- In this video, I review my 2007 CLK63 AMG A209 convertible, which I recently bought. It's one of the rarest modern AMGs and it has the legendary M156 V8 6.3 engine. I show how I dialed this car in with a few improvements over the last few weeks and show the exhaust sound.

AMG is unique sports car , sure M performance and RS from audi have their own flavor.... but there is something about mercedes old generation big v8s with their quality and prestige ...
life is greater when amgmeister uploads .
That car is literally ' as good as new '. Congrats.
One of the finest examples of the CLK63 out there, for sure. I prefer the single-sided exhaust because it has quite a unique tone compared to the cars with quad outlets. Great video, as always.
U dont post enough bro!!! We want more.
Exquisite video, description and sound.
Marvelous car.
As someone noted, any of your uploads makes our day!
Man that is a well kept car. It’s gorgeous
I love your attention to detail and keeping the car stock and looking as new as possible. This is my kind of restoration that I love.
Wisdom beyond your years.
Such a beauty. Oh goodness!! We gotta see more of this one. It is just perfect.
Excellent as ever. Interesting fact about only dual exhausts, new one for me!
You keep your cars very clean. These look so much better without a front plate - difficult to get away with that here in the UK.
Your videos contributed to me purchasing an S211 E55 AMG. 😎. Gradually bringing it up to mint.
Amazing car, thanks for sharing. I have an 07' CLK 550 which I love, so I can imagine how good this CLK63 must be.
Yo this car is sooo clean. congrats man hope it is still running strong
An absolutely beautiful unique car, congrats with the find
Great CLK !!!!!! Thank you for sharing.
Very nice video. Beautiful car
One of the rare 1119 units produced for the world in convertible version as far as I know !!!
Perfect car. I’m very jealous of how clean your example is.
you need a mid muffler delete that will make the car sounds better
Just awesome, nothing to add.
What a car! Love it 😍
Congratulations. Beautiful car indeed.
Superb vid. Great close attention to detail. I have a more humble AMG version but it's a beautiful good weather trip car. Still looks very handsome tome at least.
Exquisite. Well done
The master of AMG and 500E smashes it again
That transmission is amazing, great car overall❤
Transmission works like a dream
Beautiful CLK in such a great shape. I love my 2003 coupe with 89k miles and while slowly things brake and need to be repaired I have a hard time getting rid of it.
One of the best Mercedes cars 😍. I live in Bremen, where this car was build.
omg stunning
best of best of, as usual your cars ;)
As for the centre vent trim piece, I just wiped mine down with some rubbing alcohol and it looks good as new. If you still have the old one try it out so you have a replacement piece later when the new one does the same thing...
Beautiful car
Hello just wanted to say nice video and upgrades thanks for sharing the information. I was hoping to ask you where you got your Chrome stealth bulbs from? I'm looking to change those in my clk55 amg bi xenon headlights. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks 😊
Hi
I absolutely enjoy your knowledge and great insight when it comes to Mercedes Benz, more especially the m156 engine. I recently bought a clk63 cabriolet with 120k kilometers, with a very bad lifter noise i have ever heard. I have sourced some replacement parts from fcp euro. I have also come across the upgraded version of the m156, with the black tappet covers.
Will i experience any difficulties if I do an engine swap, what would you advise.
Thanking you in advance.
Roy..south Africa
Pls do a buyers guide or insight video on the SLK 55amg. Also if possible: the W126 line.
This car is just so pure. I love it. Way better thank my clk55 XD
So nice. I love it. I have a 2005 clk 200 convertible.
I had to watch it again. Such a good looking car. I love the color. Very nice🙂
So I also just recently bought a 27K mile 2007 clk63 - One of the lower mileage ones here in the US. After about 3 weeks of ownership, one of the hydraulic cylinders went out and was a total pain. I would highly recommend getting ahead of the issue and replacing all of them before they go out during operation. The Oregon company Top Hydraulics supplied rebuilt cylinders that have been working perfectly so far. The job can be DIY but took me about 18 hours, or a good majority of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The lifespan of the original cylinders is typically 15 to 20 years. One of the worst ones that can go out is the locking one behind the front glass which leaks fluid all over the headliner and interior. The total cost of rebuilt cylinders from Top Hydraulics was $2100, with a $900 rebate after sending back my cylinders.
Great car, but beware if not proactive on this issue. Please take it from my experience that it would be far better to do before you experience an issue. If you notice even a slight stutter in the roof operation just go ahead and replace it right then. I noticed one and the very next time I ran it the seal burst and the top was stuck for several weeks while getting it sorted out. For reference, I would describe my car as in excellent condition overall as well.
Great content. Keep up the good work!
The only missing options seems to be distronic (PROXIMITY-CONTROLLED CRUISE CONTROL), Theft alarm (INTERIOR SAFEGUARD) and Multi contour seats! (Also power operated trunk was an option but I dont know if this car has it or not) Also your car doesnt just have bi-xenon headlights, it has the adaptive bi-xenons!
grace and beautiful
I love this colour on your 63.
I have a black clk55 convertible, I love it! Next will be a 63!
Where did you get that air vent cover from?
Great video! What camera do you use?
What a car and what an example of that car. It’s so cool to see someone taking care of a car like this. Truly beautiful.
Btw, did you reapply ppf on the front again since you removed the old one?
No, I didn't add PPF again because its quite expensive to do and I don't drive the car much. I drive carefully with big gaps to cars in front as well.
Couldn’t agree more with the spacers I’ve always thought something was wrong with Mercedes rear wheels.
Nice Car
I assume you like how the exhaust sounds from all the sound clips… and I agree :-)
It would be very difficult to keep that car at posted speed limits when it is tempting you to open it up.
factory condition respect
Congrats-great choice! I am ownimg a 209 convertible with the M272 3.5l plus AMG package, already 325Tkm....still amazing. Enjoy the beast and contact me immediately if u want to sell it. Anyways, I have to return to Canada (Schreiber-Ontario) to visit my relatives. Cheers!
That amazing colour makes the car. A fantastic looking AMG. You said the PPF did a great job protecting the paint but didn't say if you replaced it or not.
I did not replace it. I just removed the old PPF because it was fading. I don't drive the car that much and I don't tailgate other drivers so I think the car will be just fine.
Nicely done. Beautiful color. My 08 currently shows 5286 miles on the clock. Build qty 2007=147 / 2008=100. Interestingly, I have a 2017 E400 4Matic also and the CLK63A is a much better driving car.
Dialed in to your liking is the key but good luck trying to keep the bottom of the fenders clean and not chipping the paint now that you've put the spacers on.
Hey I have a question for you, would you please mind checking the rear ride height on your CLK63 cabrio (Ground to wheel arch) please? I'm having trouble with mine and i'm not sure if mine is sagging and needs new springs or not. Very much appreciate it if possible!
It’s the small things that add up
Next up full bolt on motor with a cam
Beautiful car! Sounds wonderful too. I've done a muffler delete on my V8 Merc to release the throaty burble. I spent several months last year searching for a CLK63 Cab, and couldn't find a good example here in the UK. I really wanted that M156 V8 in a four seat soft top, or thought I did. Turns out what I really wanted was something like the Camaro SS I drove in CA in 2018. When I finally did drive a CLK63 I was a little disappointed by the lack of low end grunt, compared to Chevy's 6.2 V8. So in the end I went for an 2012 M278 powered E500 Cab. Not as free revving as the M156. But peak torque arrives at 2000rpm, not the 4000rpm of the M156. And that suits my lazy driving style.
Awesome!
The sound is pure eargasm. Do you not have the e55 anymore?
Still have the E55. Watch for the next video next Saturday.
Thought it had quad pipes...or has this been modded...?
My CLK63 US Spec came with a MB paper air intake filter as well as a charcoal California filter or evaporative filter as it were. Did yours come with that set up? I removed and replaced with K&N which really helped with the high RPM performance. I looked on the H&R site and did not see this car specifically. 1. What model did you use? 2. Do they make one for the front and did you consider that; too tight?
Yes, I have both those two air intake filters. The H&R spacers are part number 2055665 and the longer bolts are 1255002. I only wanted spacers for the rear because the front spacing is already fine in my opinion.
Mine share the paint color code for your car? The color really interesting.
What exhaust setup do you have?
wow
did you sell it?
Beautiful car! How do you find it compared to the E55?
*Yes you definitely got to answer this one* :D is the Clk63 notably more agile?
CLK63 definitely has better steering and braking. It is the more agile than the E55 for sure. The E55 has a much more comfortable ride quality and you notice the extra torque from the engine down low in the rev range.
Omg.
What colour?
Song starting at 0:14 ?
Nice car. A bit loud for my taste. I still like fast cars even at my age but don't like noise.
Did you Teflon coat it?
How often can you put the top down in Canada without having to wear a bear fur coat? Lol
In Vancouver the temperatures are on average 23 Celsius during the day in summer. I've had the top down almost every day since May. Winters are very mild here but I will still put the car in storage for winter.
@@AMGmeister That's almost funny when I think about it.
That's about 75°f. I figured it was to cold even in summer way up there.
Here in Las Vegas it is the opposite. We get well over 100 spring through fall and you would roast in an open top car. Lol
How quiet is the convertible, inside the car, with the top up compared to a coupe?
I really do love the color!
What about the engine defects? This is an older model.. head bolts, Cam lobes, Lifters and cam adjusters? Any issues??
No issues so far. It is an older model with this engine and head bolts can be an issue but it's such low milage that I will just keep an eye on that. Otherwise, cam lobe wear, lifter noise, and cam adjuster problems affect all years of this engine 2007-2015. Again I will keep an eye out for any problems but with such low milage I am not too worried about engine wear.
@@AMGmeister your content is great and thank you for replying!
Hello Vik1ng, well said. I found out that people with large amount of money take less care of cars than less money owners, finding the shortcuts?
Why you take off the film? Don't you get much stones flinging in Vancouver? My E63 has it too but I left it on because trucks fling rocks where I live.
My god what a noise
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💎😎🤙🏻
Why the exhaust gust in one side ? 🤔
Hi Amro, the best I can explain the CLK that I could have the quad exhaust; but, the body couldn't support due to the frame and chassis. Don't get me wrong, if you can get your hands on these cars, what a thrill!
Hi, what's the background music of this song? Thanks in advance
Back to the Future - MARION
@@MaNemUmar Thanks so much!
Anyway it still bothers me that it doesnt have quad exhausts
Why remove the paint protection film??
Probably because he's the one to put miles on it too. 😂 Meaning he's got his own definition of "taking care of it".
@@PerfectPotential he seems to be so meticulous in all other aspects of maintenance & care, so why f@#€ up the paint job!?
I just removed the old PPF because it was fading and scuffed up in some places. I don't drive the car that much and I don't tailgate other drivers so I think the car will be just fine. The roads are also reasonably clean in the Vancouver area.
Up for selling?

Mercedes Benz the best or nothing!
