- Mamidikaya Pappu or Indian mango dal is a vegan lentil dish, which is rather healthy and, yet, tastes awesome! We added raw and ripe mangoes to it, hence, it's slightly sweet, sour or spicy, which makes it an exciting dish.
Give our mango dal recipe a go and enjoy!
INGREDIENTS
- Toor Dal (split yellow lentils) [1 cup / 200 g]
- hot water [2 cup / 500 ml]
- ground turmeric [1 tsp / 4 g]
- salt [1 tsp / 4 g]
- 1 raw or the most unripe mango, you can get
- ghee [2 tbsp / 40 g]
- mustard seeds [1 tsp / 3 g]
- cumin seeds [1 tsp / 2 g]
- dried chili peppers [2 medium size]
- curry leaves [6-8]
- 1 garlic clove
- hing powder / asafoetida [1/2 tsp / 3 g]
- hot water [1/3 cup / 100 ml]
