- Piezoelectricity will be the next wave in sustainable with applications that will change the way we charge our world. Ryan is currently a student at Eaglebrook School. His passion for engineering stems from his parents work in carbon fiber manufacturing. He has a passion for design and innovation, and is always thinking outside the box. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
We wrote a research paper about piezoelectric and what would be the effect if we integrated it in a vertical farm. In Manila Philippines, heavy traffic is a common problem. Millions of vehicles everyday, so we tried to place piezo generators on roads, which produce electricity to provide energy for the production of our vertical farm. The farm produce fresh vegetables within the city, which means access to healthier and cheaper vegetables. Our main slogan that time was ''A Problem can solve another Problem''. We received the best in architectural thesis award.

That's interesting!. I would like to read more on this but I'm unable to find your research paper
Hello can i see your research paper? I'm doing literature review on this at the moment.
Now this is the clever engineering I love.
Those are some great ideas and I constantly think of ways piezoelectricity can be use .tho the video is two years old. I'm glad to it was here
This comment is two years old now...
Piezoelectricity is the future!

when you build a road, line the whole bottom with piezo electric crystals. the 30 ton 18 wheelers driving over them will generate enough electicity to power the entire city. at the same time the crystals themselves would absorb the shock and prevent structural deformity of the aslphalt and preserve the integrity of the roads
good way to increase vehicule consumption. Where do you think this energy come from ?
Why are you not trying to it
how would that affect the planet by obtaining all of those crystals, once existing naturally in the earth? I'm reminded of the crude oil issues..
it's not the substances we consume, but rather HOW and how much we consume. figuring out an effective means to use anything has always proved to increase the demand, which goes until we worry about depletion and undesired after affects.
Bottom line, until we consume responsibly (which gets convoluted by the endless search for the "best" energy) we will always have an energy crisis.

@@edgelord6560 wtf people already drive all day every day and night all over the world don't be an edge lord
how many countries around the world will be able to do this?
what's the energy output compared to other resources?
how would it affect the planet by resourcing these materials for worldwide use?
I have a doubt , when you apply electricity in piezoelectric it get vibrates, so seeing upon this there may chances to vibrate the road when someone apply electricity to piezoelectric roads or tiles . It may lead to heavy dangerous
iam too interested in this, but i dont have support ,and now i am working on it
How is your research going?

2020 and still no mass produced piezoelectric sneakers? Such an underrated technology. Imagine all the energy not being produced right now when you go for a walk, not to mention jogging.
Not to mention JO!!!
I was thinking the same thing! Just add a powerbank and you're good to go! Imagine all the steps people take, wasted energy converted to heat. Heh, Wake up Neo!
This because a decent prototype should be made with a good output and durability - no one want's to sponsor it coz it could be unprofitable as no deep research was made and there no convincing results. It really resembles graphene - it is superior on a paper but has no usage at all as no one can produce or utilize it
we are wasting so much time why is this not intergrated tin everything by now, we could achieve so much in the future, i really do think this is our gateway to do a lot of incredible things, THE FUTURE indeed!
ohh yes, the suspension of vehicules. think big you can do it! tires and more..thank you for reminding us. we do must focus on this. it is the return on every energy we include.
great little talk
The world is in a deep sleep... If this is known and works so simply people should be rioting in the streets of their home-towns for this to be implemented.

When I was 7 I knew about peizo electricity I found it pretty interesting so I made a model of road with peizo when I was 12 and I m now 30 I just forgot about that but this recommendation remind me about that
I need people like you to help me Iluse this technology. I'm trying to start a company that will utilize this heavily but need much counsel.
What interesting ideas! Hi from South America, Ryan!
I support you who developed it
Hi Ryan, if there will be a privilege to have a talk on a project on piezoelectricity. Reply with your preferred social media link and we can make things happen. Thanks for choosing this path Ryan.
Yusuf Olatoye can i be invited
@@softb ,yes you can but then the team will need a review of you.
Yusuf Olatoye ok im down for it
Assalam and Hi. Can you email me so that we can discuss further about piezoelectric material. I`m working on potassium sodium niobate in form of bulk ceramic as piezoelectric material.
I also have good ideas, I go very often to the bathroom I'm planing to put piezoceramic device when I flush the toilet... that can generate a good source of electricity at home.
how often you flush? 3 times a day? i dont think that will generate enough electricity. Roads or Railways would be way more efficient.
🔥🔥🔥
I proud that I intentionally c as me to view this video.. more validity that I’m on the right path.
why do bikes have pedals?
we can use piezoelectric devices under the roads, rail tracks. more traffic, more electricity
@DEMIxox64CHAN current is slow or ar less voltage??
The world doesn't know this. Buti nalang tungkol dito research namin ahahaha
Atlantis is back😎 and piezoelectricity is produced in your body by the pineal gland
Will puttin crystals at the bottom of the ocean be enough pressure? Just brainstormin here
as far as i understand the pressure has to be lifted again to produce a charge so it would not work
✌✌
Nothing new mate, no stats, no specs, just a speech about an abstract concept with you having little to no knowledge about it. Not worth being posted on Tedx Talks channel. Piezo generators have been there for a long time.
It appears you've completely missed the point, in that it was to inspire creativity and forward momentum. Yes, it's been around, though, how often do you see piezo walk ways? Totally feasible IMO. What's your big idea then?
Not agree, He delivered the knowledge by his versions. instead the theory is on the screen not Soo obvious. Repeating the knowledge several times is not a crime..some people already know about it, some people just know about it. Think about the young generations, maybe they will do what we discussed today and work on today.
Nothing new have been said - all of this ideas were proposed long ago, none of them made in real life.
