You coat it with egg wash, flour and bread crumbs, then fry serve with ice cream as a dessert. I have tasted it before. Thanks for sharing ur experiment with us
Really nice experiment. I enjoyed the research. Although I would have suggested that you actually add a piece or two of plantain into the pan and fry them simultaneously with the banana's just to serve as a control or reference point for the experiment.
It is amazing. Good to know this. Thanks for the experiment, it is accepted
I have been frying banana for the past 6 years, it looks so nice as plantain, all u do is use not too ripe bananas. Also u might not need to add salt.
if u want to fry bananas.. make sure its half ripe.. and dip it in a rice flour batter .. in Malaysia this delicacy is known as Pisang Goreng which means fried bananas in Malay 🇲🇾
Indonesia u mean 😅. Also fried banana have in Gabon Africa as a carbohydrate for accompanying Ur chicken 😊. Put it on the flour and pour some salt sugar butter whatsoever. İt will be more crunchy and tasty
Its the gluten and starch in plantain that keeps it together. Nice experiement!!
I've tried it with unripe banana and it was delicious. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Winnie for sharing your experiment with us. It was interesting. You could try it again ensuring that you use bananas that are a little less ripe than what you used the first time. In addition, reduce the amount of oil you used to fry it considerably. So you could try putting about a 1/3 of the amt of oil you used initially
Your enthusiasm and attitude when you cook and talk is endearing 💕
I will do that. I had them years ago. They are good. Thank you!
A solution to the excessive soaking of oil will be airfrying them instead. Maybe add a drizzle of oil before tossing them in the airfryer.
Hello Folake hope all is well with you??
You've stepped posting for years now🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍
@@dorcasblossom I am very well, thank you Dorcas. I plan on getting back to it pretty soon. I appreciate this ❤️🌹
We fry banana in Indonesia. Lots of way to cook banana. But not all type banana can be fry cause it will absorb too much oil. Common food. 🥰 you guys will love it. The type of banana you use, we don't fry it. It's only to eat like that. 😁
Thanks for this! I will try with another specie of banana
Waaah... I got a reply from Winnie. Thank you. Btw, you can also soak the banana in rice flour mix with wheat flour, a bit of salt and fry it. Don't use only wheat flour. It absorb too much oil too.
Hello sissy, you are doing a great job
Please give us recipe for grilled potatoes 💕
@@mommy13867 Actually this type of banana can be fried by using less oil.
Our bananas here in north America are harder than the ones in Nigeria so I think this experiment will come out better. Will definitely try it!
I actually read something about plantain being a banana.
So it's a banana specie that can stand heat.
Also maybe bananas should be fried in shallow oil so they don't suck up too much oil. Like pan seared or just eat them raw :)
In China , we don’t have good local plantains as is it at home , so we fry sometimes unripe bananas , and it tastes nice 😅
Yes I always fry unripe bananas in China as well. Is super tasty. Sometimes I add little pepper to mine
Hello love. Nice time, don't add salt to ripe banana.
Like adding salt to sugar
Thanks dear, the experiment was nice, did fry one sometime ago..you motivate me to start my channel.
Well, I learnt a new word "caramelize" added to my vocabulary. Thanks for the experiment, I'll give it a try, I love very soft and mushy plantain 😍
You are welcome!❤️❤️
What does it mean
@@beckybexjadeite6324 it means overripe soft plantain
@@ifeomastella706 sorry no.
It means to turn brown.
The browning of carbs.
@@ifeomastella706 no it doesnt. It means to change to or look like caramel
It's indeed a good try. But I will suggest you make use of half riped banana, possibly that will work. Thumps 👆
In Tanzania,We actually fry banana before they ripe.they can be served well with roasted meat or salad.you should try that..
A big fan from Tanzania.
I have cooked unripe banana porridge before and it turned out great. Almost at great as cooking unripe plantain porridge
I love experimenting in the kitchen, I'm definitely gonna try dis....oh nd by the way, u look beautiful as usual
I loved this video. I live in South Africa and I can attest to the fact that indeed, Plantains are gold here. Will definitely give this a try. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Bukola. I live in South Africa too where plantain is gold. I did not like the result I got the first time I fried a banana. It was very soggy. If you would want to fry a banana, you should buy the green ones from fruits and veg and allow them to ripen like you would for a plantain. This type is less soggy than the normal banana when fried
@@damilolafolley2179 Thanks so much for the tip. I will do that.
@@damilolafolley2179 thanks for the tip. I will do that 👍🏽
Winnie, thanks for sharing this experiment. I recently shared a banana pancake recipe on my channel and it is so delicious, my children loved it so much. Meanwhile, i love your attire, you look gorgeous😍
Thank you so much!!❤️❤️❤️
What's the name of your channel plsss
It will come out good and the taste will be great too.
I actually did fry banana as a child. The very first thing I learnt to do in the kitchen was fry plantain because I really loved them, then I decided to see how it would be to fry bananas. I got a good scolding from my mum, never tried it again . lol
Same here, curiosity drove me to fry banana as a child, it was ripe bananas, it didn't come out right 😂
It seemed to absorb plenty oil and it didn't have a solid taste like plantain does, i hated it. Since then, i never tried again. Maybe I'll try once again this time with unripe bananas.
@@chammychamchas it's best to use less oil and sauteed them
@@ms.k3837 Yeah i actually did and it came out almost as good as plantain. And yeah i also discovered that too much of the oil can make it too oily so i used less oil the second time i tried and it came out even better than the first try. Thanks for the tip though.
@@chammychamchas Oh ok, that's great! You're welcome 💕
Fried banana are actually nice I tried them few days ago here in Ethiopia there is no plantain so I substitute them with banana .
It'll come out nice if it's not too ripe and the oil is hot enough, I'll try it with ripe banana even though I've tried it with unripe one. Thanks for experimenting Winnie, I'm your no 1 fan
Yeah in Asia actually they fry banana and it is very good. Though the specie of banana used for it is totally different from the one in our African countries
Where I am I sometimes cook banana and beans together as plantain is so expensive. And it always come out delicious.
I loved watching you try out the banana frying. Your looks remind of my secondary school classmate Mimi is her name, she was such an exciting personality.
I tried it once ,using groundnut oil and palm oil. I preferred the ones I fried in palm oil(not bleached),it tasted nice.
I know its gonna taste like plantain, but softer and sweeter.
Maybe unripe plantain might taste much more closer to plantain.
You look good on your outfit
Thank you!!❤️❤️❤️
I love the fried ones🔥🔥
Since the bananas soaked a lot of oil, may be one can use less oil to fry it. I do enjoy your vidoes. Keep it up 👍🏾. I have tried frying the unriped ones & they came out like plantain chips.
I'm in South Africa I remember trying this recipe 😂 it actually worked, you use a lot of oil ❤️
I've fried bananas with onions before and it gave me the plantain taste.
It was in bite sizes though.
Just try frying it with a little oil next time, don’t deep fry it would come out nice. You would love it
This reminds me when i was in secondary school ,i came back home very hungry and i saw banana at home and l decided to fry it but it soacked oil but taste very sweet
This is great
I will try it.
It tastes nice Really Really. Nice u can even blend blend it rap it with ugu leave, green or any vegetable of your choice jus like how calaber prepare blended yam, u can also prepare it like ur plantain pota to archive this, it has to be black banner. unripe.. Try it, it's really really NICE.
I'll really love to try this out
In my country Sierra Leone 🇸🇱 we fry banana, we call it bananacake so delicious, cut the bananas ,add Maggie, grind pepper and mix then fry .
Hi sis. I actually watched a video where banana was caramelized and added to ice cream. It was done with some sort of kitchen torch or lighter that brings out fire. The fire was just placed directly on the sugar coated banana and it turned brown .
I think it actually came out good
❤️❤️❤️
It takes a long time to get brown I enjoy watching your experiments
Bananas Foster. Butter, brown sugar and fry. Serve with vanilla ice cream. Yum!
Of course it will come out well
Hi Big Sis thanks you so much for sharing Thank
Thanks for this video.
I was craving fried plantain bt not possible get some soon, then I wondered if I could fry bananas 😅
I checked to know if someone has tried it n then I saw this video.
Unlike yours, mine was firm just like plantain and didn't soak up oil, so i guess the specie of banana plays a role. It was tasty too❤
In my country Malawi we fry unripe bananas and its yummy. And in Uk some restaurants they fry ripe bananas.
This is really yummy I have ever had this
Thanks for the nice experiment
We sliced the banana long as it it but flat like 2 or 3 from 1 banana, then a very little oil, just a drop, put d banana in allow it toast a little. We used peanut butter on our bread and added the banana. Children sandwich ready.
You can fry a banana but not on it’s own you have make batter with yeast and white flour with sugar like mandazis but runny we do that here in Tanzania
We have banana fritters... And I have been eating those since I was a toddler.
Thanks for sharing with us
I live in South Africa now and I certainly miss access to cheap plantains. It’s now what I buy once a month. When I have a plantain craving, I kill it fast🌚
Plantain is really expensive in south.. Eish
Tried this long ago. Still prefer normal plantain. Have you tried toasting it or using it as the only sandwich filling in bread?🌚
Liked it ❤️❤️❤️❤️
It going to be really soft
I just eat them raw with jollof rice and it tastes good trust me😊
Zee this is exactly what I just thought about few minutes ago
Like you just read my mind
Lol.... ive always wondered how it will look like ... thanks for experimenting on our behalf
You are welcome!!❤️❤️❤️
I've done fried bananas cut or just sliced in 2 both green & turn that's just before they ripened.
Yes they usually roast or barbecue the banana. I put bananas in the air fryer. Or just use less oil and it comes out really good.
Fried bananas is a popular street food in the South East Asia. The bananas is fried with batter coating.
we call it plantains in our place its delicious
Yes it's just like plantain, it will be a bit soft that's all, takes time to fry, we fry to eat curry together with peanut ,pineapple and pawpaw
It has little or no starch like the plantain to hold it together in the oil like the plantain.
In Sierra Leone we cut it into bits and fry it using flour, sugar,a pinch of salt and cayenne pepper
Note:for it to be crunchy we mix d ripe banana with Unripe banana
You look bueatful... Thanks for sharing I'll definitely try it
There is one type of banana that you can fry, that type that's mostly eaten by diabetic patient is another option
Though full of natural sugars they look too soft for my liking. I will buy the unriped ones or partly riped one. I like then crunchy like what they call "ipekere" in Yoruba language in Nigeria.
We can’t find any plantains in Turkey as well. So whenever I miss my plantains I fry some bananas which is a pain to do😀
Same with me
You can find Plantains in Turkey at the African Market.
hi. Thanks for the video. Have you ever tried roasting bananas in the oven?
I agree we rarely eat plantains here in SA that why we mostly fry normal bananas
Maybe frying in an air fryer would make a difference.
Yes it came out so nice or fry it in shallow oil
Yes, I just mentioned that because thats what i do. Also, just less oil too.
I fry bananas and plantains for a living. I have videos on my channel. I use mostly green plantains and bananas because I make and sell chips.
Never tried this before, have no idea what the outcome will be, but I think another good thing will be to cut them in really small sizes and make chips, just sounds like a good Idea to me
I'm sighting our apron
Untried donkey years ago, without salting. It was just like frying overly ripe plantain...so it's very sweet and very soft. That's all I experienced.
Aunty that alot for time try to make this out u are the best
I like your polka dot shirt and apron combo👌
Nice video, I think there's a banana variety that can be fried
Really?? Any idea on the name?
@@ZeeliciousFoods don't really know the name but it's the chubby and short bananas
@Zeelicious Foods
I think it is bomubomu(i don't know the English)
Yes it's called Agbagba (in yoruba language) in Nigeria.
Try the experiment again with raw bananas u will love it...
It will come out well
I've eaten banana chips (salted). It tasted like our unripe plantain chips in Nigeria but I've never tried frying banana. Thanks for the experiment
Great
Winnie you made what Americans call banana chips, but I totally love plaintains!
Hi pls do you have any recipes for cold soup (soups used in treating colds) using chicken
One thing i observed in adding salt to plantain is it soften the plantain quickly.
So i don't add salt to my plantain.
So been banana the salt would soften it really quick, worse it's predicament.😂
I do fry banana but no salt added
I fry bananas for breakfast ❤️❤️ it's so delicious
Your bananas came out actually looking like plantains😁 nice looking like the vert ripe plantain I prefer
I am always surprised when l hear produce like plantain, cocoa, cocoyam etc can not grow in some African countries. West Africa is so bless it beyond a joke yet blessed with clueless leadership. We should be selling countries like South Africa and others the health benefits of plantain, cocoa, cocoyam etc with a view of selling them these products in different forms.l bet you can't even grow sweetcorn, ube, coconut, Avocado in that south Africa.😂 So sell them coconut, coconut flakes, coconut sugar and some avacados. 😂 🙏🙏
You are right, our climate does not accomodate those types of harvests. Although our economy does thrive off Avocado which grows in the Eastern and Northern parts of the country. And a whole lot of other things.
Maybe it before the are ripe that it work better and in air fryer
Try frying it with less oil. It will carmelize or brown better. Then add brown sugar/ white sugar and cinnamon after cooking.
Winnie's personality tho. Gold.❤️
They belongs to the same family
Family: Musaceae
Banana: Musa sapientum
Plantain: Musa paradisiaca
If u coated it in egg n bread crumbs, it shud be a bit firmer
I always wondered about that too, but then I remembered they are called banana chips (like potato chips) in the United States..but I loved your experiment. It was fun!😊
Dear winne, can you please share a video on what to eat to gain weight?
