Good advice. I’ve got 20+ years in the trucking industry. It’s not like it used to be. But, what hasn’t changed, is most “home daily” companies want some sort of experience. Especially if you want good pay. Just put a little time in and you’ll get that job you want. Stay safe.

When I was a little boy, my father was a truck mechanic. I remember from time to time he would have to take loads, mostly in Texas. He finally found a job where he didn't have to drive except when he had to go pick a truck up from somewhere. I got to ride with him a few times and I thought that was so exciting. When I got out of school I got into the electrical trade. My father hated it that I didn't get into working on trucks but I heard him say so many time that if I got into the trucking or mechanic business that he would beat me. Anyway he didn't like it that I didn't follow in his footsteps. Now its 50 years later and I think I'm going to try the trucking business. What do you think?

You'll make $700/week gross as a trainee. After that your oay depends on miles driven and the cpm your account pays.
I am literally a few days away from going home and I'll start making more videos explaining more stuff. Can't really record with your mentor.

So-cal really bad right now locally. You’d have to know someone super high up to start off locally here. Even the food/beverage jobs requiring 3-6 months. I bet people with years applying to those jobs too. Swift recruiter was 10/10 at communicating with me and helping me move everything forward. Just gotta get those 1st few years in

Swift is great company, when you see any truck driver they are representing their own skills , swift is just giving people's chances in the industry.

In your video you mention that you had put in like 30 applications to get hired at trucking companies but I thought from the website for Swift and I live also near Richmond Va that once you go thru classes you are automatically with a swift driver for at least a year so there is your 1 year experience.. so don’t understand that you had to search for jobs ???

My terminal is at Jurupa Valley CA, been working for swift for 5 months now. I told the recruiter that I was willing to put in the hard work so she put me in OTR reefer. I’m doing my best to get those 1k+ paychecks weekly but all I’m getting after taxes around 600-900dlls weekly🙁 as a hard working Mexican this is crappy pay

All mega carriers gonna pay around 50k a year or about 1k a week gross. Try to go with union job with the ports or doubles line haul pays more. OTR has trash pay because too many mega carriers killing each other and owners operators killing the rates. My gross is 1600-1700 net is 1200. Been through many mega carriers i can say they all pay trash so apply to new jobs now when you get in quit your current job.

Nice job. Be careful with teaming. I did not enjoy it with my mentor. Not because we didn't get along. We did great. But I get car sick when I'm not driving. And cooking and eating is very difficult because the roads may be very rough.
I'm working on a video now, should be out next week and I'll try and cover that topic for you.
