I can't believe all 4 of these golden girls are gone... we're never gonna forget them.
I'm not ashamed to admit that that fact hurts a lot. RIP Estelle Getty (July 25, 1923 - July 22, 2008), Bea Arthur (May 13, 1922 - April 25, 2009), Rue McClanahan (February 21, 1934 - June 3, 2010), and Betty White (January 17, 1922 - December 31, 2021). You will all be missed.
The first 3 passed away back to back. The last Golden girl lived longer and just recently passed at 99yrs old. She's finally joined them. They are surely missed.

That scene where the sweet old lady asks Sophia if there are any flowers for her today always breaks my heart when she turns away so distressed when Sophia says no. What a beautiful response to give her all the flowers and balloons.

I loved the episode where we see a softer side to Sophia as she volunteers as a nurse, and bringing cheer to the patients, especially a little boy implied to be suffering from AIDS. Contrary to what the other girls feared, she was certainly not living an empty life.
considering the actual AIDS episode, I doubt the boy had it

"The Days and Nights of Sophia Petrillo" (when she volunteers at the hospital) aired in October 1988; "72 Hours" (where Rose awaits her test results) aired in February 1990. By then, the topic of HIV/AIDS was becoming more common in movies/TV whereas it had been taboo not too long before.
Yes that was her most memorable performance. It’s just odd that if the little boy had that transfusion, and she was so compassionate, why did she freak out when Rose had her scare in a later(?) episode? Was she just putting up a brave front and being a tad hypocritical?
I loved Estelle Getty, but they made her character pretty prejudiced and kind of a prick on the show. That’s why this and the Alzheimer’s episode was so memorably a departure from norm.

@@Alusnovalotus aids is a fluid borne and transmittable disease. Before many people knew what HIV and AIDS was, many donated blood without realising they were infected or had transfusions from infected people. My grandfather had to have a transfusion late in his life and contracted AIDS that way

Me too! Although I LOVE all four I hope to be like Blanche, always busy, has a huge social life etc. I’m naturally like Dorothy, shy and reclusive. But I hope when i get older, to come out of my shell sort to speak....
@@Mr.EmeraldTheGreen Aw me too, I really like being around my friends but I tend to exclude myself a lot because of anxiety. I used to be the life of the party but now I'd rather stay in lol Hopefully I'll get back out there one day.

@@Mr.EmeraldTheGreen I think that's why I spent so many years making online friends. It was the best of both worlds. Never having to actually put myself out their but always having someone to talk to. Backfires sometimes though. 😔

9:45 this absolutely shattered my heart. Sophia may have given it to her to do the work for her but she still made a woman very happy
When I was 19, I applied to work at a care home with big ideas to make old people happy… they won.
I watch this every night!! I watched it back then and I will continue to watch it!! Such a funny, raw, emotional, fun loving show. They dont make them like this anymore! RIP golden girls! You are ALL loved forever ❤❤

the rest of them had day jobs tbf. At their ages they were working regular hours.
Sophia saying maybe we can make those decisions together was adorable.
Sophia didn't too much like showing her softer side, but she doesn't fool me, she's sweet as pie!! That lady looking for flowers to be sent, she said no at first and then she realized it may have hurt the lady's feelings so she gave her the whole bunch, now that's sweet!
Oh how I still love that show! I pray they never stop playing it.

The Golden Girls are my favorite! I watch them every weekend when I can and I sing the theme song feel better and wiser. I feel less stressed or depressed and as well I don't have all kinds of seizures. What a relief! I love that show so much!

For example, Philomena (her friend who claimed that Dorothy was her daughter in Season 4's "Foreign Exchange") was played by Nan Martin (who also played Frieda Claxton, that cranky neighbor who wanted the tree cut down in Season 2's "It's a Miserable Life"). And Mr. Ha Ha (that clown who hosts birthday parties at Mr. Ha Ha's Hog Dog Hacienda in a flashback from Season 2's "A Piece of Cake") was played by Alan Blumenfeld (who also played Lou, the plumber from Season 1's "Second Motherhood"). Just to name a couple of examples.

I love how much Dorothy worries and cares for her Ma she is lucky to have such a loving supportive daughter their relationship is so cute im going thru this now with my mum almost 98 im with her day and night and worry myself sick about her each day bc they r so fragile and become more precious bc we know time is running out literally before our eyes and you cant get a do over there is no coming back. God bless the GG they still make me laugh bring endless joy they are TV icons 💜

Yeah. Scott Menville’s done a lot voice roles for cartoons in the 80’s and 90’s before breaking out as Robin on TT. He’s also done some guest appearances as a young character actor in some TV shows like Kimmy’s boyfriend on Full House.
