In your video here you are replacing the top and bottom "air inlet trim finisher" parts. I want to ALSO replace the plastic chrome grill with an OEM black grill on my 2013 R56 mini. Do you have the part number for the black Grill, and is it easy to replace?
@@SimpleCarGuyI don’t want to blackout I want to install the upper and lower chrome trim. Where can I get those and need screws and retainers if it doesn’t come with it. 2011 Mini Cooper Base.
Thank you! I just installed mine today, and only take a few minute with the help of your video. I first tried an after market trim but the holes didn't line up and so ordered the genuine mini trim and fit perfectly.
After watching this, it took me just 10 mins to replace my own trim. I noticed it flapping one day on the road that the clips had started to break off. The part was $70 but the satisfaction was wayyy more than that. Thank you so much!!
Thanks for this. One of the clips broke when I took off the upper air inlet finisher, but I guess that can heppen when the part is 13 years old and has been subject to extreme temperatures! £53 for a replacement. Ouch.
I bought all aftermarket trim in matteblack, light trim, tail light trim, door handle covers, fuel cap cover, bumper trim all for $311 USD Well, $400 AUD which is roughly £200
I accidentally put the clips in first and now I’m having trouble removing the black clips to attach back onto the trim itself. They’re so hard to remove from my Mini. Any suggestions? I’m a girl and decided to do this before watching videos on RUclips
Sorry you ran into problems! If I understand correctly, you took the clips from the trim and attached them to the car first instead of the trim piece. What you can do to fix that is get a trim removal tool (link below) and that way you don’t break them when removing. If you want to risk it, you can use a flatbread (or 2) and try removing it that way. amzn.to/3czAAmD
Thanks for such a great video on how to replace the upper grill trim! Mine has been loose and finally fell off. I'm am going to order a replacement but notice that I only have 2 of those black screws still attached to the hood. The other 2 are gone or never were attached. Would you happen to know where I can find replacement screws?
I think you can use any screw that's similar, but if you need the exact part, I think this is the part number you are looking for: 41007135209 Thanks for watching!
Great video! Thank you. My grille trim snapped off today after hitting a pot hole that rattled the entire car. Would you mind sharing the link or company name where you bought the part?
Looks like the OEM ones aren't sold anymore, at least not where I can easily find them for decent price. There is this aftermarket grill that looks decent, but still expensive: amzn.to/2YWLKOk
Gotta go all in i guess otherwise it looks gay to me. Gotta do headlights too. Luckily idc to change.. i was just curious how to pop off as my hoods chrome on my new cooper s is bad and off. Seems junkyard has one in a while back so ill try pop it off. Ebay its like 40 bucks. Meh lets try junkyard first.
@@SimpleCarGuy yeah, I like the classy british sports car kind of look. Coopers are one of the few cars that look good with a little chrome. Black or chrome both look good though. Nice video too!

Thanks. I’ve got to replace my upper unit. Now I know what I’m doing.
What year is your R56 Cooper S?
It’s a 2010 model.

Thank you for this video! I had to replace my hood trim and lower grill trim, and I could not have done it on my own without your video!!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you! Mine popped off and I wasn’t sure how to install a new one, this was helpful.
Looks great. I say black everything out other than the chrome trim around the windows. That nicely separates the top of the car from the bottom.
I’m going to try to vinyl wrap some of the pieces and see how that turns out
I use peel coat spray from rustileum. Also use the metallic peel coat to paint on stripes. Factoey stripes get old and nasty

Genuine is usually the way to go if you don't want to drill holes and MAKE it work! Thanks for watching.
Just replaced the hood molding on mine (upper, not lower) and it was so easy after watching this video. Thanks!
Just replaced mine with this - thanks!

Thanks, perfect how-to. I’ll b replacing my top trim this week!
Good luck and try not to break those clips! Thank you for watching.
Excellent video, thank you for taking the time to post this.

These clips are very brittle since they sit so close to the hot turbo. At least it's easy to replace!

Thanks my friend. My new parts are on the way. Now I have a clue. 🧐

Separate the clips while removing that way you don't need a hammer. And drop the bonnet instead of using force. It leaves pressure dents behind
Good points, I got the car the way it was.

Thank you! The one I bought is out of stock at the moment, but if you don’t need the black one you can get this one: amzn.to/3ihca4N
Never mind. I found a link you shared below.
Hi, what size is the screw needed for this? I've lost mine, cheers
I'd check realoem, Im not sure which screw you are talking about exactly.
Can you tell me where you ordered those for? Everywhere online is 100 just for the top one alone

No longer available on Amazon. Any suggestion? Thank you in advance.
You can get this one: amzn.to/2XGx0kD of course I haven’t actually used it myself so I can’t vouch for the quality.

I was planning to do all the chrome, but I like the look with the wheels and kept it like but upgraded the headlights.
Why didn't you spray it black lol
Mine had broken brackets and was loose and also paint tends to not stick so well unless done professionally.
Thet ripped you off
Before looks better
Depends if you like the JCW look or not, mine was broken anyway and I like the black look. Thanks for watching!

Looked better before. Black does nothing for it.
I like the JCW look, so decided to swap them. Everyone has their preference. Thanks for watching
