I listen to you first thing every morning for my daily dose of inspiration. I enjoy implementing what you advise. Its so fun and delicious! Im having 2 poached eggs on homemade whole grain avacado toast with salad vegetables like romaine lettuce, tomatoes, red onion and bell pepper with an added splash of olive oil and balsamic vinegar and a sprinkle of nutritional yeast. Thats my healthy trifecta for the morning.

I usually start my day well, but then it goes downhill from there. I’m working on it.

Love your channel! Can you please discuss how to follow the Mediterranean Diet if you have IBS. Fiber seems to be my enemy, especially whole-grain bread, beans, gassy veggies and lentils. Love your cooking demos! Thank you.

Great question! IBS is tricky, since two different people with IBS can be triggered by completely different foods. It’s so important to individualize the diet to the foods that can be tolerated. This would be a good thing to speak to your own doctor about, but I can certainly discuss it in future videos

My day starts off nutritious and then the guilt happens. I work in a restaurant and my schedule changes a lot or I don’t eat when I’m supposed to and I grab anything because I’m starving by that time. Now I try to keep a small bag of nuts close by instead of grabbing a french fry or something else that’s just as bad to fill the hole. The struggle is real but the benefits are worth it. On my days off I stick with the process. 😊

Your talks are so interesting to me. Facts are what I need to make decisions. I have a question about the issue of juice. Taken all by itself, just a glass of orange juice for example, okay I can see where that would cause a spike. BUT what if that juice doesn't exist in isolation. What if I had it along with some peanut butter on a slice of Dave's Killer bread (Powerseed is my favorite) One slice has 5 grams of fiber. Wouldn't that along with the juice make this a totally different thing?

This comment makes me SO happy. You nailed it, that’s exactly the point!! This is the nuance to the juice discussion. And quite honestly, it highlights the nuance to most discussions about food and nutrition! Our bodies handle the complexity of mixed meals. Thus, considering foods in isolation of one another is not appropriately considering how they work for our bodies given that we often do eat mixed meals. Yet, some extracted foods like orange juice which has the fiber removed will definitely spike one’s blood sugar more than if the whole orange was eaten.

I’ve been enjoying a breakfast of old fashioned oats with a couple Tbsp of a flax, chia, hemp mix added in, along with chopped up apple and some apple pie spice seasoning. I try to bump up the protein a bit more by either drinking a protein shake or having a higher protein Greek yogurt. Besides eggs, does anyone have more protein suggestions I could add in to change things up a bit? I tend to rely on dairy sources for protein with breakfast. I’m not a fish eater so that makes it a little tougher.

thanks for sharing! I totally hear you on some of the questions about protein sources. Honestly, if fish is a no-go, you could introduce legumes into your breakfast. If beans are difficult to digest, why not try some meat? There are no rules with what you need to eat when.

I have to admit I expected you to tell me that my eating bacon and eggs in the morning was a mistake. Sure everyone knows that bacon is not good for you... but it's bacon! ;-) Kidding aside I like your more general approach. So really I am not doing as terrible as I think. I never eat sugary foods. Okay almost never. I don't eat processed.... hmm is bacon or sausage considered ultra processed foods? I don't think so. And I usually have a slice of whole grain bread with breakfast. I usually grab a piece of fruit in the morning too, a banana or a peach or an apple. I guess I could be doing worse!

Sounds like there’s a lot of great whole foods there! Eating the really heavy animal meats can certainly add up, but you’re right, could be worse

Fruit juice is sweet bc it's nature's way of rewarding us for eating our fibre, that's why I prefer not to drink fruit juice, but to instead, eat the fruit.

As I mention in the video, croissants are one of my favorite things too. I truly believe that any food can have its place, but given that croissants are so rich in butter and refined ingredients like white sugar and flour, I wouldn’t put it as a staple for a daily breakfast - it’s a delicious treat! Hope that makes sense
