what you would have gotten if you took it all the way down. Is it a marketing thing so that it doesn't seem the companies are aiming for the basement, or is it something else?
For some reason a LOT of whiskies - at least scotch - really work at 43%. Sometimes the proofing is in the taste not in the bank.

Can't stand pears! Used to like them - though the texture was always weird. Then I did a 28 day juice diet - my like for everything came out intact - except for pears - never want another one as long as I live.

It's a Single Malt, but what kind of Barley is it? Well if the type of Barley doesn't matter than that means you can't really be creative...but then the Master Distiller at Westland was like: well I think Bourbon is played out because you can't do much with it. Which turned me off to his company, clearly he's choosing willful ignorance.
Malting is a process, it has zero to do with Barley, therefore you can even have a Single Malted Bourbon.
