Ditto. For me, I’m sticking with it until it falls apart or a truly better and higher safety rated version comes up, especially given that they can be resoled. I have the rain one for winter riding. Works.
I wear size 9.5 shoes and I got size 8 (42 euro) smx 6 v3 airs and those fit perfect my feet are also a little wide and the size 9.5 44 euro smx 6 were way too large lol u just need to go and actually try them on at ur local pro shop
Do you think these offer slightly less protection compared to v2s because of the material changes and the ankle Protection being smaller? Trying to decide which ones I should get can’t believe this just came out today I just started looking at boots today haha
We flex the v2 and v3 next to each other and tested them out riding / walking around to see. We thought it would be less protective given the design update, but the flex-protection was about the same. So it seems like Astars figured out a way to accomplish a smaller design w/o sacrificing protection too much.
Meh, after owning the smxs, smx6, and smx6 drystar....spend the extra money and get the dainese torque 3 out boots. Trust me, they are even more comfortable with dual angle support. Yeah, walking around sucks, but that's true with all power ranger boots.
Got the V2's a year or two ago but don't use them much since I don't have pants that will go over them, and my calves are too big to stuff pants into and still zip them up.
Look at ADV pants they’re usually made to go over boots. I haven’t tried them but I’ve heard that Rocky Mountain ATV’s MSR line are almost on par with high end gear like Klim but a lot cheaper
Would you have the heels on the pegs for grip? I have the balls of my feet on there most of the time. I would assume even more so for sporty/track riding?
The SMX-1 line would be the short version of these, which does sacrifice the ankle protection but shares similar lower boot features. www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/alpinestars-smx-1-r-vented-v2-boots
Is there anyway to take off the ankle brace without damaging it? The little bolt that holds mine on is loose and I can hear it rattle every time I step. Was wondering if it was removable so I could take it off and fix it?
Where do people keep getting this "level 3" nonsense from? There is no level 3 safety rating for motorcycle boots. Nor is there a level 3 for limb armor. If you've bought any sketchy Chinese drop shipper trash off of a Social Media ad shop that advertised "level 3" anything, throw it out. It's not legitimate, and even if it has a proper CE label, it's probably counterfeit.
@@ReQuiem_2099 Most reputable manufactures have level ratings next or under the ce tag inside the boot or pants or packet. I think the v2 was 3 all around while the dainese Nexus boot was horrible at low rating iirc. Just peace of mind when buying gear to have a higher rating.
These are only CE Level 1 like the previous models. There is no CE Level 3, just the 1 and 2. But they are broken into 4 categories between the 4 tests the EU does on Boots. These meet CE 2 in each category but 1 (So CE 2,2,2,1 on their tags), but if you don't have all the categories at 2 you default to 1. So these are nearly CE Level 2, but because of the 1 test would be 1. CE Level 1 is the most common, with the MotoGP race grade boots usually hitting the CE 2 (but not always).
Complete garbage the zippers are so cheap they fall apart. Alpinestars r warranty dept. is shit. Stay away from these boots unlesss you like zippers to fall off and the boot becomes completely useless

Dang, my V2 are still like new, but these look amazing

Same im sticking with my v2. I love em. And id rather spend that money towards other gear.
@@MiguelRPD as in
Just bought this today. So far I love it
Did you go for a size down?
@ yes I went down a size and they fit perfectly
I just bought the smx plus v2
My v2 soles have started to wear out, looks like a good change, one of the most comfortable boots
Resoling is cheap and works well.
just bought smx 6 v2 a month ago and now v3 is out? damn
Im getting conflicting reports on sizing. Some say it fits, and many say they run large.
I wear size 9.5 shoes and I got size 8 (42 euro) smx 6 v3 airs and those fit perfect my feet are also a little wide and the size 9.5 44 euro smx 6 were way too large lol u just need to go and actually try them on at ur local pro shop
I wear 9 and got fitted with 8. It does run large.

Just check the ce rating.

Dagnabit, I just got my V2s like 3 weeks ago 🙃
Where can I find a link to this exact colour combo? Can’t seem to find the black and white
Looking for the same thing! I want the "more" white coloring
Found it... This white color way is the "vented" version only.

Are these a level below the super tech R?
2 levels below, they are street , super tech r is very stiff and not usable for street
@@kankit230i really disagree. i wear them for street use and there are absolutely fine
The SMX Plus v2 would be the boots between these and the Supertech boots.
Hey Revzilla, How are these on height? Do they give any extra lift for us short riders? Thanks 😁
I’m 5’5”, and there definitely a difference between having boots on and having riding shoes on.

i use V2's everyday, with revit sand4/tornado3/wave3 pants and these go over the boot very comfortably
Would you have the heels on the pegs for grip? I have the balls of my feet on there most of the time.
I would assume even more so for sporty/track riding?
When you’re using body position, it’s common for riders to lock their heels in, because that leg is the only thing keeping them on the bike.
Do the drystar version of these boots perform well in the cold?
With a solid pair of winter socks, yeah!
These look awesome. Where's the shorty version!?

It is not designed to be removed, however you might want to contact Alpinestars and see if they can warranty or repair it for you.
@@RevZilla thats what I was afraid of 😭 guess I’ll contact them. Thanks for the reply!
I just bought a pair of v2 a month ago. Hate when this happens. 😅
