Turns out the only thing that can beat a Tesla Model S Plaid is… another Plaid. Whenever one comes on TvT, it mops up hero cars thanks to their instant torque, 3 electric motors and whatever other beep-boops Elon threw in. Then you can get MORE beep-boops put in like the Track Package, (which adds another set of variances) and… Pretty sure flying to Mars would be less complicated.

Seeing them side by side the whole way down, flat out, was surprisingly entertaining. I've never seen anything like that.
They're family sized production cars which is insane by itself. My neighbor owns one. He basically teleports from home to work with inside that thing.
You guys should consider using a Model S Plaid as a camera car. Imagine how sick the rolling shots would be at those speeds.

Or if they converted a car using a Telsa electric system for the purpose of being a camera car, possibly something with a rear door instead of a trunk lid for a camera operator at the rear or a minivan to have a side camera operator.

Would love to see Automatic versus Manual to show just how insane modern automatics are. BMW DCT versus manual for example.

sequential vs automatic would be the better comparison because too many people think the only manual is a traditional h pattern and a clutch pedal to push down every shift when you say manual. Xtrac vs DCT would be a good race. Unless you do a normal automatic.

@@MrImpalaRiderI really should get a dragy… but for the full runway was almost touching 160 and the surface was kinda shite that day. Distance from start to finish was just under ~1500
Fun fact both of these cars have the exact same wrap, but one is black the other white.
@@MrImpalaRider these run around 120 MPH to 660 ft , 152 to 1320 and 184 to 2640 with the track package the regular one tops at 174 before the half mile. Both accelerate the same as the track package don’t add any power.
True no additional power, but reduced rotational mass over stock, in this case, however, neither car had stock brakes

I liked this race. It's always Tesla vs something else, but never Tesla on Tesla. Very nice being able to see what the various options actually do when used in anger. Chill mode is clearly "someone in here is asleep and we mean to keep it that way" mode.
This vs This with different option packages on the car - auto vs manual, sport vs track, etc. would be really cool to see. Every formal test is the base model or the tricked out version, so you can't really tell what your money gets or doesn't get you.
Bravo to the editors. Wasn't expecting the Jetson's car noise.

The sound effects are amazing 😂 Really makes up for the lack of rumble
So as I understand, the Track Package is an add-on option that is meant to make the Model S perform better on a *race track*...which is different from a drag strip. The Track Package includes different wheels and tires, ceramic brakes, and removes the top speed limiter (Plaids are limited to around 165mph)
All the Plaid Model S comes with a drag strip mode, the software will heat up the battery to maximize output (its called 'Peak Performance Ready) and the car will lower the suspension into 'cheetah stance' just before launch for optimal take-off from the dig.
The factors that make the biggest difference at the dragstrip are better tires and weight savings, like lightweight wheels and removing parts of the interior.

Yeah, this is a good understanding. But also as part of the trackpack, the rotational mass is significantly less and the wheel and tire package is also much lighter. However, my car was running HRE 104 is not the trackpack wheels.
The stock brakes are not only ineffective. They’re also stupid, heavy, but gains are meant for a road course for sure we just had The suspension completely redone from unplugged performance, and the car out buttonwillow two weekend ago
@@vidvak6411 I highly doubt anything like that would help the plaid. The only limitations are grip and weight honestly the motors have more to give and the traction control algo is as good as it gets from Tesla. Since this shoot my car has also had full race suspension upgrades but my build is more focused on the canyons and road courses not drag racing.

Chill mode is for when your stomach hurts and your on your way to urgent care. It gives you some wiggle room to flinch in agonizing pain without full sending into a wall.😂😅 not that I've experienced this or anything! 😂

I've been trying to make up my mind whether to get an EV or another diesel for my next daily. I actually want an everyday EV, but it's finding one with the features I want, so I might just get a newer version of the Golf diesel I already have for now, but damn, if any of them made TIE fighter noises... I'd be straight in there.

@@ttamcc.4674 yes you are right. Even 10 year old Dodge Viper ACR with only 600hp beat Rimac Navera on the Nurburgring. I'm fully aware of that. But let's not forget that it's just a beginning for EVs. Give it another 2 or 3 decades and let's see what that will give us. Even now there is next gen battery technology that will soon hit the roads which is twice more energy dense and twice as light. Meaning the same range for half the weight. And EV with the weight of a sports car and proper aero would be unstoppable.
