- The one and only Bastard Rap Jason Chow supplies two unique bottlings of Woodford Reserve to the Vault. Rex and Daniel compare to their regular expressions and discuss whiskey space flight.
Thanks to Jason Chow for the bottles! Cheers you MB!
Woodford reserve double oak is my favorite! So so good! Getting another bottle today
Woodford Double Oaked is my favorite whiskey. I am not a skilled taster, but it brings me joy every time I drink it.
Double oaked is one of my favorite bourbons. I always pick up a lot of chocolate in the nose - a desert whiskey.
Whiskey spankings. Rex, please stop beating the whiskey, at least until they are 18 years old.
I prefer my martinis spanked, not stirred.
spare the rod spoil the whiskey
What are you doing, step-mooch?
This might be the most underrated comment ive ever read.
Hello from Denmark!
I have just bought a bottle of Double Oaked. this is probably one of my all time favourite Bourbons. Thanks for doing the review.
That ease of entry for the Woodford rye is what got me into the ryes and another friend of mine into rye as well. It's a great starting point for just getting into general whiskey.
FYI, all Double Oaked bottles are in that short stubby bottle now, not just the store picks. Store picks just have the extra sticker with the store info.
All double oak is in that shaped bottle now.
Agree..and for over a year at the very least.
@@MrLaserpowered longer than a year, at least 3
This channel is a sinking ship!!!!!!!
*snarky sarcasm*
@@capnvik1 Not gonna lie you had me in the first half
Love the edits, thank you Fancy Dan. Also, Daniel has not noticed Emma has been in the vault...
Thank you for making these and previews episodes, you guys make my days pass easier, really appreciated. Although that last episode of tribe channel was really disgusting, the rest was great. Awesome
aerospace engineer here: happy to help Daniel out with his orbital mechanics when I come visit the distillery
Oh my god. You're actually reviewing a whiskey I have on my shelf. Double Oaked. Just used a splash in my homemade cocktail cherries. Cheers. Might be the first time I taste a whiskey along with you guys.
Solid 3 minutes of whiskey content squeezed into a 13 minute video. Bravo.
Daniel: I don’t think we have a Woodford Rye in here.
Perfectly seen in the camera view obvious bottle just a little too high on the shelf for the Hobbit.
Had this last week for the first time. It's GOOD!
I believe semi-sweet chocolate chips is what you were going for Daniel!
I was gonna reply with that.
Cheers ,to giving us a fun break from the chaos of the world !
The Woodford Double Oaked is my go to bourbon. So damn good.
Gansitos. For those that have had gansitos, this puppy smells just like a gansito. Ever since that got into head, it elevated my appreciation of it. I liked it, then MEMORY, now love it.
I love gansitos! I just got my first WRDO. Gonna see if I can catch that note
“ we are getting a little abstract”
You know you’re out there when Rex wants to real it in.
😁 easily one of if not the best whiskey reviews online.
Bittersweet chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate is still dark chocolate. Love your show.
I’m sitting here with the same glass, you guys nailed it
I love you two thinking of putting a Barrel in orbit! But there were so many holes in that idea! LOL But seriously....Iove the idea!
And another on the list. Just thoroughly enjoy anything from Woodford Reserve.
Hello from Shropshire in England 🏴
Sweet. Just had one before bed. Now found this before before bed. Timing!
Just ordered a bottle of Woodford Double Oaked couple of hours ago. Have a good feeling about it now :)
It's one of my favourites. Hope you are enjoying it!
@@Sismodium Look for the brown sugar notes. It has something that reminds me of Stubbs bourbon BBQ sauce.
@@matthewwilson1226 I bought some Stubbs once. It was good, but I didn't expect it to be so watery.
This video had me cracking up more than normal. And the double oak is one of my favorite bourbons.
Your editor deserves a raise. Fricken hilarious!
Coincidentally i was sipping on this when i saw this video posted , i like the double oaked quite a bit.believe all double oak is in those bottles now.
You are like me with the Double Oak. I love original Woodford, but the Double Oak just adds another layer of depth that makes it wonderful to sip on. Too bad it is about 50 bucks where I live. If it was cheaper, the Double Oak would be a daily sipper for me.
Its some good stuff for sure. I love buttery maple smell and the spicy wood taste.
$50 Smfh it’s $35 out here 916
@@MrIntenseproductionz Lucky you
With tax its 80$ here. Ouch!
Congrats on 300k! and now on 301K!
2:34 I now want us to redo the theme song for Spaceballs and rename it Space Drams....I need this in my life.
GDit I love Woodford double oak. Have some in my decanter as we speak. Guess I'll go pour a glass. Cheers.
I literally picked both of these up at the local store about the same time this video released.
Someone sent me to this video and I am so glad someone else (even if it is Rex) likes to give the bottle an old slappity slap!
I loved the fruitiness of the rye. It was surprisingly sweet, smooth and light. The double was good but if you’re talking a versatile and cheaper whiskey. The rye is like 20$ cheaper, tastes great alone and could be easily mixed if you have some non whiskey drinkers over for company.
No longer $20 cheaper thanks to the Imbecile-In-chief's inflation.
Quintessential wall, do the wall!! Lol I feel like a child never stop asking lol, y’all are awesome
Seconded again!
They're planning on doing an official standalone rundown video soon, but here's vol. 1:

Handsome Dan your the man, thanks for awesome hard work
@@fancydan1498 how did I miss this?! You are indeed the man.
Just picked up a bottle of the Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. It's a nice sipper.
You guys are outta this world with your shenanigans!..............sorry Rex
MMM. The Double Oaked is always on hand especially select! and Woodford Rye in general is outstanding.
Dude I just opened a new bottle of the Woodford double oak. Definitely loving it. easily a step above most bourbons.
I don't know how. Can't taste anything past that Listerine taste. But I'm also just getting into bourbon.
Definitely my favorite around the $50 price point. I get nice sweetness and dark fruit like cherries
@@adamray2305 I hear ya! Every bourbon I try tastes basically the same. Maybe it's time to find a new hobby. 🤔
@@adamray2305 and how is it going now? Able to taste more in your bourbons??
@@steve3011 going good, thank you for asking. I tried to Woodford and it's absolutely amazing. Also, tried Grant's Scotch, which is just as amazing. I've found that the Jim beam brand just isn't conducive to my taste buds
The amount that Rex has leveled up his whiskey game give me hope for my nose and pallet.
My uncle used to say “I give you my love” on Xmas 😂
I’m on lunch at work watching this.
Me too , cheers to you bastard.
When I had Woodford Reserve Double Oaked Bourbon, I thought it smelled like creme brulee. LOVE IT. I kept some in the bottle so I could just smell it from time to time.
New market opportunity: whiskey scented air fresheners.
@@moopert86 what for? We already have whisk(e)y! Lol
DO is one of my favs. I get s’mores. On for my palette, i like lower proof, like this DO.
YES! You've brought back the poorly hung subscribe sign.
Wait this isn't hockey
I've been accused of being poorly hung a time or two.
Double Oak is one of my fave bourbons. I always get chocolate maple pancakes flavor lol
“Did you do the honey bun combo?” Nearly shot my Eagle Rare out through my nose. 😂😂 Never even dreamed of pairing honey buns and pork rinds, but now I kind of have to.
Hey I wanted to suggest a video idea to you guys if you haven't done something like this yet. A blind taste test between cocktails that have been shaken vs. stirred to see if you can really tell the difference.
Also Woodford picks are apparently 2 barrel batches.
"DISTILLER’S SELECT PERSONAL SELECTION Because each barrel matures at its own rate, they take on a character of their own. So you’ll taste several as you craft your own two barrel batch. Then we’ll bottle your selections, complete with personalized labels. It’s Craft Bourbon, and you’re one of its craftsmen.
Here’s what you’ll receive:
180 1.0L bottles of your selected bourbon, offered in personalized, individually labeled bottles bearing your name. A personalized barrelhead. One of the empty barrels used in the bottling (if desired). A private tour of the distillery and lunch with tasting group. Your name on a permanent plaque at the distillery."

I would love to see you guys do a comparison of like the woodford rye and the wild Turkey, wildly available and similar apv and price.
pork rind honey bun and whiskey is my favorite after work snack now actually
Woodford put out an experimental Double Double Oaked once. Same as the Double Oak but the 2nd barrel is double charred. Really brings out that woodsy bitter chocolate note. Don't know if they still make it. Super limited experimental runs are kind of Woodford's thing.
With enough whiskey these gentlemen may just solve all the world's problems.
Woodford double oaked is a steal out here for only $35 in Sacramento but looks like it’s starting to go up in price lol thanks a lot guys Hahahaha
In one of those conversations you get into hanging with Friends: a good Death. I'm not looking to check out, this is in the American Indian tradition of, "Today is a good day to die."
It's About meeting one's demise with some dignity, grace, bravery, strength, honor and all that glorious testosterone Bullshit. To quote my Pap, "I don't know that there's a good way to die; but there's for sure are a few bad ways."
With that meandering preamble. You guys gave me an idea for a way an adventurous person could schuck off this mortal coil.
You're an astronaut floating in low earth orbit. Something has gone horribly wrong and you're untethered and running out of oxygen. You have made peace with your imminent journey over the river Styx. Out of nowhere comes an unattended Whiskey Barrel SCREAMING along at a closing speed of Mach 34: right at you. In this collision you, the barrel, and the 100 Liters of Scotch inside: are all atomized into a mist of crimson caramel SCOTCHMONAUT!
Then your debris Burns up in a 88 proof blaze of glory! Scattering, Smearing your aggregate, aged, atomized ashes across the Ionosphere.
Now that's a toast. 🔥🌠🌌
You guys should do a showcase of the whole vault selection, then have people vote on their favorite shelf, and do a whiskey tribe episode blending that shelf
You guys should try Willett Rye. Couldn't find a review of it on the channel. I have a bottle of Woodford Rye, but Willett is my go-to.
I work with some folks that have gone on a Woodford Pick in the past. They present you with multiple barrels and you choose two of them to be mingled and then proofed down to the classic Woodford proof.
Somebody commented that they like woodford double oaked more than some members of their family on your channel.. and that is why I am drinking a glass neat right now. Thanks! Edit- I am eating White Castle while drinking it, and then you guys mentioned wc during the review, must be fate. I’m a simple man, good bourbon and cheap food 🇺🇸
Newb and WRDO is my favorite so far. Like candy when it opens up a bit.
Sitting and watching while pretending to study chemistry... I blew coffee out my nose on "the smell of negative ions..." Shenanigans.
Key point of this video I'll always remember. Whiskey Spankings!
Don't forget the brown sugar! It's like southern BBQ, a briny malt vinegar nose with a woodyness, then a brown sugar vanilla, with a nutty woody finish. In my opinion it's the best spirit I have tasted out of America so far. Try it for sure.
This is what I read online."you’ll be guided through a tasting and asked to select your favorite among three distinct flavor profiles, meticulously crafted by our Master Distillers to showcase the variety and complexity of flavors within Woodford Reserve Double Oaked." Also the bottling for the double oaked label changed in 2017 or around that time too this bottling you have now. Cheers!
I never really cared for woodford, I tried the double oak and loved it. Went back to try regular woodford, not sure what happen but I like the regular woodford better. Now one of my top 5.
I tried the doubled oak, didn't think it was worth the price, I like the regular.
Woodford is my go to bourbon, i have never got cherry out of it.
Woodford Double Oaked is my favorite big brand sipping bourbon.
What is your overall favorite Bourbon to sip on?
@@jskypercussion That's sort of like asking my favorite song or movie, lol! Tough to nail down. Varies with my mood, honestly. Lately, I've been loving a barrel pick of Bulleit Single Barrel. Amazing toffee note at the core.
You could always try the weather balloon thing. Attach a container of whiskey onto a weather balloon with a camera & once it reaches a high enough altitude the balloon will pop. Just make sure the whiskey has a parachute & a way to track it.
What are the odds... I bought this double oak today to try for the first time. And my name is also Jason Chow!
I always get a buttery pancake syrup note from the double oaked bourbon, not sure if that carries over to the SFWTC selection.
Would this be similar to peerless bourbon? I am looking for a great bourbon that is similar to it.
Love Woodford Reserve D. O. So fruity figs and molasses idk its so much its almost rum like in the best way possible ... to this date my favorite whisky
I still wanna know how many AA tokens were smelted down for danials medallion
Love double oaked
Could you talk about the quintessential wall and what whiskies are on there and why?
Hey guys. Love your videos. I have a question, how come i cannot find a bottle that says just bourbon or just whiskey? I am new to this. Ive been a cognac fan most of my adult life. I do however like monkey shoulder, Woodford Reserve, Templeton Rye 4 year, Jameson, and Basil Haydens. Help a fan out!! lol
The double double oaked is crazy.
I think at the very least, we need a weather balloon at a high altitude with a small whiskey payload. This feels like a Modern Rogue/ Whiskey Tribe crossover to me!
It would be good to identify the different glasses. Maybe a colour ring, or a stiker, so it is easier for us to follow. Thanks
Semi-sweet or bitter chocolate is what you’re looking for I believe
You appear to have a lot of open bottles in the collection behind you in your video’s. Do you do anything to preserve them? Does an open whiskey bottle not go bad or change in flavor over time?
Lol. I had a hell of a time opening that too.
I am definitely a whiskey novice and have been trying to experience as many different whiskeys as possible. Would those little 50ml bottles be good to try different whiskeys cheaply? I've heard the neck pour isn't as good as the rest of the bottle, would the same hold true for the smaller "sample" bottles?
Also, as a side note. I tried a pour of Ardbeg at my local bar the other day as my first smoky scotch... is it blasphemous to say that all I smelled and tasted was "beggin strips" (those fake bacon dog treats)? My wife was definitely not a fan of my breath the rest of our night out...
I'm pretty sure a barrel of any liquid exposed to the vacuum of space would result in 100% evaporation of the contents. Even on ISS, the constant temperature would limit wood interaction, particularly with weightlessness potentially keeping the liquid from pressing against the inside of the barrel.
I was like "coco nips?" then I realized he meant cacao nibs lol.
5:40 - Feels like an acid trip. lol
Always feels like Woodford bottles are going to break. Got scared that Rex would spank it too hard.
Which Bourbon would you guys recommend if I really want to taste the barrel. Is there a bourbon that has a really strong taste of the barrel?
I recently tried the special edition Shackleton blend done by Richard Paterson. It's attempting to replicate whisky found on an old ship from Shackleton's Antarctic expedition. It's easy to get around here (central OK) but if it's not there I'll send you guys a bottle to (eventually) try.
Hear me out, You know the old fashioned Christmas candy in the tin where every type tastes the same but look different. I get that in the finish. Call me crazy but now I want that candy.
Have you guys done a show on the Woodford brandy barrel yet?
Editing on point.
The Double Oaked selection was Batch 2 which is aged in the second barrel 6-7 months.
Hey guys (whiskey vault) is there a bottle in your room you've had but have never tried?
I have a question that may seem kind of strange. Instead of an infinity bottle, I use a 3-gallon charred new oak barrel in which I only put bourbons. My question is if I can no longer consider the barrel's contents "bourbon" after adding the second brand (of Bourbon)? I'm going off of the technical definition of bourbon having to be in unused, new oak. Once I've used it to store one maker's bourbon and then add another...am I correct that now I've broken the chain and this simply becomes an unclassified spirit? Sorry, I know its a weird question, but this is what I think about at night. - Thanks, Tribal Chiefs!!
I want more scientific discussion of whiskey and space!
@1:21 you always need yor pocket knife when you forget it! ¿ 🤣
