I have negative switch highbeam. I want the lil light on switch to light up when switch is turned on. Lightbar ONLY allowed on when highbeam on. I dont know how to wire illuminated 3 pin rocker switch in with it though. 30 is inline fuse battery 86 is power from 30 85 is scotched/spliced HB wire before the car headlight switch (which negative switched highbeams) 87 is lightbar. You put 2 point on/off rocker switch between scotched HB relay wire and 85 on relay. I dont know how to do it for 3 prong illuminated rocker switch though. Can you answer that question? pls n ty.

Awesome! Is it okay if the wires are directly connected to the battery with the switchlight up 24/7? Any negative effect on battery or is it okay? Thank you
Really well explained. Only question is what lumens was the light, and what would be a recommendation lumens? Iess more, or is it better to get the highest you can afford and your car's general wiring can hand? I want to put a LED light bar on, seeing that I drive a lot at night and even with the Osron night breakers, its not really the best for the darkness, so any recommendations? And is it better of a high beam LED or just a normal one? If the question make sense?
Hi mate thanks for the video, I'm wiring a light bar to the golf cart, however, its headlight highbeamless (if that's a word), how can I get around this?
Thanks for the video. I bought a light some time ago but was going to wire it without a relay directly to a heavy-duty switch or fuse with a switch. I want to be able to switch it on without any other lights.
Always run through a relay. If you are in Australia you need to run it through your highbeam anyway so may as well use a proper loom & then you know you won't have any issues
That cat always walks in while I'm filming. He doesn't give a shit lol. Usually while I'm filming a livestream he just jumps on my lap or even steals my seat 🤣
Hey thanks for the video mate. Very helpful. I just have a question... With pin 86 (vonnecting to the high beam, does it go to the sqith in the car first before coming to the relay? And where do i join the negative coming from the actual light bar? Your answer would be much appreciated..
Hi, Spent all day figuring this out on same model Kluger, with the essential help from your video.. Now where is a good point to piggy back the ignition power to the relay?
Either use an add-a-circuit in the fuse box which is the easiest way or find the wires on the right hand side leading to the windscreen wiper motors. One of those wires will have a 12v signal and shut off when you turn the key off
Brilliant, thanks so much. I used a female spade plug inside the bottom section of fuse box next to the battery.. weird things started happening like the power was still on after ignition was off. Even though my multimeter indicated no power on that terminal.
Hello brother. How did u do the kings tent ⛺️ with ur car ? Could you please let me know because I want to buy and put it in my car. Thanks 🙏 God bless ❤️
Mine was bolted directly through my canopy and around the internal support frame of my canopy. They provide everything you need to mount it except for roof racks
Is south Australia we can't mount a lightbar on the top of the bullbar, is mounting it on the top bar permitted if it's just a little lower than the top of the top bar? I don't understand why this law is in place, yet many cars are still having them on top. I was warned by the police and I took it off. Thanks for your content.
It's all about pedestrian safety if you hit someone. Bullbars have been designed to "slightly" reduce harm to someone if you hit them. There for you can't place anything in the path of someone who would be pushed up into the bonnet. You can use the same mounting holes & mount it upside down under the bar but not on top
By any chance do I need to have a bigger better battery to power them? Because I already have a subwoofer and I don’t know if the battery can withstand all the power being used
I have a light bar connected to my Kia 4x4. It has all of sudden stopped working. Disconnected and reconnected nothing happened.. car battery is fine all other electrics work well. Could it be the relay?
I just replied to your previous comment. Also if you have a test light test the plug that plugs into the lightbar to see if the lightbar is getting power. There should also be a fuse near the battery that could be blown. Follow the wiring from the relay to the battery and you'll find the fuse
I've never fitted one to a focus sorry. I'd start with the headlights and see if you have a positive signal from one of the wires only when the high beam is on. Then you have your signal wire from the headlights. The video should guide you through everything 👍
I'm looking at getting one of those universal mounting bars for my XV. How did you find it held up over time? I'm concerned it will rattle and vibrate and start to crack the plastic?
Hi man, the missus has the same car I’m looking to install some spot lights on, I’m wondering if the wiring harness as the kings one? The negative switching has me scratching my head ;)
Adventure king's actually have a video on RUclips explaining how to change the pins in their wiring harness for cars with negative switching. If you search it you should find it. They've made it pretty simple 👍
Question in this set up does the switch you installed allow you to turn off the use of the LED bar and sill use your high beams with out the led bar coming on? Sorry if the question seems basic i am just learning and getting my head around the possible setups. Thanks
Legally you have to have a spotlight / light bar running through both your high beam aswell as a separate switch. If you turn off the switch your high beam lights will function normally it's just the spot lights /light bar lights that won't turn on. You don't interfere with the high beam lights at all. All you do is pick up a signal from the high beam lights which triggers the relay turning on the light bar 👍
Excellent video and great channel. I note some people use an additional 4 point relay wired around the h4 adaptor. You just do it at switch wires or batter power ?
Yeah any wiring loom you buy will only come with 1 relay. It's designed to switch the power coming from the battery to the lights. The wire that only triggers the relay doesn't need another relay as the highbeam wire only becomes live when you activate highbeam 👍
@@Campingdownunder Thanks for that. It would be good if they made them pre wired for either or provided the instructions. All kits these days are for positive.
There are quite a few well known brands that make it pretty easy to swap just 1 wire on the loom to switch from positive to negative. The new lightforce loom even switches itself. It already knows if it's positive or negative. They are getting smarter with the looms 👍
EBay but you can get them from supercheap or any auto shop. Be aware that's the last option you'd go with for mounting though as you'll get vibration. Best way is to mount the light to a bullbar or nudge bar
Test the wires behind the headlight. If none of the wires light up with 12v when high beam is on then you have negative switching. If you aren't sure how to test I suggest contacting your nearest Toyota dealer who should be able to give you that information 👍
I've done another video explaining how a relay works. If your still confused then this is too advanced for you and I suggest getting a professional to install it. Wiring is something you don't want to get wrong as you can risk burning down your whole car
It's vital people understand it or it won't work if you have negative switching and you could cause major damage. If it's over your head I suggest paying a professional. You don't want to risk possibly burning down your car because it was too complicating
Good question mate 👍 unfortunately it can't be done that easily as the wiring for the highbeam is only designed to be thick enough for the load coming from the headlight. If you connect more lights directly to those thin wires you'll most likely melt them & possibly cause a fire. Hence why a wiring loom has nice thick wires on it to allow for the load of the lights. So we only pick up the trigger wire from the highbeam to the relay. A trigger only requires minimal load so doesn't affect the headlight at all
@@Campingdownunder ok bugger because i usea test light sounds silly but found Positive and negative of the wiring loom of the back of the head light and wacked a 30 amp fuse On positive and this is on a i30 2019 had many cars with the same set up but do you think the Dangerous Aka firetrap
@@user-teabager definitely not safe. The wiring you've added may be able to handle the load of a lightbar but the headlight wiring will still heat up before your fuse even blows. You may be lucky & get away with it but for peace of mind I'd much rather wire it up the correct way
