Mario can complete this stage because of add-on mechanics (Chuckster and rocket nozzle), which grant him bursts of long lateral and vertical aerial motion enough to clear pretty much any type of video game level. And Chuckster is a universally hated mechanic. Yeah Sunshine is a great game (unfinished, but the actual core system and graphics are incredible). No, it's not because Chucksters and the rocket nozzle exist.
@@howard_blast I mean... Unless there's invisible walls or something stopping him, mario easily could've just skipped the entire level and went straight to the end by swimming. Once water is no longer a death pit the level becomes a lot less intimidating, lol
Personally I think it's inferior to the original version despite the updated visuals and added content such as a multiplayer battle mode. Unfortunately the game got way buggier to the point where Mario becomes uncontrollable at several points. That and on a much lighter note the random Toadette cameo added in may seem cool but it's so unnecessarily and jarringly randomly out of nowhere and goes nowhere too to the point where it just feels like an insulting waste of potential and tease. She looks super rough and weird too.

I assume going into the deep blue water is a death plane, and it is already making me nervous just looking at it. I just love it. Imagine Big's Emerald Coast being a perfect Red Coin stage too.

SMS moveset with linear level design already went hard. This goes even harder. I now want an SMS hack but it's all Sonic Adventure levels in rapid succession. That will be peak gaming and playing the full hack is the only thing that could (potentially) convince me otherwise. Even Treasure Hunt Levels sound like they could go hard with this kind of moveset.
Lol, with the Mario Eclipse changes that remove the start-up charge time (maybe Sunburn did this too I don't remember) the Turbo Nozzle literally is just the Boost almost exactly like in Sonic's games.
If Sonic Adventure came out after Mario Sunshine, people would accuse it of immitating Mario Sunshine's beach setting, just like they said Sonic Colors was an immitation of Mario Galaxy, even tho Sonic Adventure 2 had that whole small planets concept with their own gravitational center way before Mario Galaxy was even in development lol
Mario struggling to scale a typical course sonic could do in mere minutes speaks volumes to the absolutely different platforming philosophies that drove Yuji Naka's idea of platforming vs Miyamoto's idea of platforming (im not tryna start a war, i love love love both of these games, im just saying these 2 guys think REALLLY differently)
